Kylie hadn't heard him come in. She got up to go get water but found him in the kitchen. "Oh... hey," she sniffled, going over to fill up her glass. Something moved outside in the woods, and she jumped, scared, wiping her tears away as she sipped on the water.

"Oh uhm....hi.." He murmured, suddenly feeling really awkward with her. What had happened? Had he done something? Why did it feel so... wrong being with her? "Hey uh, what... happened between us? Why are things so like, awkward now? Did I do something? I'm sorry if I did I just, want to know what happened." Max said quietly, regretting even speaking.

"Nothing, its... just... Max... you care about your work than you care about me," she said, her voice fading at the end.
| |

"Kylie, what are you talking about?" He asked, confused.
| |
| |

"That night when you left me alone? You didn't call. Didn't text. Nothing. I got SA'd less than a week ago, Max, and you just think its okay to leave me alone at night? I was crying right in front of you, and you didn't comfort me, didn't wipe my tears away, and apologize. Its like I don't even matter anymore,"

"I had to go, my boss hates me, if he calls me to get there, I have to go. If I don't, i'm risking losing the job, which means i'll most likely lose alot of things i've worked my ass off to get, and have less money to get you what you deserve. And I didn't want to leave, I really didn't, but I had to. Didn't call or text because I thought you'd be asleep, didn't want to wake you up." He explained softly
| |
| |

"You know I have my phone on vibrate, always. And still, you didnt say anything! Didn't even tell me where you were! And it's not even about that! I was crying and you didn't comfort me, instead you chose to defend yourself when I hadn't accused you of anything, I wasn't upset or angry with you, I just needed someone to comfort me, and you couldn't even do that!" She began to raise her voice before stopping to take a breath. "You say you would've risked losing your job by not going, but if you're not gonna be here for when I need you, you're going to start risking losing me,"

| |

Max just let her yell, at this point just feeling like he was feeding a fire. "Kylie I didn't know your phone is on vibrate all the time for one, I told you where I was going for two, and for three I was already half asleep by the time I got here and walked in. I hadn't slept in an entire day," He replied back, keeping his volume in check and not yelling though his tone was more bitter and harsh now.

| |

"No, Max, we had that conversation when I cried, well after you had gotten your rest. You had a whole day of sleep, and you still did nothing to comfort me. I hadn't slept in two days during that conversation, but you? Oh, you had the luxury to walk in here, ignore me and go right to bed,"
| |

Max barely even listened to her words anymore, all of them sounding nonsense. "And as I said, I was already half asleep and you had two parents you could've gone to while I was gone." He answered back. -I didn't even have one to count on, both of them straight up ignored me and my sister.- The man wanted to add, though he didn't.
