Max was a bloody mess... Her hair was matted as well but she was fighting with all she had at least until there was a blade through her shoulder causing her to utter a blood-curdling scream as the blade was twisted and swiftly yanked out of her again... With that Max was down and holding her shoulder a demon smiled and went to bring a sword down on her Max caught the sword in her line of vision and grabbed her own with her bad arm holding it up to block and doing her best to keep the enemy sword away. She cried out in pain as she huddled on the ground trying desperately to protect herself. This time she couldn't resist "Sage!!!" She cried desperately needing his help as blood gushed from her wound. |

Sage whipped his head around when he heard Max's pained yell, and threw his dagger since he knew he couldn't get to her in time if he just ran...the demon was too close for that. The battle wasn't over...not yet. The dagger buried itself in the demon attacking Max, killing him instantly. However, sage was now weaponless, and the demons around him took advantage of that, leaping at him all at once. Sage fought, of course he did, but when one of them got a lucky hit in his side, a deep one he knew would really be close to fatal if he didn't get it stitched up soon, he went down under them all. He still fought, and he'd keep fighting, but he needed Roxies help now....she was the only one that could do much...he killed plenty of demons, but more just took their place. |

Max gasped with relief and got to her feet again holding her shoulder as she whipped around to see Sage get buried underneath a pile of demons she went to charge over when a giant paw/leg stopped her "Better not... Not with that shoulder... Let me handle it... You can send your dragon in if you like but not you physically..." She said firmly Maxine nodding hesitantly as Roxie got off her mount and began picking the demons off one by one while Max sent in her dragon to take out the others before she bolted to her fiancee putting her hand on his wound and doing her best to heal it... It wasn't all the way but she did manage to get it closed up a little before she pulled her hand away and grabbed her own arm as she looked at Sage her blue eyes fixed on her fiancee as she heaved breaths. Her limbs and exposed skin was stained in blood and her hair was matted with it but she threw her good arm around him as soon as he sat up burying her face in his shoulder "She's safe... She's in our secret spot..." Maxine whispered in his ear before pulling away and looking at him and explaining what had happened before frantically apologizing. |

Sage was glad Maxine knew how to heal so easily, otherwise he would have been much worse l. Even so, he held his hands up to stop her talking...he could barely understand her she was going to fast. "Woah woah woah, calm down max. If you're here I knew she'd be safe or you'd be with her." His side was still hurt, still sore...she couldn't heal him all the way, but he'd manage. "What exactly happened?" Cerberus was taking care of all the demons around the and the battle was over by then, so they could sit and talk. Besides, even that seemed like so much work...he was exhausted, and the dozens of cuts and bruises, plus his side didn't help. |

"Talk later..." Roxie said firmly "Let's get both of you out of here... The enemy troops are running... I think your dragon did the trick..." Roxie smirked playfully helping Sage up "But let's not take any chances..." She said firmly. Once again they were back in the same room where Max had woken up when she'd first became a demon. She and Sage we're laid out on the bed while healers went to work on the two of them "Now you can talk..." Roxie said talking a seat in the room she too was curious as to what happened "I was out getting medicine for Charlie... She was sick and these demons showed up... They gave Charlie some medicine after they paralyzed me..." She said continuing on "I don't know why they brought me here... I assumed for leverage against you and Roxie..." She said "Or to kill me... I mean think about it... You two are busy with the war the demons are free to go after me... Bringing me here could potentially give him the leverage he needs to defeat you guys..." She pointed out "My life in exchange for your surrender... You said Roxie had spies they had to have too." She pointed out. |

Sage frowned and nodded, waving the remaining healers away. He could take care of himself later, that wasn't important right then...he wasn't hurt enough to need stitches or anything, and while he was hurting he would be hurting once they got him fixed up too, so really, it didn't matter. They grumbled as they walked away, muttering about infection and whatever doctors complained about. Well, sage wasn't new to how dangerous infections were...he'd lived out by himself on the streets after all. But he knew how to take care of himself...and if he did get sick, Max was caring enough to help him. He trusted her more than anyone else, too. "Well, it probably would have worked if they did that," he admitted. "Unless I came up with some crazy plan to slip around the rules." He could do that, but not quickly in that situation he didn't think ..he'd done it before but not with Max's life at stake. He huffed out a breath. "We captured or killed all of their troops though...is that not enough for them to surrender? They have no leader or army," he grumbled. He would have surrendered...and maybe he was grumpy because he was tired and hurting, but it was true, and his words held meaning. |

"Yeah... And you coming up with a loophole with me in the mix? You're joking right Sage?" Maxine teased lightly "I agree I call BS on that too..." Roxie agreed with a chuckle before Roxie shrugged "For now yes... But if they're resilient enough they'll lick their wounds and come back..." Roxie guessed "If they come back though it'll likely be in fewer numbers... People will lose faith in their cause and choose my side living in peace in the rift." She shrugged "It may not be satisfying for them completely but it's better then dying right?" She pointed out. Maxine nodded "True..." She admitted looking toward Sage "By the way... I know what you meant now by you have your own fighting style... You were amazing..." Max smiled as Roxie casually stepped out of the room. |

Sage was still a bit distracted but glanced over at Max when she spoke. He gave her a tired smile and shrugged. 'i have a lot more fighting experience than most of the other demon's so it's not really comparable," he protested, color tinting his cheeks as he still wasn't used to compliments. Max made sure to treat him well, and he knew she loved him, and compliments dropped all the time. But he still wasn't used to bigger ones like this. But he did enjoy them ...he could admit that fact. |

"No... I saw you." She told him with a smile "You were incredible." She purred scooting closer to him. And nuzzling into him "I love you so much..." She said gently. A few hours went by and Max decided she'd had quite enough of the healers and the rift "You can stay here if you like... But I've been separated from Charlie for far too long..." She said gently looking at him. |

Sage shook his head and squeezed her gently. 'im coming with you. I've been away from home too long too," he sighed. He grinned sheepishly. "I need a good night's sleep too," he admitted softly. He was going with Max ...the battle was over, the danger zone for now. He could go with her...there was no danger and he really needed her and Charlie, and their cozy litrle home. |
