Darcy was lost in space when a large hand grabbed her arm. She gulped and ripped her arm from the man. She pushed herself back, scooting the chair back and causing more prisoners than before to stare at them. Darcy stared in shock as the other guards didn't move a muscle.

The other guards were looking on almost as if they were seeing a play, and all the prisoners looked highly entertained as well. Rusty had said- no one liked him here. He was only doing it to get paid, so that once he did leave he could buy a home in the middle of nowhere to die. He tensed his jaw and crossed his arms angrily. "You all don't touch her or any other prisoner under my charge. Though I'm starting to get sick of Martha." He growled, casting a warning glare at the woman who looked utterly annoyed. The prisoners seemed like they wanted to put up a bigger fight but they held back for the moment, to Rusty's surprise.

Darcy winced at the older men who stared at her. She looked away then up at Rusty +please please PLEASE make that bell ring soon+ she crossed her arms and leaned back in her chair. She thought of her dad for a split second before pushing the thought away.

The men hesitated before looking up as a bell rang. With a final glare at Rusty and Darcy, they left with their guards. Rusty let his shoulders sag slightly. This sucked. He didn't say a word, instead gesturing for the women to get up and head back, his steps a bit more careful than usual, his expression wary. He usual was wary on the inside, but it never showed. Until now.

Darcy quickly stood and walked to her cell. She sat on the cot with a sigh. After a few minutes she spoke. "So... is this what happens every day?" She glanced up at Rusty

Rusty closed his eyes for a moment before resuming his position. At Darcy's quiet words he glanced down, the slightest hint of pain marring his golden vision, not quite hidden enough by his cap. "More or less." He answered, partially crossing his arms and staring out at the rest of the prison for a couple seconds. "It makes it really hard not to just quit, but I guess it wouldn't make them hate me any less." he mumbled

"Oh. That sucks" she shrunk to a laying position and stared up at the ceiling. "Just keep your eye on the prize. In the end, you'll be able to be free and have a happyish life somewhere. Meanwhile I'll be doing the same things I did before I was arrested" she let her eyes flutter to Rusty for a second to catch his reaction before looking away. She would have to find a way to escape her father, but if he found her she would be back in the basement cleaning herself in dirty water and eating his scraps.

Rusty leaned against the wall and nodded slowly. It did suck. But his life kind of just sucked so far. He probably wouldn't get a taste of not suckiness- ever. At least till he died, maybe. As Darcy started speaking again he glanced at her. "Yay, I'll be out in enough time to live a year and die." He mumbled with a small snort, then tilted his head. "If you don't mind me asking... what were you doing before you were arrested?" Rusty asked quietly, his golden eyes observing her for a second before flicking back to the rest of the prison.

Darcy hesitated "my father kept me hidden away. I cleaned stuff and are his scraps, hince my weight" she gestured to her ribs which were showing from under her shirt. "But I was on my way to South Carolina to see my grandparents" she nervously glanced down at her hands

Rusty's golden eyes widened slighly at Darcy's words. No wonder she acted like she did- but why get arrested, then? His mind flitted back to what it said. Child kidnapping. Well of COURSE she didn't kidnap a child. If ANYONE would've looked into her background they would see there's no motive. There's even motive NOT to. No one would want to do the same thing to someone else that her father did to her. "That's absolutely horrible in every meaning of the word." He finally commented, a flicker of anger hidden behind his slightly darker gaze. +I want to punch a specific someone right now. In no way is it fair or humane to keep your own DAUGHTER against her will and only feed her scraps+ He thought sourly, his fists tightening for a second before releasing. After a quick glance at a clock, he saw it was almost lunchtime. Mind already made up about something, Russ turned his gaze back to Darcy. "As soon as you get out of here you'll be free, though. It doesn't sound to me like your father would go through the work to look for you. You can start a new life. It'll get better." He said quietly, his eyes flicking down at the ground as he was yet again reminded HE would never get to start a new life.
