Sage nodded when she said she felt better. Good. She'd looked pretty bad before ...who knows how long she's gone without rest just because he was hurt. "And I'm still alive, last I checked," he noted, really just teasing her about not wanting to sleep while he was hurt. Just a little bit. He wasn't going to do the while I told you so thing ....but he could mess about a little bit with her. He gave her a grin and shrugged, though quickly stilled when it hurt. He had to stop forgetting moving did that to him. "Well I think you're nuts," he noted in a fondly amused tone of voice. She was certainly the only one who thought that way about him. Probably on his entire life. But for whatever reason, he suddenly felt that as long as he had her, he didn't care what anyone else thought of him. "I supposed we will," he hummed, knowing what she was talking about about. He met her gaze steadily, despite still being a bit drowsy. "We're still growing....I'm sure our relationship will too," he added softly. How it grew, he couldn't say. But it would grow. He just hoped it was in a good direction and not a negative one. But he figured he'd take anything he could get from her.

Jora tilted her head slightly, her eyes narrowing with playful suspicion at the tease in Sage’s voice. "Still alive, huh? Are you sure? I haven't heard any complaints from you in a while," she teased back, a small smile tugging at her lips. It felt good to be light with him again, to know that the worst had passed, and the tension had finally started to ease. She raised an eyebrow at his grin, but quickly softened when he stilled, the pain evident on his face. The last thing she wanted was for him to hurt himself just to mess with her. "You're lucky you're cute," she muttered under her breath, reaching out instinctively to make sure he was comfortable, before leaning back, arms folded across her chest. His next words hit her differently than she expected. The affection in his voice when he called her nuts was there, but there was something more—something that grounded her in a way that surprised her. He was right. She was the only one who thought the world of him this way, and even if she couldn’t explain it, she was okay with it. The world could think what it wanted, but she only cared about *this*. Sage's steady gaze caught hers, and she felt a quiet reassurance in his words, in the way he spoke about their future. She softened, leaning just a little closer without even realizing it. "I hope so," she murmured, her voice quiet but sincere. "I really do."

Sage had snorted as she spoke up again, wrinkling his nose slightly and giving her a mock look of offense. "Well you're just giving me ammunition now," he huffed, no real bite to his words. He didn't think he could actually ever get mad at her even if he wanted to. He hadn't expected her to call him cute, and the look on his face would have probably been rather amusing if he wasn't so shocked. Cute. That was prob the last thing that came to mind when people thought about him. He certainly didn't see where that had come from. "Are you sure you're ok," he asked after a minute with a sort of chuckle, but it was more a surprised one than anything. A heavy blush had formed on his face, and despite how much he hated it, he always had gotten flustered about things like that fairly easily. It was nice to hear though....he certainly did enjoy it. He felt his lips form a soft smile when she agreed she hoped they could grow, and he nodded in agreement. Especially if he lost the ship and the crew ....he'd have nothing. No one. But he did believe she wouldn't just abandon him to be alone. He didn't know what it would look like....but he did trust her. "Me too," he murmured softly, hoping everything worked out for them.

Jora blinked at Sage, caught off guard by the way he looked—flustered and almost sheepish. She’d been teasing, but now that she saw his reaction, she wasn’t sure what to make of it. Cute? She hadn't meant to throw him off, but that blush… it made her grin in a way she couldn’t quite hide. He was definitely the last person she’d describe as cute in the typical sense, but there was something about him, something she hadn’t fully understood until now. She definitely hadn’t expected to see him get all worked up over a simple compliment. "You're not gonna live this down, you know that, right?" she teased, though there was no real malice behind it. Her voice softened as she saw the way he responded, his smile almost shy, and she could feel that weird, warm pull in her chest. She wasn’t used to seeing him this… vulnerable, in a way. It was almost like seeing a crack in a wall she hadn’t realized was so solid. Her heart skipped at the way he spoke about trusting her, and she couldn’t help but nod slowly, keeping her gaze steady. "I won't leave you alone, Sage. You don’t have to worry about that," she assured him, her voice quieter now. Her words were genuine. She knew how it felt to be abandoned, to lose everything. But she wasn’t him. She wasn’t going anywhere.

Sage hadn't exactly meant to give Jora this sort of ammunition against him, but there he was, face flushing as of she'd just kissed him or something. It was stupid really, but he never was able to control his blush. He hated it. When she noted how he'd never like it down, he felt the shades of red deepen even more, and let out a sort of squeak, moving to cover his face with his hands, peeking out at her. "Goddammit, Jora, it doesn't help if you point it out," he yelped, though he was laughing all the same. He wasn't sure why....but he didn't care too much about that. "I know," he noted in response to her comment, then wrinkled his nose in playful amusement. "Though if you keep teasing me about blushing I might have to knock you out and stuff you in a closet for at least an hour to calm down," he joked lightly, really just glad to have a somewhat enjoyable time.

Jora’s lips curled into an amused smirk as she watched Sage fluster, his face a riot of color. She had to admit, it was a bit too easy to get him all worked up like this. But it was honestly too cute not to tease him about it, even if he was getting all *squeaky* and defensive. "Oh, come on, Sage," she teased, stepping closer and folding her arms, eyeing him with that knowing glint. "You’re *adorable* when you’re flustered. Honestly, it's like watching a cat try to hide under a rug—it just makes it worse." She leaned in a little, watching him try to cover his face with his hands like it would make him disappear. “Knock me out, huh?” she chuckled, raising an eyebrow. “I think you’d just make it worse. You really *think* I’m gonna be quiet for an hour in a closet?” She gave a dramatic sigh, as if considering the scenario. “Guess it’d be pretty fun, but I’ll pass this time. You’d probably *never* live it down.” She chuckled, the playful spark still dancing in her eyes. "Look, it’s not *my* fault you’re so easy to mess with. Maybe you should get a handle on that blush before you start threatening people with closets.” Sage might not get it, but Jora could tell she was just making the mood lighter, enjoying their easy banter. She couldn’t remember the last time she’d just let herself have fun like this.

Sage could feel his blush just deepening as she kept talking, knowing she was thoroughly enjoying messing with him. He couldnt get mad at her either....so it was all he could to do half-heartedly away at her. "You're so mean to me," he whined, though his eyes still glittered. "What's next, a kiss," he sort of snorted. Though, that one was mostly a joke. Mostly. If she did kiss him, for whatever reason, he doubted he'd dislike it. That was a somewhat weird thought to pop into his mind though, so he waved it aside, focusing on trying to contain the redness of his face. And not doing a very good job at it, if he was being completely honest with himself. "You're a cruel woman," he huffed, though obviously not too upset about it.

Jora raised an eyebrow, the playful grin never leaving her face. "Mean? Me?" she teased, her voice dripping with mock innocence. "I’m just having fun. You’re so cute when you’re all flustered." Her eyes glinted with mischief as she leaned in a little closer, watching his face turn an even darker shade of red. "Maybe I’ll kiss you," she said, her tone still light but laced with a hint of something else—something that made the words hang in the air a little longer than they should have. She gave him a sidelong glance, noticing how he stiffened, trying to play it cool, but the way his eyes darted away betrayed him. She couldn’t help but chuckle at the way he was trying so hard not to react, even though everything about him screamed that he was way too interested. "Cruel, huh?" Jora shrugged, a smirk tugging at her lips. "You know you like it. Maybe you're just pretending to be mad at me." Her fingers brushed against his arm, deliberately slow, just to see if she could make him squirm a little more. It was way too easy to get under his skin. And honestly? She wasn’t sorry at all.

Sage sort of just sunk deeper into the blankets, sliding down as far as his body allowed him to do, hands still over his face as he peeked out at her. He was enjoying messing around, though of course he'd never tell her that. They were having a good time though, despite his now tomato colored face. When she mentioned she might kiss him, a slight squeak came from his mouth, and he sort of glared at her though he obviously wasn't upset. And he could admit that if she did decide to make that move, he would probably like it. Wait.....that was a sudden thought was that what this was? He wasn't sure about that it was dangerous, liking someone, and even more dangerous to fall in love with them. "I think you just enjoy being mean to me," he huffed, though he knew they both were just fine with messing around. He thought the blush was a bit overkill, but the way his heart had sped up wasn't....bad. neither was the funny feeling in his chest. Odd, and a bit nerve racking, but not bad.

Jora couldn't help the smirk tugging at the corner of her lips as she watched Sage squirm further into the blankets. The way his cheeks flared up and his eyes peeked out from his hands made it impossible to miss how flustered he was, even if he tried to hide it. She tilted her head slightly, eyes glinting with that familiar teasing glimmer. "Enjoy being mean to you?" she repeated with a mock pout, her tone light, playful. "You're not wrong, but I think you secretly like it." She leaned forward a little, watching him with a raised eyebrow. The way his heart was racing, the way he was avoiding her gaze—yeah, that was new. She didn’t expect to feel anything more than the usual fun they had messing with each other, but that flutter in her chest? That wasn’t normal. She almost felt like she should stop before things got too... weird. But then again, where was the fun in stopping? Her eyes softened slightly as she noticed his discomfort, but she wasn’t about to let him off the hook so easily. "Maybe it's not just me who's enjoying this," she teased, a mischievous smile tugging at her lips. "I think someone's a little *too* quiet right now. What, are you afraid I'd actually kiss you?" She leaned in just a little more, her face hovering near his, curious to see how he'd react. Part of her was afraid of pushing things too far, but another part? She couldn’t help but be intrigued by the way he was acting—because if she was honest, it felt like he was starting to like this more than he'd ever admit.
