Sage nodded slowly, still staring out over the water, eyes bleak. "I came home and she had a fever. All I could do was sit there. You don't get a fever in the winter here and survive. She was gone by midnight." He shrugged slightly. "At least she was asleep. I didn't see her torn open or .." he trailed off, not knowing what to say to that. He'd seen plenty of people torn open, his mom even, but this was different. She had gone peacefully, he was grateful for that. "She's somewhere better."

Anya bit her lip slightly, unsure what to say after that. "Sorry," was all she could manage. Lizzie had so much to offer. She wanted to be the village doctor, and help people, so things like this didn't

happen so much. Anya didn't know how to react. She hadn't known Lizzie long, but she had liked the girl. Yet, she didn't reserve the right to cry or be upset about it. Not now, not after she left them both. "Are... are you alright?" She asked quietly. Sage seemed so distant, so empty. This was his sister, someone who thought the world of him, and someone he lived for, not just some stranger on the streets. Surely that meant he was at least a little upset. Or maybe he just wasn't showing it because of just how much it hurt.

Sage was silent for a moment before shrugging. Was he alright? He was always able to get back up and move on, to push through the rough. But now he didn't really want to. He was tired...tired of fighting. Tired of hurting. He didn't have a reason to stay anymore...he could just fade away. It would be more peaceful than getting gored by a knife or something. If he stopped eating and drinking, it wouldn't take long, he was already way undernourished. Anya seemed to care, still, which should have been comforting. But he didn't think anything could help now

Anya scanned Sage for some sort of expression... but all she got was a shrug. Now what? She couldn't leave now. She was worried that something might happen to the boy, or that he might do something to hurt himself. But Sage didn't seem thrilled with the company. And Anya didn't want to be somewhere that she couldn't do anything. She looked to the ground, holding her knees a bit tighter. "Do you want me to do anything? Get you something to eat or drink?" That seemed like another dumb question. She couldn't imagine how he was feeling, and the chances were that he wasn't hungry anyway.

Sage glanced over at the girl, thinking. Did he want her to do that? Or did he honestly just want to give up? He thought for a second before slowly shaking his head. "I appreciate the gesture, Anya, but I'm not hungry." He looked back over at the lake, staring into the air again. He leaned back against the tree trunk and closed his eyes for a moment before opening them again. "I don't really think there's anything either of us can do to help. I just have...deal with it. Like I've dealt with everything else." At least, he had do deal with it until he was dead. Which was probably only going to be a few days, if he plan went the way he hoped. But those few days still seemed like a lifetime. Maybe if he sought out someone to fight and purposely lost it would be quicker. But he couldn't exactly go do that while Anya was here. No, he'd have to just sit for a while longer.

Anya nodded slowly, her body a little stiff. She didn't want to leave him here, but really, after so long of not even bothering to come and find him, what right did she have to stay? She wasn't even out here now to see him, it was just a coincidence that he was there. She sighed slightly, taking the other half of her cloak back before shifting to sit on her knees. "Do you want me to go?" God, she had nothing to say. She should be able to help him, to say something to lift his spirits. But Lizzie was dead. There was nothing she could do about that.

Sage thought about that for a moment and then shrugged once again. "You can stay if you want to. It doesn't matter." He really didn't care...if Anya wanted to stay she could, and if she wanted to leave he could do as he pleased. He'd wander off, or stay, but one way or another he supposed he'd be with Lizzie soon. Or would he? Suddenly the thought stuck him that Lizzie had never murdered someone, or done anything like sell her body in bed with someone else at night like he had done. Would they be in the same place after death? That thought made him heasitate. What would death fix? He tried to puzzle over that, then gave up. Death would be easier, no matter where he went. He would die soon anyway, speeding things up a bit wouldn't change much. And Anya. She had left ... There was no way she could still care. She probably wouldn't even know he was dead for weeks. And she might be a bit sad, but then she would move on. She was already most of the way moving on, she would just have to finish.

Anya shook her head slightly. She didn't need to stay, but she wasn't going to leave unless he asked her too. "I'm not leaving unless you tell me to. I'm a little bit worried about you," she glanced over at his sisters grave again. The ground was freshly turned, and the snow around it still had traces of mud littered messily over its white coat. This still must have been so fresh. Sage was quite obviously shocked by it. Lizzie was the only light in his life, and Anya must have flickered out a while back. She still needed to go home and get some rest. She wanted to get Sage moving again, so that he wouldn't just sit there and freeze to death. "Will you walk with me?" She breathed quietly. She still had the pond and back through the forest to go, so it wouldn't hurt to have him with her for a while.

Sage sat there for a moment before nodding slowly. "I suppose so. Not like I have anything better to do." He stood up slowly, stiff and honestly a bit sore. He figured that he could get up and moving, and then on his way back find some sort of trouble or fight to get himself into. It was the best he could think of through the fog that seemed to hover over his entire existence. He could walk with Anya, though, it was better than sitting in the snow.

The girl nodded and started wandering along the little track, just a few paces in front of him. It was quiet... too quiet. Anya had never been good with the silence, and had always had to fill it with something. That was part of the reason she had left him in the first place. It scared her. She had to stop things before they went too far... before anything got more... intimate. She didn't know what Sage was thinking, and that scared her too. Especially now. What was Sage going to do when she left? Would he be alright? It didn't even seem like Anya was even walking with him. Like they were just... strangers.
