"I can't." Ajax replied drily, snorting a little and rolling his eyes. "Ay! Don't put down the height! Not my fault!" Ajax complained, getting up and walking to the fridge to grab some cheese. He huffed a little as he sat down, sprinkling the cheese on the eggs before realizing it was missing more. He stood again and grabbed salt and pepper before sitting back down again.

"I dunno, I just think you'd be a whole lot more handsome if you were 4'3"." Mercy said sarcastically, watching him with a smile as she started to eat her food. "Anyway, what's the plan for today? Besides you cutting down a tree." She teased.

Ajax opened and closed his mouth in mock fury. "Never! I am handsome enough at 6'5 thank you very much miss I-can-fit-under-places-that-most-other-normal-people-would-hit-their-heads-because-I'm-SHORT!" He huffed, a joking tone flaring along with his dramatic spew of words. Ajax stabbed his eggs with a fork, glaring at them. "See, you made me mad enough to murder the baby chickens." He joked with a growly tone, then focused and answered. "Well, prep for cutting down the tree, then actually cutting down the tree, then picking up after cutting down the tree. Sounds like enough work to me." Ajax commented with a wry grin. "Buuut there are like, thousands of things for you to do. Literally whatever you want if it doesn't include going away from the house because I'm terrified something will happen.

"Well, I guess you're okay looking at 6'5". You're just jealous because I can actually fit through doorways." Mercy scoffed, rolling her eyes at him and continuing to eat. "Shh, you know you love it." She teased, huffing. "Is that all we're gonna do while were here? You're gonna cut down trees and I'm gonna watch you cut them down?" She huffed, but she softened as his last sentence hit her. "Ajax, I'm a big girl. I can handle myself. Either way, I was thinking about going on a trip today if you're just gonna be working at the tree all day." She shrugged.

"OKAY LOOKING?! I expected more." Ajax sighed, looking disappointed as he dug into the food. "Ok fine, I love it. I'll shush." He snorted a little, lifting his eyebrows before sighing and leaning back. "Ok, you're right, that's not fair at all." He mumbled, stopping as she spoke. "A trip? To where?" Ajax inquired, then finished his thought. "I just don't want you hurt. I know you can take care of yourself. Sorry for being overbearing." He said quietly, looking back at the food as he took another bite.

"Alright, I guess you look pretty cute." Mercy grinned, chuckling at him. "I knew it." She teased, before she stopped eating as his tone change. "No, I don't mind it, Ajax, I just had something I wanted to do. It's just... it's an errand. Nothing special." She shrugged, watching him anxiously. She frowned as he continued, taking his hand and gently intertwining their fingers. "Hey." She said softly, holding his gaze. "Don't feel bad. You're not being overbearing. You're being protective, and I love that. You know what? You can even come with me if you want." She hesitated toward the end, but she didn't take it back.

Ajax glanced up with a small shake of his head. He waited for Mercy to finish, letting out a small breath. "Naw, I trust you. If you say it's nothing special, then I don't need to stick my nose places wherre it doesn't belong." He commented. "And I don't feel bad, shsuh." Ajax finished gruffly, attempting and failing to hide the fact he DID feel bad- but that didn't matter. "I'll just do my own business and cut one tree down, and who knows- maybe you'll be gone long enough I can cut two down." He chuckled a little.

Mercy frowned and stood, walking to his side and leaning down to wrap her arms around him. "Yes, you do." She muttered huffily, burying her face into the crook of his neck. She didn't laugh at his joke, she simply pulled back enough that she could hold his gaze. "I think you should come with me. It'll be nice to go somewhere new." She offered, smiling at him.

"Ok ok- sheesh, nothing I say seems to be right! Be concerned, NOPE that's not okay, pretend I don't care, also not okay, Mercy I'm kinda stuck now." Ajax snorted a little, his tone sarcastic. "If you want me to come, I'll come. It's not like I want to perform backbreaking work from dawn till dusk." He mused, lifting his eyebrows slightly. "So um- where are you going?" Ajax inquired again.

Mercy huffed. "It's not THAT bad." She huffed, gently trailing her fingers through his hair again. She bit her lips at his question. "Of course I want you to come, it's just... it's just kind of hard to explain." She muttered, walking back to her plate and giving some bacon to Binx and Rex before she washed her plate off and put it away.
