why is life so complicated to make simple

Oh it took a few years. And not great ones either. I had just gone through 2 super shitty jobs and had be looking for another job for months and my buddy and a few others kept pushing me towards college and I would say no I'm not ready. I guess maybe I was afraid I wasnt ready? I dont really know. But I dont regret waiting

I finally quit my design job last week. The burnout, stress and micromanagement I had to deal with was insane, that it was starting to affect my health, but this was in the print industry doing a lot of non-design work (do not recommend LOL, my coworkers and I referred to it as "designer jail").

In high school I worked at a newspaper as sort of an intern or back up to help with layout and stuff and thats how I discovered I liked it but I still waited several years before one morning I woke up and my heart was like 'this is it. college here I come'

Graphic design. I'm taking it accelerated and online so I'm about half done. Only a year and a half or 9.5 terms to go.

Zrek I love typography and layout design but it wont ruin my love of creating art so that's what my jobs and portfolio are focused towards

Yeah. That's why I kinda determined I need to figure out the career fields that drive me in a different form. More like I enjoy doing it because it's more like learning a skill I appreciate every day directly and has a purpose, rather than just solely for $$$. Otherwise it feels like I'm just another cog doing cog things.
Stormsong Manor
The job I have right now only needed a four year degree with no specifications
Stormsong Manor
It drained me. I don't work full time in graphic design and never have. I've done a bunch of freelance and I've done design work in other roles, but I knew when I graduated that I didn't want to pursue it full time. And I was 110% set on it being my career.

That's the thing - I could see myself having the enjoyment drained out of it if I did it as a career in the wrong way. That's why I'm questioning what my education should be for/in. Because I still wanna at least pursue my passions on the side, but I equally don't want my base income to be something that doesn't give me some sort of drive and improvement of my personal existence.

It's not as bad with the applied arts like graphic design but it's still cutthroat and your portfolio and connections rule all.
