She couldn't hide her shocked expression and her eyes seemed to soften "Oh god, Sage. I'm so sorry to hear that. That never should have happened..." she couldn't imagine losing her parents, let alone in such a tragic way. Cassidy hoped a zombie tore Sage's father limb from limb or he died from starvation. A person like that shouldn't have the luxury to live. Cassidy scooted closer to Sage and she wrapped her arms around him to hug him with the side of her face laying on his shoulder. Her eyes closed and she gave him a soft squeeze that way she wouldn't hurt him when he had multiple injuries. Cassidy could be his friend and comforting him wasn't a bad thing, especially when something that horrible happened when he was that young. |

Sage was surprised when she wrapped her arms around him, never having really been hugged before. He sat there for a moment before leaning into her slightly and sighing. "Yeah, well, it did. Life's not fair sometimes I guess." He made a face. "At least she didn't get eaten by zombies like my sister did," he pointed out. "I don't have to worry about finding her and having to kill her. Again." He shrugged lightly. "I wasn't ever close with my mom, Cass. It was shocking, but it wasn't like I was losing someone I loved." His mom had wanted a daughter, and as such he was just...there. she never harmed him, but never really helped him either. He'd grown up on his own, learning how to survive by himself. It was good to have someone like Cass, though, who he knew would help him out if he needed it. All he had to do was ask and she'd be there, he knew that now. |

Cassidy hugged him a little tighter "I don't know where my parents are" she whispered "They were good people and I don't know where they are. They might be dead or not" she admitted and a lonely tear rolled down her cheek. "I'm sorry about your sister. I can't even imagine how that is but I'm here for you, Sage. You aren't alone anymore." She unwrapped her arms from him and she leaned back to look at him "I won't leave. I mean, how could I?" she laughed softly. She didn't think she could ever leave Sage when she has helped him a lot but he was also a good guy and people like that were hard to come by now. |

Sage glanced over at Cassidy and gave her a small smile. "Then youve already done more for me than my actual family," he murmured. He wrapped his own arms around her. "We'll keep an eye out for your family," he promised. "They can't all be dead. My family isn't all dead and it's crazy. I'm sure your parents are still alive and out there looking for you." It seemed odd that he'd known this girl for less than a day and already trusted her more than his own mother or father. Granted, his father scared him to death, so that wasn't a very fair comparison. He didn't trust his dad at all. "And we'll take care of eachother," he promised. |

"I hope I can find them. I was in town when all of this happened and the army came in and ushered me to safety and I was brought a state away. I went back to Georgia after a month and they weren't home and I searched for weeks and couldn't find them so I ventured out in case they went searching for me" it was comforting being in Sage's arms. It upset her that her parents were out there somewhere but she was glad she found Sage. "Yes, we will take care of each other" she promised him too. It seemed within a day the two already had their minds set that they would stick together, help each other, and be friends. Everyone needed a friend in their life and both of them seemed to need one. |

Sage nodded slowly. "They probably went where they'd survive best. I'm sure they're nearby. We can find them as soon as this stupid leg figures out how to work again." He said the last part as a joke, partly because it was annoying that he couldn't do anything, and partly because it seemed as though Cass could use some humor. He was trying to lighten the conversation up...it had gotten downright depressing. He hoped her family was alive, that they could find them. She deserves that much. Or at least, if they weren't to find out what happened to them. |

Cassidy took a bold move and she decided to lean her side against his lightly and she laid her head on his shoulder. Her body temperature was higher than an average humans and she knew her body heat was radiating to him and it would warm him up too. Cassidy closed her eyes to relax "I hope you don't mind. It just feels nice after being alone for so long to have someone with me again." If he wanted her to move she absolutely would but until he said something, she would stay against his side and be comfortable and warm him up. "I will admit that I'm really glad I found you. You make this whole apocalypse thing a lot easier to go through everyday." |

Sage chuckled. "Oh, I don't care what you do as long as you're not trying to kill me," he joked softly. It had it's truths to it though, and he did enjoy the girl's comforting presence. As time went on, he had subconsciously moved closer to Cass....she was warm, and even with the fire he was still damp and chilly. "Having a partner is probably a pretty good thing," he admitted. "Though, I have a feeling it'll be better when I can actually help with stuff." He chuckled to himself...his comments were funny to him sometimes. But he did enjoy being here, with the girl. He was glad they had both turned out to be decent people. "Hey Cass? You should know...if we're going to be partners...that when I use my powers I drain myself. Once I use it I'm pretty much done for until I can eat and drink and regain my strength." He should tell her that ... She'd need to know. |

Powers? So he had a secret just like she did. She lifted her head and looked at him "What kind of powers?" she asked him softly. Sage wasn't a normal human and she never would have known if he didn't tell her. That meant she had to tell him her own secret and it had her nervous but if they were going to be friends and help each other out then he needed to know her own secret too. Cassidy cleared her throat "I have to tell you something too. I'm actually a werewolf. I was born a werewolf. Both of my parents are and the reason I was with a group of people is because they are my pack." |

Sage stared at her for a moment in silence before grinning like a two year old. "No way! That's super cool," he giggled, sounding pretty similar to a young boy, except he was seventeen and tall. The thought was pretty funny as to what he looked like, actually. "I'm nowhere near as cool as you ... I can get bursts of strength or speed, but like I said, it takes its own toll on me. I'm still just a human, with some extra bursts of stuff I can summon every now and then." It was cool she was a werewolf....he'd never met one but they were cool creatures. He would figure out what she needed because of that as time went on...they'd learn how to care for eachother. |
