Lance laughed and nodded "I bet you have." He said getting a chuckle out of what he thought was a joke "If it worked that's all that matters isn't it?" He asked before nodding "I am too... I missed out on far too much of my daughter's life I refuse to miss any more of hers or my granddaughters life... and yours too." He added bumping him playfully with his elbow before he laughed "I don't know how much more reality I can knock into your head then what Max does..." he chuckled "But I'll keep that in mind." He assured. After their talk Lance smiled and went inside to say his goodbyes before he headed off leaving Max and her husband alone at last (well... aside from Charlie of course.) Max wrapped her arms around him looking up at him with a bright smile on her face "I'm so glad you two got along so well..." She admitted.

Sage chuckled at Lances little bit of tease he sent his way. The man still acted young...he had a feeling he could have some fun with the guy. He seemed genuine, so maybe he could take some advice and...well, learn, since his own father wasn't exactly the best role model. Once Lance had left, though, he was glad to be back alone with his little family. He smiled back at Max and nodded. "I'm glad he decided to stay," he chirped. "I told you it wouldn't be bad to invite them." He did wish Mary would reconsider too, but Lance was a good start, and Max was overjoyed. "He's a good man, Max. You're lucky," he murmured. Max chuckled "I won't ever doubt you again... not that I ever did... I guess I'm still more human then I realized..." She shrugged "And still more of a kid then I realized... a kid who just wants mommy and daddy to hold her and give her advice and tell her that its okay to make mistakes..." She sighed gently "I'll tell you one thing though I'll never ever walk out on Charlie no matter what." She said firmly "I guess they taught me something worth learning by being the way they were... the kind of parent I don't want to be." She chuckled softly. Sage chuckled and then sobered up a bit and nodded. "I know what you mean," he sighed. "Except I'm not willing to bring my family into this," he mused. Really, he wished he'd had parents who were nicer...they didn't have to love him unconditionally...he'd even take just caring for him, for the basics...but that was never meant to be, he supposed. But while he hated the way they'd treated him, he had to admit the skills he'd learned, and the stubborn and reckless, and somewhat fearless personality he had....he was thankful for it. It had made it her things much better ...and now he had Mac and Charlie, and he knew what love was...how powerful it could be. And he was thankful for that too...not having that as a child seemed to only have made him appreciate it more now.

Max nodded "I know... but my dad said he would be here for us and you know what? I believe him..." She admitted "And believe me that's the first time I've ever said that about my dad..." She chuckled before hugging him "Maybe he'll be the father you've always wanted?" She offered "I mean you are his son in law now..." She smirked.

Sage smiled and hugged Max back with a nod. "He seemed genuine," he murmured. "Maybe he will be." He was glad to be able to hope for it...he almost didn't want to, but Lance had been nice and what he supposed a father was supposed to act like, so he was letting himself hope for it. Just a little bit. But, of course, if he stayed at only son in law, he would take that too.

"He did... I sure hope it lasts..." She smiled "Either way... I have you." She cooed happily "And Charlie." She chirped wrapping her arms around him "I love you both so much." She said softly. A few weeks went by and so far Lance had stuck to his word, he was staying in a hotel while he was looking for an apartment but he visited a few times during the week to help out and cut down on Sage and Max's stress level... After a few weeks of hunting for a house or apartment he stumbled on something interesting so he called Max and asked to talk to Sage "Hey can you come meet me?" He asked "I have something you'll wanna see..."

Sage smiled over at Max and pecked her on the lips, nodding happily. "You sure do. I love you too," he chirped. A few weeks had gone by, and Lance had stuck around, which was a good thing. They'd gotten closer, and Sage was happy about it...he was sort of stepping into the role of father for both of them...a real father, not like his own biological one. Whenax handed him the phone he took it from her and grunted a sort of hello before saying "yeah, where do you wanna meet?" Once Lance told him he hung up and set the phone down before getting up from the couch and telling Max where he was going before kissing her and Charlie bye and slipping out the door. He got on the motorcycle and headed off...he had nothing better to do right then anyway.

When they met up at the restaurant Lance suggested they had lunch as they ate Lance passed him a listing for a cute little 3 bedroom house with a decent sized back yard surrounded by woods "I stumbled on this while I was looking for an apartment..." he explained "I thought it might be something you and Max would like to check out?" He offered "Im not trying to intrude but Charlie can't stay in the corner of your bedroom forever..." he pointed out.

Sage chuckled and shook his head. "I know. We hadn't planned on having kids right away," he admitted. 'ill ask max about it. It's definitely something we'll look at." He shrugged. "And if we decide not to spend money on a whole new house, I can always expand the one we have...we have plenty of property," he thought out loud.
