He awoke the next morning, staying still with his eyes shut to try to fall back asleep.

Kylie woke slowly but didn't move, not wanting to wake him. She thought about what happened yesterday... it wasn't his fault that he had to stay in and work, but he didn't text her... didn't let her know where he was... and it seemed like he cared more about his work than he did for her... She would never tell him to go get another job, if he was happy and getting paid, she had no problem with it, but when she had started to cry, he didn't reach out to her, didn't comfort her until an hour later, didn't try to understand... it felt like he didn't care. That it wasn't a big deal. That her getting assaulted was just another thing that happened.
