Jora watched him closely, her heart fluttering as she saw the raw emotion flicker across Sage’s face. It wasn’t something she’d expected, but she realized just how much it meant to him. She had waited, yes, but only because she knew they should make this decision together. Her chest tightened as she saw him struggle to keep his emotions in check, wiping away tears. Her voice softened as she nodded in agreement. "Yeah… soon." She glanced down at their daughter, feeling that same swell of warmth, of everything falling into place just the way it was meant to. She hadn’t imagined a world where they didn’t get to share these moments together, and now here they were, just as they'd always hoped. She let out a soft laugh when the baby grabbed Sage’s finger, her tiny grip so strong, so determined already. “She’s already got you wrapped around her little finger, huh?” Jora said with a playful, but fond smile. Her gaze lingered on their daughter’s face for a long moment, then shifted back to Sage. When he spoke again, Jora’s heart skipped a beat. “She has your smile too,” she murmured, her voice barely above a whisper, her gaze locking with his for just a moment. Her eyes welled up again, but this time it was from something lighter, something full of hope. Their little girl, their family, was everything they’d dreamed of. She could see the future unfolding for her, and it was bright. “I know,” she whispered, the words nearly lost between them. “She’ll be safe with us. Always.” The promise hung between them, a silent vow to protect everything they’d built together.

Sage hummed quietly in agreement to her first comment, knowing they would find the right name for their baby girl now that they were all here. He would heal....he'd healed before, and he had all the more reason to heal now. He wouldn't give up, not when they were together. He let out a shaky chuckle at her tease, though this time it was a real laugh...not the bitter bark of dry laughter he'd become used to. No, this was genuine. Something that would warm both their hearts. "I don't think that will ever change," he admitted, a smile lingering softly on his face. He wished this moment would never end ...just the raw goodness of it all. The three of them, a family. Meeting his baby. It wouldn't last, though, and he knew that...but he could only hope that the future would continue to be this nice. He thought it would be. They were together, safe, and they would build their life up again. After a few seconds had gone by and the baby had released his fingers, he'd wiped them on his pants and then shifted carefully so as not to disturb the child. But he could hold his hand out to Jora, sort of inviting her into the cuddle. She'd been cautious...not wanting to spook him or anything...but he missed her. Missed her touch, her warmth, her scent. He appreciated it, waiting for him to be ready, but he needed her comfort. He did. She didn't have to sit on the edge of the bed and not touch him more than holding his hand or wiping away a tear. He wanted to nestle into her again, to loose himself in the comfort she brought to the table.

Jora’s heart fluttered at the sound of his laugh—genuine, real. She hadn’t realized how much she’d missed that sound until it filled the room, like a piece of their life had clicked back into place. She could see it in his eyes, the way his expression softened, how he held the baby like she was the most precious thing in the world. And she was. They both were. When his hand reached out to her, an invitation to come closer, to be with him, it was like a pull she couldn’t ignore. Her pulse quickened at the thought of easing into his warmth, of fitting against him the way they always had. The room felt charged with that quiet, undeniable need for closeness, for something to hold on to—something they could both rely on. She hesitated for only a moment, thinking of the space he'd needed, how careful she'd been to give him room. But she could feel the weight of his need, the longing in his touch, and she let her reservations slip away. With a soft exhale, she slid closer, her hand meeting his before her body followed. She sank into the bed beside him, her head finding the familiar curve of his shoulder, and wrapped her arm across his chest.

For a brief moment, Sage felt panic rising in his chest as Jora heasitated moving in any closer. What if she didn't want to? What if she'd moved on after thinking he was dead for an long? Those worries all melted away when she moved to crawl into the bed though, sinking down with him and the baby. Her breath caused his heart to practically stop beating ...there was no faking that. She was glad he was back. She wanted to be with him. He pressed a soft kiss to the top of her head as she wrapped herself around him, his own arm going around her while the other one cradled the baby. "God, I missed you," he breathed after a moment, just nestling his nose into her hair, tension easing from his body as they settled down together. He'd thought this would never happen ...that she was gone for good. That he'd never meet his baby, never know if he'd had a daughter or a son, or what it's name would have been. He'd never see their home again, after all the work they'd put into it to make it theirs. Make it safe for their family. After a while though, his curiosity got the better of him. "After you got to land...how did you manage," he asked. "What all happened?" She'd said she'd gotten to shore and pretty much immediately gone into labor...but he didn't know anything else. And he wanted to know. To understand. Who was the other lady with them? He'd seen her face before, when they'd first found him. Yikes...what did she think of him? All she knew of him was some drunk twink. That hurt, a little bit more than he liked to admit. Because that's definitely not his personality. He just hoped, if would be involved with him and Jora and the baby, that she gave him a chance. "And how long are we supposed to stay here? I can't even tell whats wrong with me because of the medicine they keep pumping into me," he added with a sort of huff, question after question running through his mind.

Jora's fingers traced the baby’s tiny fingers, feeling the soft weight of their child nestled between them. She could hear the rhythm of Sage’s heartbeat in the quiet, the sound of it grounding her in the moment. His kiss to the top of her head felt like the final piece of a puzzle she hadn’t realized was missing. He’d been gone for so long, and yet, in this second, everything was right again. She shifted slightly, pulling herself closer to him, her breath steady but deep. “I missed you, too,” she whispered, her voice rough, as if she’d been holding back the words for so long that they had finally burst out. His presence, his warmth, filled a void she didn’t even know was there. It felt like the world was finally settling back into place after spinning out of control for so long. When Sage asked about everything—about how she managed after getting to shore, about the woman with them—Jora felt a tightness in her chest. There was so much to say, but the words were heavy. It wasn’t just the labor and the isolation, it was everything she’d been through since that day they thought he was gone. “I...” Her voice faltered, but she pressed on. “After I got to shore, it was hard. The other woman—her name is Selene—she was there. She helped me... when things got worse. She knew things I didn’t. She stayed with me and helped me deliver our daughter. I wasn’t... I wasn’t alone, but it was so hard. I kept thinking about you.” Jora swallowed, the memory of that constant ache coming back in waves. She’d had to survive, for their child, but it had never felt right without Sage. Her hand found his, her fingers curling around his to reassure herself that he was there, that he hadn’t just slipped back into some other impossible dream. “Selene, she knows what she saw, but I—" She hesitated. "I don’t think it matters now. Not with us, not with the baby. I'm grateful for her help, I truly am. She helped when she had to, but she’s not... she’s not us. She’s not family.” The weight of his other question was enough to make her pause again. How long were they supposed to stay here? The medicine, the uncertainty—it was all a blur to her too. She didn’t know the answers, but she knew that with Sage here now, they could get through anything. “I don’t know, Sage. I wish I did. But I’ll stay with you. For as long as it takes.” She pressed her face against his chest, feeling the steady beat of his heart once again. “We’ll figure this out. Together.” Her hand found his again, holding on tight, and she knew one thing for sure: They were both home now.

Joras words sent a pang through his chest as she mentioned she hadn't known what to do. How hard it had been. He let out a soft breath, shaking his head slightly. "I wish I'd been there," he murmured. "I got buried under enough planks that I couldn't get up until I was dumped into the ocean," he added as a sort of explanation, with a sort of chuckle. He hadn't appreciated that very much....he'd tried his best to get back to Jora, but he hadn't been able to. It sucked, but that's what had happened. But things were working themselves out again, so they'd be alright. "Selene," he mused. So that was her name. "Well, I'll have to thank her anyway," he noted softly. "She helped you." He really was grateful to the older woman. Even if she snapped at him, or looked disgusted or...whatever, he still wanted to thank her for helping Jora. Probably saving her, and quite possibly the baby too. "I know," he hummed softly as she said she'd stay. "I'm not going anywhere either," he noted, looking down at the baby who had started to wriggle around in his arms. "We'll go home soon," he added, desperately hoping that was going to be true. He didn't feel bad....it would just be getting him to where his body was strong enough to travel and all that fun stuff. Soon enough though, the baby had started to whine, and he chuckled softly, moving to hand her back to Jora. "She's probably hungry," he noted softly. He wasn't sure if Jora had been breastfeeding or used a bottle...but either way she was the one with the milk. Of course, if she had bottles he'd love to feed her....but the likelier option was breastfeeding he imagined. And he clearly couldn't do that for her. That was an amusing thought though.

Jora's heart clenched at his words, a soft ache filling the space between them. She hated that he had been buried under planks, struggling, unable to reach her. She could hear the sorrow in his voice, even as he tried to laugh it off. "I wish you had been there too," she whispered, her fingers lightly brushing over his hand. "I kept thinking...maybe if I could just find a way to hold on...you'd come back." Her eyes softened when he mentioned Selene, and she nodded. "She's been...a lifesaver. I never thought I'd have someone like her around, but I'm glad she showed up when she did." She couldn’t help but feel a deep gratitude for the older woman. Even with her sharp words, Selene had been there when it mattered. His words about staying with her, sticking together, made her heart swell. She had feared being alone for so long, but with him here, even in the quiet moments, everything felt a little more bearable. "I know," she murmured, the assurance in his voice comforting her more than she could say. When the baby began to whine, she chuckled softly and took her back into her arms. "You’re probably right," Jora said, gently cradling their daughter. The thought of him trying to feed her made her smile. "I’m afraid you’re not equipped for this," she teased lightly, her tone full of affection. She settled the baby at her chest, feeling the familiar connection between them, and leaned back a little to look up at him. "Thank you, though... for being here. You don’t know how much it means."

Sage hummed softly in agreement to her words, nodding along. "Well I'm glad you did hang on," he mused softly. "I'm not sure where I'd be right now if you hadn't. We certainly wouldn't be here together," he noted softly. The scary part was, he did sort of know where he'd be. And that was either still in the tavern, or he would have died some slow agonizing death where anyone could see and judge. He wasn't sure which one was worse. Though, he nodded when she mentioned Selene, grateful to the woman for helping Jora out. "I supposed I'll have my work cut out for me trying to convince her I'm actually a decent human being," he sort of groaned, though there was a twinge of amusement in his tone. He handed the baby over carefully once Jora agreed she was probably hungry, a small grin forming on his face at her comment. "No, I don't suppose I'd be much help here," he noted lightly. "I can't say I'm upset about it either," he admitted, eyeing the way the baby had latched on to Jora. It didn't look like the most comfortable thing in the world. Though after giving birth it probably wasn't all that bad. He hummed softly when she thanked him, just settling down and curling up into her side, the way he always used to. "I should be the one thanking you," he noted softly. "But I'm not going to leave," he promised, though it was quite, since his eyes were already fluttering closed again. He'd exhausted himself, he supposed....but that was ok. He could rest here, curled up in Joras warmth. The way it should be. The way he'd longer for for so long. He passed out pretty quickly, though, falling onto a nice deep sleep....one of which he had had in a good long while.

Jora couldn’t help but smile at Sage’s words, feeling a soft warmth spread through her chest. He had no idea how much hearing him say that meant to her. She leaned her head back slightly, glancing down at him as he settled beside her, so close she could feel the steady rhythm of his breathing. His presence was comforting, more so than anything else in this world, and it had been for so long. "You’re here now," she murmured, a quiet certainty in her voice. "That’s all that matters." She gently ran her fingers through his hair, brushing it away from his face. It was the small things, like this, that made everything feel right. As for Selene... Jora gave a small, amused snort at his words. "She’ll come around. You’re a good person, Sage," she said, even if he didn’t always see it himself. It wasn’t about convincing anyone; it was about the fact that Jora knew him better than anyone ever could. She adjusted the baby carefully, settling him against her so he was more comfortable. She winced slightly, but there was something peaceful about it too, the soft weight of the child against her, the trust in his little sighs. It was natural, in a way. When Sage curled up beside her, Jora’s heart swelled with a mix of emotions. There were so many things they had yet to work through, but they had this. He was here. He was with her. And that was enough for now. She leaned her head against his, her voice barely above a whisper. "Thank you, Sage. For everything." Then, seeing the peace wash over him as he drifted to sleep, she just held him tighter, her own exhaustion creeping in. They’d face whatever came next, together.

Sage had managed to hum softly in resposne to her comments, agreeing with what she'd said, but drifting off enough so that he really wasn't able to get much of a response out. But he'd responded at least a little bit, so he was rather proud of himself, sicne he really was tired. He would have loved to stay awake with his family, but that's just not what his body was capable of at this point in time. He was regaining his strength, but it was a slow process. He felt much better already, but they'd been pumping him full of medicine and whatever liquid sugar stuff they'd tossed in him to get in all the nutrients he needed to do...well, he wasn't doing very much, but what he needed to do pretty much anything. He hadn't had a solid meal yet...he hadn't been up and awake and all that long enough, but he'd get there eventually. He had a purpose now...something he could work towards. Even if it was just for Jora and the baby...he would work as hard as he needed to to get wherever he needed to be. He hoped she knew that. He woke up a few hours later, stirring slightly, a sleepy smile coming across his face as he noted Jora still there. He was still curled up in her warmth, still next to his baby girl. He was still half asleep, not entirely aware of anything that was really going on...but he did know they were there. And really that was all he cared about.
