Ajax's eyebrows shot up. If they weren't attatched to his skin, they would've shot right off the top of his head. "It WASN'T? I NEVER would have guessed OH MY GOODNESS what a REVALATION." He threw on the dramatic sarcasm thickly, snorting. "It has too! Not kidding! Ajax darted inside the bedroom, rummaging around for at least a minute before letting out a triumphant *AHA!* and pulling out a cellphone (surprising I know). He opened the stopwatch and showed it to Mercy. "My goodness look at the time." He said innocently. It read: 4 hours 25 minutes 46 seconds. "Guess I was right after all, how weird. Okay, I was guessing on the seconds but STILL, I wasn't that far off." He grinned, stuffing the phone away. Not like he would need it for another hundred years. "Ouch! HEY inspiration for a book! *The Great Slipper Attack of Whatever Year This Is*." Ajax chuckled, his teasing grin only growing wider at Mercy's last comment.

Mercy could only giggle at him and his whole performance. "Shut up! We have an errand to run, so stop being cute and get over here!" She demanded, grabbing the other shoe and throwing it at him playfully. "Egh, you're too adorable for me to be mad at you." She huffed.

"SH- AGAIN? MERCY. HAVE MERCY ON ME." Ajax's eyes widened as he realized what he had just done. "Oh my GOSH you have the BEST NICKNAME EVER DID YOU HEAR THAT WOW I'M USING THAT." He exclaimed in mock astonishment, then his eyes widened further. "CUTE?!!!???!!!??? Am NOT what an INSULT and ADORABLE? ! ? ! IMA DIE" Ajax's voice lifted into the soprano tone of shrieking without the volume as he caught the shoe in one hand and dropped it near the other. "I. Am. Leaving. Hurumph." He snorted heavily and walked out the door, confident out there he would get no more slippers chucked at him.

"MY NAME IS AN OXYMORON-" Mercy said, her tone sarcastic. She snickered as he spoke. "I didn't know you were a theatre kid. I'm pretty sure you just hit a whistle note." She giggled, following him out the door with a grin. "Follow me, squeaks." She said playfully, taking off and flying south.

"I know that's sarcasm. But do I? If you are actually not Mercy have I been teasing a random angel this whole time? What is the world? Why do we put cargo on ships and shipments on cars? If you get scared half to death twice, aren't you dead? Not that it matters for us. My brain just exploded." Ajax started out strong then faded into musing to himself in wonder. "I'm NOT a theatre kid! I'm not a kid! Theatre wasn't a thing where I lived! I DIDN'T KNOW MY VOICE COULD GO THAT HIGH BEFORE YOU. MADE. IT." He snorted loudly, narrowing his eyes. "If you call me squeaks right now I swear I'll---" His voice faded into growls and mumbles as Mercy took off. Ajax suddenly *sprouted* giant silvery black wings and took off behind her, trailing a little ways behind so he could observe the green forests and the crystal lake below them. Mercy just giggled through his mind blowing monologue, shaking her head. "You're a wacky dude, Ajax." She chuckled. "Maybe you should consider going into theater because of that- I can't even hit the high note you did." She teased, chuckling at him happily. She ignored his grumbles and continued flying- it wasn't insanely long, but not short, either. Mercy seemed fine with the distance, and the length. She finally set herself down in a small alley in a small seeming town.

Ajax let out a snort as he flew, only slightly pained from the beating of his wings. "Wacky may not be the right word..." he called, narrowing his eyes as she spoke again. "Dont even bring up theatre again. You could hit that note if you were ACTUALLY offended." He huffed, swooping down and landing as he crossed his arms. "Soooo... are you going to say why we are here?" Ajax inquired quietly, tilting his head.

Mercy hesitated, simply standing in the shadows, fiddling with her hands, and staring out at the street when he spoke. She turned her gaze to him, blowing out a small breath. "I have a brother. Had, a brother? I don't know, whatever the proper phrasing is. I like to check on him every now and then. Every year on his birthday, Christmas, the like. So, today is his birthday. He's turning 14." She explained softly, staring anxiously at the road again and giving a nervous chuckle. "It's really a nerve wracking experience. For no particular reason." She shrugged, biting her lip.

Ajax blinked once at what Mercy said- he hadn't thought about what family she might've left behind because he was too busy worrying about his horrible family. +selfish+ he thought, his eyebrows furrowing. Ajax never knew how to respond to something like that. "I..." he stopped. "I'm sorry." Ajax finally settled on, staring at the ground like he could burn a hole through it.

Mercy tilted her head as he spoke, giving a slight shrug. "It's alright. I died a while ago, and I shouldn't even do this anyway. But it's nice to see him from afar. And it looks like he recognizes me sometimes- which feels good. Anyway, let's go." She said quietly, taking his hand and letting her wings fade into nothing. She guided him gently onto the sidewalk outside the alley, glancing around.
