Sage slept for quite a while. Regeneration took up a lot of energy, and having been tortured a bunch the day before, he was exhausted. Demons had more physical strength than humans, and had other powers, but those thing required huge amounts of energy, which was one reason getting cut could be so bad. Their veins were larger than a humans, and while it took more to hurt them, once they were hurt it was more dangerous. He slept well into the afternoon and when he finally woke up, he saw her blanket over him, grinned, yawned, and fell asleep again. He would probably sleep through this day into the next morning.

After a while of painting Maxine went back upstairs to see if he'd woken up at all after she'd eaten and found herself pleasantly surprised when she found he was still asleep... She gave a small smile and washed herself and her paint brushes up before she joined him under the covers curling up beside him and resting her head against his she couldn't sleep long... She told herself as her eyes drifted closed and she wound up in a deep... Surprisingly calm, and much needed sleep... The next time she woke up it was late in the evening... She was still tired and wanted to sleep more but she forced herself up out of bed to get something to eat before she went back to her painting... This was her way of coping with... Well with anything... She'd draw or paint like she was the mad hatter making more hats then he ever needed... It was a good outlet for her considering she had really nobody to talk to... After a while it just became habit... Something on her mind? Paint... Stressful day? Draw... This was just how she delt with things... However once the painting was finished it was around 9pm... She was more then ready for bed... Especially if they were going to get packed up and on the move tomorrow... When she got back into bed with Sage she gave a small smile and brushed some hair away from his temples... "Never in a million years did I expect my 'Guardian Angel' to be a demon..." She whispered "But... I'm glad it's you..." She whispered gently planting a tiny kiss on his temple before she settled down beside him.

Sage slept through her kind words but was subconsciously drawn to her gentle touch and body heat. He shifted slightly so that he was kind of in a ball with her curled around him. He had never gotten any form of comfort from anyone, and he needed it from her now. He didn't know what their future would hold, but Fate had made it clear that they would be together no matter what happened. And he was glad, because even if they never became anymore than just friends, being with Maxine seemed to make his life a whole lot more bearable. Especially now that he was free of Death's clutches. Edited at July 16, 2022 06:40 AM by NightClan

The next morning Maxine woke up giving Sage a gentle shake to rouse him "Hey... Time to get up sleepy head..." She said gently "I'm gonna make breakfast." She told him before gently climbing over him and heading downstairs to start cooking.

Sage opened one eye and looked up at her and then groaned and flopped his head back down on the pillow. He rolled out of bed and lay on the floor for a minute before sighing and walking downstairs. He slid into a chair at the table and put his arms up onto the table, letting his chin rest on them. His hair was probably a mess, since it was longish and wavy he always had horrible bed head, but he couldn't care any less. He was not a morning person.

Max chuckled seeing him "Good morning." She said gently "I'm making pancakes for breakfast." She told him. As she mixed the ingredients she was a little uncoordinated... But eventually she did manage to make pancakes for the two of them... She made 3 for each of them as she expected Sage was probably hungry... "I've got Syrup and butter too..." She said setting them in between them before she sat down at her plate and started eating.

Sage grunted a good morning and downed the pancakes. After that, he was a bit more awake, but he also knew it had been almost a week since he had 'eaten' a person's soul and knew he had to bring the topic up because he would be needing that soon. He thought while he ate about how to even start the conversation, his brow furrowing as he tried to come up with something that wasn't just 'I still need to eat people's souls so imma just go kill three, maybe four people. Have a nice time while I'm out!'

"Not a morning person... Got it..." Max teased lightly as she ate her pancakes "You slept for a while... Are you feeling better?" She asked curiously tipping her head "I'm still in a bit of pain but with the medicine the doctor gave me it's not too bad..." She said giving a small chuckle "I don't think he believed me when I told him I got mugged..." She admitted "But the other option... The truth... He would have locked me in the psych ward... For sure..." She admitted "But uh... You seem to be doing a lot better then me for sure..." She admitted with a small chuckle.

Sage grinned slightly and shrugged. "I also died and came back, I took the easy option out." He made a face. "Although I've died enough times to think I would have picked a better spot to fall than on the tiles of the bathroom floor," he muttered, amused by that fact. He shrugged. "Regeneration only does so much, though. It only heals potentially fatal wounds, so i'm still sore, but i'm more used to that than you are. And then I sleep for, uh...how long was I asleep anyway?" He glanced at the clock and scrunched his nose up. "Ouch, that was a really long time." He shrugged it off and sat back in the chair absentmindedly hooking his finger along the inside of his collar and moving it back and forth, a habit he had picked up when he was younger. "True true..." She admitted with a small sigh before she snickered "Yeah there are much better options then the tiled bathroom floor for sure..." She admitted before nodding "Yeah... You were out for a while..." She told him with a chuckle "And yeah... True..." She chuckled gently "Uhm... Fate said we shouldn't stay in one place too long... Maybe one more night here?" She suggested "That way I can pack up and send out my last paintings for a while..." She said gently "I've got some money saved up that we can use... It won't last forever but it's something at least... I mean we're gonna need food and clothes and stuff so." She chuckled. Edited at July 16, 2022 10:48 AM by MarbleFox Manor
