Oh definitely, i5was my first time putting a pet down i didn't know they did that lol, caught me off guard but was very sweet
Gaelic Gladiacres
06:21:55 Gladius
stella - yeah lots of them do that to be honest, but it is still a very sweet gesture.
BlackRose
06:20:51 Stella
What's your guys consultation fee? The vets I use is £43-£45 but another vet who specialise in small animals costs about £50-55
BlackRose
06:19:35 Stella
100% when one of my pets had to be put down, they sent a card out. After the bill had been paid lol but I still found it very sweet
Gaelic Gladiacres
06:19:33 Gladius
I agree, yeah! I appreciate when they do that, really just makes sense in my opinion
Cloud Peak Stables
06:18:59 Cloud
Yes, for sure. My closest vet charges $200 up front if you bring the animal TO THEM and then that amount is taken from the total at the end. I think that's completely fair given that they pretty much have to triage emergencies all day every day.
Gaelic Gladiacres
06:16:21 Gladius
all that to say... lol if you've got a good vet, tell them how much you appreciate them. it makes all the crap worth it!
Gaelic Gladiacres
06:15:24 Gladius
yeah definitely
BlackRose
06:15:05 Stella
Oh definitely, the call outs aren't mega expensive but that on top of all the treatment etc does add up lol! I do believe places like America etc overall would be a bit more expensive than UK
Cloud Peak Stables
06:14:11 Cloud
That's a great deal for a call out fee.
Gaelic Gladiacres
06:13:59 Gladius
stella - that feels so inexpensive compared to over here lmao oof

cloud - uuuugh yeah. my mom has all kinds of horror stories...
Cloud Peak Stables
06:13:08 Cloud
And that's all on top of dealing with pet owners...
BlackRose
06:13:02 Stella
That's definitely understandable, I don't own horses but I did look after and care for some and their vet bills weren't cheap, the call out fee was about £50 maybe a little more.
Gaelic Gladiacres
06:12:23 Gladius
and then there's insurance and supplies, equipment upgrades, payment and record systems... like it's no wonder the small practices of yesterday have been snapped up by corporations, they're the only ones with the power to actually keep the damn thing afloat
Gaelic Gladiacres
06:11:42 Gladius
yeah - they've basically got "house call" baked in, their equipment for the most part has to be mobile, there're more years of education to get through, the clientele is generally smaller (although *some are wealthy, which can help but), and the hours are crazy. and that's not counting if you work at a hospital, which would necessitate huge amounts of space and lots of capital to start in the first place (even if you just join staff not own the place)
Cloud Peak Stables
06:11:34 Cloud
Yeah, it's too bad. I don't like getting the bill but I understand why they charge what they do.
BlackRose
06:10:29 Stella
Normal vets are expensive but horse vets are way more expensive if I'm correct?
Gaelic Gladiacres
06:10:14 Gladius
cloud - yeah, you're absolutely right. the industry is basically in crisis at the moment, especially for rural and large animal vets
Cloud Peak Stables
06:07:42 Cloud
I never like when I have to take an animal to the vet, but in my area of the US, I'm just thankful we have a vet at all. It's not an easy career and they don't typically make that much money. I think there's a good deal of burnout in the industry because of that.

(lol, I smell of various things depending on the day. Between animals and people and sports, who knows what it's gonna be ahaha)
Sage looked over at Quinn when she woke up and hummed lightly with a nod. "It felt nice to sleep in, admit it," he huffed, though not in anything but an amused way. He stretched slightly and then settled back down next to the girl happily. He was fine with just sitting there all day....he had to anyway.

"Only nice to sleep because you get bored otherwise." Quinn teased, adjusting herself to be more upright along the wall. She glanced down at Sage, her eyes sparkling fondly. "Today I give you permission to try to walk... please no crazy stunts." Quinn rolled her eyes, not even joking... though her tone did carry an amused sound to it.

Sages mouth twitched into a slight smile and he shrugged slightly. "Well, sleeping is nice, until you get bad dreams," he mused. Then he grinned over at the girl. "great, you can help me," he chirped. "And you'll be right there to make sure I don't do anything stupid," he chuckled happily. Walking hurt like crazy....but he did have to do it.

Quinn looked up at the cave ceiling. "Oh boy, I get to help YOU." She said sarcastically, slowly standing up and stretching. "So, crazy boy, what do you want me to help you with?" Quinn asked with a small smile, tipping her head. She knew walking would hurt, and she didn't know how much he would want to do it.

Sage chuckled lightly and reached his arms out to the girl with a shrug. "first things first, I need you to help me up," he chirped. He probably wouldn't be able to do this for very long, but hopefully with Quinn helping him it wouldn't be quite so bad as it was the other day when he'd tried. And failed.... hopefully he wouldn't fall over this time.

Quinn nodded. She grabbed Sage's hands and made sure she had a good grip, then gently tried to ease him onto his feet. After he was on his feet, Quinn decided to stabilize him until he told her to let go. "You good?" She asked, knowing how much that must hurt.

Sage let out a slightly pained grunt when he rose to his feet, leaning against the girl until he steadied himself against her. He kept an hand on her shoulder, and half bent over, pressing a hand to the wound. "I'm as good as I'm going to get for now," he huffed, the effort having winded him already. He took a few shaky steps, leaning against the girl heavily.

Quinn supported Sage the best she could. She never realized he was so... heavy. Not as a bad thing,... probably just all the muscle.. but still. Quinn was strong, but she was made for climbing trees quickly and sprinting through the shadows without being seen. She had a thin build. Quinn adjusted her position to hold some of Sage's weight more comfortably. She knew he would be happy if he walked... but Quinn didn't really approve of rambling all over. Maybe he would sit back down after a couple steps.

Sage knew Quinn was...a bit smaller than he was, and most definitely lighter, so he did try to hold most of his weight, as best he could. He wasn't so sure how well it was working, but he was trying, he really was. He went a few steps further before he groaned and shook his head, staggering slightly as one knee have out for a second. "That's all I got," he huffed out to Quinn, hoping she'd do the work of turning them, since he felt like he was going to fall over any second. He blinked sweat out of his eyes, rather annoyed and dissapointed with himself.

"Oh great! Very smart decision! I like the way your brain isn't improving!" Quinn said cheerfully, taking on even more of Sage's weight. She turned them and walked back to the cave, almost dragging him by now. "Next time... remember you have to get there... AND back." She chuckled, slowly sinking to the ground and setting him down. Quinn leaned up against the wall and blew out a breath. "See? Sitting down is fun slmetimes." She joked
