Sage hummed lightly and nodded. "Yeah, I've heard that plenty of times," he admitted a bit sheepishly. "Never had a reason to be nice to people or really care what they thought or felt." He shrugged slightly. "I think I like this better," he chuckled happily. Then he sorted out a louder laugh, wincing slightly as the movement sent pain through his chest. "I figured,* he noted with amusement.

Quinn's eyes twinkled. "Yeah... Sahara can be a real pain in the butt sometimes." She raised her voice slightly, looking out towards Sahara... who flicked her tail. Quinn chuckled and turned back to Sage. "Well you have a reason now. Get working... even though he might be shot in the gut, you weren't shot in the brain." Quinn wrinkled her nose slightly, wondering if Sage really could think... it would be a miracle. She laughed slightly at that thought, shaking her head,

Sage chuckled slightly and nodded. 'oh, can't we all, sometimes," he hummed, throwing the mare a rather amused look. He gave the girl a fake pout and would have crossed his as if it didnt hurt so much. "Are you saying I've been mean to you," he teased her lightly, eyes sparkling.

Quinn held back a smile. "Well... calling me crazy in exchange for calling you perfect, handsome, and the best person ever... yes. You are definitely beings mean to me." Quinn looked at him, obviously joking. She put a pout into her voice... which did not work in the least. So she ATTEMPTED to. Quinn frowned playfully, looking at Sage.

Sage chuckled lightly and rolled his eyes at the girl's pout. 'oh, I'm so sorry," he drawled, over exaggerating his sympathy towards the girl playfully. "How can I make it up to you," he half purred, his brain starting to go to mush again now that he'd been doing stuff for a while. He hadn't really meant to flirt, but it had sort of come out. Hopefully, she just labeled it as he was really tired and his brain has taken over their conversation.

Quinn wrinkled her nose. "Gosh, I'm sorry to say but your drawl... it just doesn't work." She held back a giggle, sitting back against the wall. "You should have listened to my fathers drawl... that was a southern accent down to earth drawl. You sound more like a monkey trying to sound like a Texan." Quinn teased Sage, his eyes sparkling happily. Quinn then realized... that was the first time she had ever even mentioned her father in front of Sage. She got quieter, staring out at the horses and wondered what he would say.

Sage snorted out a laugh, placing his hand over his wound as he tried to hold back his laughter so as not to hurt himself. "That's about how my brain is working right about now," he admitted in an amused manner. Then he cocked his head slightly. "You sound like you have better memories with him than your mother," he hummed. He was asking for some more information, but not directly...he was curious, but she'd gone quiet, and if she didn't want to talk about him, he wasn't going to make her. He hadn't mentioned his own mother to Quinn yet, so he didn't mind if she stayed quiet about it.

Quinn sighed. "Well... he was the one good decision my mom made in her life." She started. "I mineswell tell you about him... we are going to be together for a long, long while and you kind of deserve to know about me by now." Quinn offered a small smile, taking a deep breath and starting. "When my mom was younger... she was the princess, of course. There was this new guy in town... he had come all the way from Texas just to figure out what a castle looked like. The guy owned a cattle ranch, wore the jeans and the cowboy hat, the whole deal. Everyone thought he was crazy but my mom and him became friends. She loved how he was so kind and compassionate, always ready with a joke on hand. A couple years later... I was born. My mom had been hoping for a son, to be the heir to the throne. When I turned out to be a girl... a she got enraged. My father was appalled.. he couldn't believe she would get mad because I was a girl. He didn't want to leave because that would be unfatherly of him... but he couldn't stand being near my mom anymore. One day he died... mysteriously. No one ever found out why. His body was never found. My mom blamed me... and so the story went. She has hated me ever since. All I really knew of my father was his name, what he looked like, and his deep soothing voice. The rest I gathered from stories and books." Quinn finished, her eyes sad. "His name was Tyler Aaron Carter.. died at 26... he had black hair And the deepest blue eyes. From what I heard in the village he was the friendliest man ever." Quinn leaned back against the wall and stared out the door, trying to register what she said. It made her even more sad to actually hear the story... even though she knew it to Ben gruel.

Sage looked up at the girl from where he had his head resting on her lap, cocking his head slightly in curiosity as he listened. He hummed in thought once she was finished, understanding the feeling. "Well, he sounds like he was a good man," he murmured quietly. After a moment he sighed slightly. "It's a similar situation with my mother," he told the girl after a minute, shrugging slightly. "Except her death wasn't so mysterious...I watched dad kill her," he snorted, really quite bluntly. He sort of stared at the ceiling, his emotions flickering in his eyes. "I think I was around five....I still have nightmares about it," he whispered, closing his eyes with a sigh. He wasn't really sure why he was telling the girl this...but she'd shared her story with him, so he may as well share his story with her. "If I wake up screaming or freaking out...it probably has something to do with that, or dad somehow," he added on. He supposed that would be good for her to know...she did sleep with him after all.

Quinn felt even more sad as Sage told her what happened. "Yeah... let's just rule it out we both have horrible parents.! Quinn said quietly, thinking about her father. Everyone said he died... but no one found a body. No one confessed to killing him. No one ever figured out how he died. He just... disappeared. Quinn had a very small feeling he was still alive, though that was more of just hope than anything else.
