"Are you even listening to me? Do you understand that you're losing me? Or are you choosing to ignore that too?"
| |

"Yes i'm listening!" He finally snapped, continuing on. "I've caught on to everything you've been doing which is unlike you, denying that coffee this morning? Usually you always have me get you one, but no! Not today, entire reason I even do that is for YOU. Every single tiny thing that's been off about you i've caught on! The entire time where things were getting awkward between us I was as confused as could be about what I did, guess leaving ONE TIME to try and benefit to the future is just horrible, and coming in exhausted and having no energy to do anything because of said work which I did ONE is awful."

| |

"No, you're not listening! We don't have a future if we're not there for each other! There is no benefiting our future if our relationship isn't working! The money doesn't matter if we aren't together!" she yelled back, tears welling in her eyes and dripping down her cheeks. "Do you even understand what happened to me?! A man followed me home, waited for the right moment, knocked me unconscious, and used my body in whatever way he pleased. You will never have to deal with anything like that simply because you are a guy. Someone used me. And whoever did that is still out there. We have no evidence from him. We don't know who he is, where he is or if he's going to come back for me again,"

Max pinched the bridge of his nose, resisting the urge to roll his eyes. Holy fuck she was starting to get under his skin. "Kylie, I can't help you with that. I'm not the police, I understand exactly what happened but I can't do anything about it."
| |
| |

"I'm not asking for you to be the goddamn police! I'm asking you to do the bare minimum of being home at night, and you comfort me when I'm upset. That's not a lot I ask from this relationship," she said. Kylie quieted her voice a little. "Max, you're over here talking about getting married when you can't even do the bare minimum."
| |

Max was quiet for a moment, her words echoing louder in his mind than they should've. "I've been gone once, you're going to let that ruin everything else while I still do what you ask? Still comfort you when you need it, still there for you, yet I messed up one time and suddenly that's all I do?" He asked, voice quiet, somewhat worse than yelling.
| |
| |

"Max, you left when something really bad happened. How can I trust that that won't happen again?" she whispered, tears still dripping down her cheeks. "If we have a future, if I ever have a miscarriage, and I'm upset about it, are you going to leave again?"
| |

Great. Now she was saying he hadn't been there before he left the ONE TIME. "No, i'm not going to." He murmured
| |
| |

"Okay, and if you 'had' to leave then, wouldn't you still apologize and try to comfort me when you got back?"
| |

Awesome. Great. Just great. Now she's using his words against him. Haha. Ha... "Yes, I would." Max sighed, giving up on even trying to defend himself anymore.
