Rose made him a simple meal before taking it up to him with some painkillers and water. "Here, babe" She said softly, setting the plate down on the nightstand and handing him the rest. "Do you want me to let you eat alone?"

"Thank you," He murmured, taking the painkillers before sneaking a peck to her temple. "Stay, just...I don't know, talk about anything and everything you want." Caden mused, noting he really just wanted to hear her voice. (heheh, next post gets to swap to his POV[sidenote: it's kinda depressing])

She nodded, exlaining everything she'd felt with the pregnancy so far

I started eating as she started talking, instantly being beraded with the mix of flavors that always came with her cooking. Sooner or later it was gone, me having not realized just how long i'd gone without eating anything until she brought the plate up. Rose's voice is always.....well, there's numerous words you could describe it as. Comforting, soothing, calming, laughter-inducing, warm, soft, home, even. I'll be bold with that last word. I eventually finish eating and set the plate aside, turning towards her as I sit and listen to whatever it is she wants to tell me. When she starts talking about her pregnancy I smile, noting in just a few months we'll have a child of our own. My hand reaches out and clasps around hers, brushing my thumb over her knuckles as I assure her everything will be fine, and even toss a few jokes around---well, they're jokes to me, though, may not be as funny to her . . .

She smiled at him when she saw him set his plate down. "Want more?" She offered, eyes and voice soft

|
"I'm okay," I murmured, tone harsher than i'd wanted it to be. "Thank you for offering, though." This time I made sure my voice was soft, apologetic, even.

She just nodded, kissing his cheek

I smiled softly at her peck, knowing I was completely undeserving of it after pracitcally scolding her for simply caring. Glancing out the blinds draped over the window, I watched as cars raced down our old back road, hoping they wouldn't be stupid enough to get their cars twisted into one giant hunk of metal.

"What's on your mind, babe?" She asked, taking his hand

I sighed, pulling my gaze from the two now specks of black slowly disappearing. "Not much, just hoping those two who are racing won't be stupid enough to kill themselves." I murmured, knowing it probably sounded stupid to Rose.
