West finally shook his head at her words. He hated, just HATED killing things but sometimes it needed to be done. "What are you sorry about? It's the the stallions job to protect the mare, whether they are a complete stranger, part of his herd, his mate, a loner, or not. Any mare in danger a stallion should protect, and that's what I did. So don't say you are sorry, you did what a smart horse would do. You stayed out of the way." He coughed, wrinkling his nose and walking-limping to the water to get a drink

Mystery didn't say anything at first but walked alongside West, she saw his wounds, she licked them trying to clean them

"They look a bit deep, it wasn't ok, you could of been badly injured.. Or worse!" She thought for a moment "I want to learn, I want you to teach me how to fight so I can defend myself, protect you if you need it, and help you fight if it's you against a army"

"It's just one tiny bite, I'll Ben fine." He snorted. For once he wasn't really lying.. it was just one bite. He was... probably the best fighter in the land. West looked at her. "It's kind of hard to just learn.. or in my case, teach you how to fight.. but I guess I can give it a go. Once I recover from my 'deep wound' that it." He chuckled, coughing slightly.

Mystery looked at him with a excited expression on her face "Really?! I was expecting you to say no, YAY!" She jumped a few times before cantering and bucking at the air

West looked at her. "Uh huh..." he said slowly, watching her... tricks. He believed every horse should know how to fight. If they didn't... they'd Ben dead

She stopped moving, turned her gaze to West, flicking her tail every now and then

"So, when do I start?" She said. Mystery was always trying to see the bright side in things

"Hurumph." West muttered, rolling his eyes. "We can start now, if you wish. Of course you want lessons in defense, which you really only need to know the basic skills of. For one.. defense is not attacking first, just to make that clear. If someone is irritating you... you cannot attack and call it 'defense' against their words. This is only to use if someone attacks you first. For two.. aim for vulnerable spots. Spots that you think it would hurt to get hit. Aim for nerves. One well aimed kick to the chest or shoulder could make their leg no numb, and then they cannot attack anymore." West showed her where important nerves were, how to hit them, and what it would do.

Mystery payed close attention to everything he was telling her "ok, I see, so this should do it? And only use this when attacked first, got it"

"Correct." West said. "Those are the basics. You don't really need to know anymore.. yet anyway." He chuckled, taking another sip from the stream before grazing
