"Just a few." Kate shrugged, smiling. "I'm glad you think so, most of the time I get wierd looks when I talk about them." She watched Jubilee fly off and then looked at Sam's hand, tilting her head. "Are you bleeding?" She asked quietly, walking toward him. She blinked at the question but kept her gaze on his hand. "Well, unofficially, yeah. I cover a lot of stuff that happens here." She shrugged. Edited at November 14, 2023 06:32 AM by Widow Valley Farms

"I do like them, with names like that I doubt anyone's gonna mistake perry the puppy for Lucifer." He smiled down at him, glancing up at her, than to his hand. He lifted it slightly. "I am." As if it was normal and didn't hurt as much as it did. "Someone has to." He looked a little awed, but not surprised that she ran the farm.

"Well, you have that right." Kate smiled, gently taking his hand and lifting it so she could look at it. Her hands were rough, but she was surprisingly gentle in spite of it. "I suppose. My parents had one child, and that was me, so." She shrugged, frowning at his hand.

He looked down at her hands, they looked soft but they weren't, that made him feel like he had baby hands. He mostly had trails of blood running down his index, pinky and ring finger. His hand was pretty scarred up by the looks of it, down his arm as well. Some of them were old, some recent, some worse. He had a newer one as well. "I managed to be the youngest of two, so my older brother gets to have all the fun in England." He smiled faintly, he was definitely more fitted to traveller at the moment. "Oh, that's fun. How'd you like growing up with a sibling?" Kate asked curiously, sliding her hands off his and walking into the tack room. She came back out with a white roll of bandage and bucket of clear water. She splashed some on his hand after she took it again, wrapping it in as little bandage as possible. "Have you ever heard of something called a glove?" She asked sarcastically, tying the bandage off lightly and walking off to put them both away.

"It was very competitive, like having a best friend that you hate but can't imagine being without them." He shrugged. "I miss him sometimes but he's more of a farmer than I ever was." He smiled softly as she came back. He bit his tongue as she splashed water on his hand. "I have infact, back y'know, I don't know where." He scratched the back of his head with his left hand as she dropped it. He looked at his right, squeezing it. He decided that this was not her first time.

"Oh? Sounds a little complicated, huh?" Kate muttered, smiling as he spoke about him. "It's gotta be pretty hard, being an ocean away." She offered, giving Lucifer a few pats as she went to respond, looking up as a farmhand entered leading a heavy draft horse. She straightened and spoke to Sam again, her entire demeanor rougher and a whole lot more hostile. "Well, Lieutenant, I'm sure you must have some sort of actual work to do rather than loiter around here. Maybe you can go polish your jacket?" She suggested sarcastically, turning on her heel and starting to walk off. She had fought... insanely hard for the respect of the men around her, and if one saw her talking politely to a strange, British lieutenant, that would likely crumble.

He shrugged. "You are absolutely correct." He smiled softly. He turned at the sound of heavy hooves and moved out of the way even before the horse was near. Sam looked back to Kate, back the angry in an instant. He smirked slightly, but nodded. "yes ma'am." Straightening up a little as he turned on his heels, his hands behind his back. He nodded to the farmhand, a serious look on his face as he slipped out the door, going to see how his men were doing. Skippy herhre))
