Mari huffed out a breath to him before rolling her eyes. "You still said I was mean," she retorted with a bit of a chuckle. She then wrapped herself around him tighter when he started trying to pull her off, though eventually she slipped and was tossed away from her. "Sage that's foul!" She yelped when she resurfaced, ans kind of started to paddle towards him the best she could before actually having to swim into the deeper parts of the river... he was daring her, so she couldn't really see much of an issue with what she was doing. If he didn't want her to chase him, he shouldn't have pulled her off him.

Sage let out a sort of cackle at her protest as she resurfaced. "Well, you're not dead or dying are you," he mused, still edging away from her as she sort of started to paddle towards him. He let himself lift off the floor after a moment, and sort of half floated half paddled away from her slowly, not willing to let her catch him quite yet. If she wanted him, she'd have to work to get him. He couldn't work too hard himself though, and she knew that....so she'd catch him soon enough. It wasn't like he didn't want her to catch him, anyway. She was warm....the meds made him cold, and while the water felt nice he knew it wouldn't last for very long. Besides, he did, admittedly, want some more kisses. Those were nice.

Mari glared at the boy from a distance and gave a soft huff. "I could have died! Then what?!" She joked as she wandered towards the boy, paddling into the slightly deeper water. "Cm'ere!" She chirped to him, trying to grab him but admittedly failing... she didn't really have anything to grab into him with, but if she could grab his shoulder she'd just limpet onto him. She knew he'd get tired soon slow down anyway, and she knew that. She just had to keep on going and soon enough she'd catch up to him. And the water was getting colder now, the longer they were in there... so the chances were that she'd have to run back to the little picnic area to get him.

Sage snorted at her comment and rolled his eyes, deftly avoiding her hand as she reached for him. "Well you're not dead, are you," he mused lightly, grinning over at her. "Noooo," he fake cried at her other comment, turning to paddle farther away. Admittedly, it was closer to the shore, where he could sort of reach the bottom, since he was already getting tired. His muscles were starting to ache and his breathing was definitely more of a panting sort. But he was having fun, and he wanted to keep going. He'd probably just end up on land with Mari catching him easily in a few minutes or so. The thought was admittedly rather amusing.

"No, not yet!" She yelped, kind of turning closer to shore so that she could touch the ground. She grabbed him after a little bit, and sort of jumped on his back, though they were really in very shallow water now... so it didn't take much for Sage to lose balance and fall back, his head landing on her lap, her head on dry land while from the waist down was in the small amounts of water. She sat still for a moment before giggling happily and wriggling out from underneath him and offering the boy a hand up once she'd made sure he was alright.

Sage chuckled at her comment and then moved away from her again, yelling in surprise when he felt her come from what he couldn't see her and land on his back. He attempted to keep upright, though that was definitely a losing battle, and he flopped over work a grunt. "Ok, ok, you caught me," he groaned. Then, "You cheated," her huffed lightly, taking her hand and hauling himself up with a huff. He was grinning though, and he really was happy to be able to mess about with Mari for a while.... It had certainly been a long time since they'd been able to do something like this.

Mari rolled her eyes at him, making a rather amused face. "I didn't cheat! Not my fault you're not quick enough," she mused, taking a few steps towards him and wrapping her arms lightly around his neck once they'd getten themselves out the water. "I'm not a cheater," she repeated again, a little bit of a purr in her voice... she was clearly just teasing, but she wouldn't have minded copping a few kisses and initiating some sort of banter from the whole thing. They seemed to have relaxed a little, which was more than nice how, though.

Sage huffed out a breath at her comment but flopped down onto the ground next to her with a sort of wheeze. He was happy though, and did catch the purr in her voice. He gave her a cocky grin and hummed lightly. "Are you flirting with me," he cooed, teasing her lightly. "I thought you said no more sex," he noted with amusement, eyes glittering. He knew she probably only was wanting a few kisses, but their teasing normally led to more than that once they got started messing around with eachother, so he wouldn't mind if that happened. He'd had a good time without it though too, so really he was just teasing her.

Mari hummed softly to him when he flopped down on the blanket, and kind of fell down next to him, wrapping one arm over his bare chest and half hovering over him. "What? Can I not flirt with my wonderful, handsome, gorgeous husband?" She asked happily, moving to press a quick peck to his lips. She wrinkled her nose

at him in a playful manner after a moment or two, though. "I never said anything about sex, did I?" She teased him gently before going to kiss his lips again. "There's plenty of other things we can do to get around it, don't you think," she teased him softly. She didn't mind what they did... she'd only said that to Sage to settle her nerves while Liz was born, but when she thought about it, they hadn't actually done anything like that since Liz's birth. She wouldn't mind if it did happen, though.

Sage hummed lightly and chuckled slightly at her comment, tilting his chin up slightly to catch her kisses happily. He gave her a grin at her comment after that though, humming as if in thought. "well, normally it leads to that. You just can't keep yourself away from me," he mused lightly, really just teasing her. It was ..somewhat true though, on both sides. But mostly he was just messing around. Though, he could admit he was hoping for some love. He had to admit he wasn't sure if Mari was serious about her previous comment or not though....he assumed she hadn't been, but now that it came to it, a nagging doubt settled in his stomach. What if she had been serious? He certainly didn't want to force anything on her or anything, but other than teasing a bit he was rather uncertain as how to proceed with all of this.
