That's a good strategy! I used gen ed to test out law since I was interested but very quickly decided that was a no. Gen eds are also good for bridging gaps too, I didn't remember much chemistry from school so I did a chem gen ed this summer that I've just finished just to feel a bit more confident

For sure. I'm in a weird spot since I'm already enrolled at a university for fall.. but I was hoping to at least try something out in the summer beforehand, and use gen ed courses as an opportunity to pick out things to try.

I totally understand that, I still feel that pressure now especially since I'm not working while studying right now. You can also look into certificates or online courses that are shorter/lower pressure if there was something you were really curious about.

Moon, interesting! I really struggle with allowing myself to take that sort of time to explore- I have so many financial goals it's hard to set them aside so I can first get things moving and then focus on it later.

All that to say take your time and if you are passionate about something see if there's a field that includes that lol!

Nope I worked full time in various roles for years before studying. I technically didn't earn university entrance from my schooling system so I would have had to bridge or wait until I was a 'mature' student. I have worked in a lot of casual and seasonal roles to see different fields. I do have late diagnosed ADHD though so I did lack direction for a long time lol. But I always loved horse color genetics ironically, had horses from a young age and that lead me into genetics as a whole. Psych was.. a lived experience thing but I quickly decided being a therapist isn't what I wanted so I discovered behavioral psychology and research avenues rather than clinical. I'd love to do genetic counselling but I would have to do my masters overseas which unfortunately is not an option so I will eventually have to choose to do psych or bio for my masters if I chose to do it

Moon, what sort of life experience helped you in that, and for you did that mean taking a break from uni or staying and investing time in internships and such?

It took me a long time! I've changed my degree three times before settling, but I always recommend life experience first before studying so you aren't stuck doing something you hate. Also, once you do start studying you learn so many things that are out there, so many fields I never knew were an option! So, often the more you study the easier it is to narrow down what you want to do

Yeah it was all agreed that when I returned to uni since I'm a 'mature' student that my hours would reduce (contract and all) but it became too hard for them so they tried the whole 'we will make you quit instead of firing you' act and I had to deal with lawyers, it was such a huge and avoidable drama in the end but I still value the experience I had

Sage glanced over at her as they walked inside, nodding as he settled Liz down in her play pen area of the living room. "I think we both have some research to do," he mused in thought. "I want to know exactly who's spawn I am now that I think about it all,* he admitted with a shake of his head.

Celeste nodded in agreement. An idea struck her and she lit up, "The library! I bought almost every supernatural beings textbook, theres gotta be answers in one of those books."

Sages eyes light up when she suggested the library, nodding along. "I did some research, but I never finished much schooling, so my reading isn't the best," he admitted. "Since I started smelling your pregnancy I only got through a few short books. More informative pamphlets than anything," he groaned. "If you want to bring some down I can keep an eye on Liz while we work without her tearing up the library, he suggested happily

Celeste nodded eagerly and zipped upstairs, only to return with a stack of 7 books, their labels either about vampire history, crossbreed history or werewolf history. She plopped down on the couch next to Sage and started reading.

Sage sort of nestled onto the couch with Celeste when she came back with books. Liz was in a safe spot she couldn't get out of, so he reached over to grab a book and open it. He was greeting with a lot of small letters forming words he definitely could not figure out so he let out a defeated sigh and set it back on the stack. "You might just have to read out loud," he admitted sheepishly, slouching against the side of the couch, cheeks flushed slightly with embarrassment.

Sage threw her a thankful glance when she didn't say anything, just started reading. He probably should get a better education at some point, but there was no point in college if he couldnt read, so he really wasn't sure what he could do. For now, he just focused on listening to her.

Celeste read through the first book, skipping over the chapters that were useless to them, then started the second book, continuing to read allowed.

Sage continued to listen to Celeste, occasionally moving to do something for Liz, or make sure the baby was alright, sort of just keeping his hands busy enough for him to focus on listening to her read.

Celeste continued reading and by she finished reading the fifth book aloud to him, she was bored and tired and just frustrated that they had no progress to figuring out anything.
