Lorelei whimpered, her heart shattering, feeling so violated and so played. She pointed at him, choking on her tears. "I was wrong- I was so wrong about you-" she choked out. "You're just like you're father,"

"You bitch!" He bellowe, storming over to her. He had added quite a bit of whiskey to his coffee and his mind was slightly blurred. He grabbed her wrist firmly. "You do not talk to me that way, bitch!" He yelled

Loreleis mind registered his slurred speech. He'd been drinking... She immediately went into self defense mode and twisted her hand out of his grip, kneed him in the groin, punched him in the stomach and grabbed his coffee cup from his hand, smashing it into his head. She stepped away from him, breathing hard and still crying. Lorelei spat on him. "You." she pointed to him. "Are. Just. Like. Your. Father. Stay the fuck away from me!" she yelled at him, storming away and grabbing her bags going to the curb and calling her limo.

Lorelei got into her limo, terrified. Once inside, she broke down sobbing as the driver took her home. She though he was the one, she really though he was the one...

Weeks went by and Kai slowly drank his mind--and regret--away. He would occasionally complete jobs for his father and get paid a decent amount to keep funding his drinks. He had a few one-night-stands and some girls he had to nearly shove away. He was called one day, entirely sober, to his father's office beside another of his father's men. "The next target for you, Jim, is Lorelei Bonetti. And for you, Kai,-" But his fatherwas cut off by Kai's storming out of the room. "Well, alright then." Kai drove furiously home, unable to believe the woman he still loved was going to die. Later that night, Kai followed Jim on foor to the bar Lorelei was assumed to be. He watched and waited behind Jim, his gun on his shoulder and his eye trained through the scope, waiting

Lorelei was miserable. She hated the marks on her neck and chest that reminded her of their nights together. She hated them when they were there, and she hated them even more once they faded, leaving her with nothing but the memory of him. Lorelei stopped reading her books. She didn't believe in love anymore. All her books were all romances, and she couldn't believe any of it was true, not after Kai. Lorelei stalked Kai on social media, finding pictures of him posing happily and with other women. Seemed like it was really true, it was all fake and she meant nothing. Her father made her get a job so she wasn't just laying around the house all day, crying. The only place she could go was the bar. She didn't drink, but the only other place looking for work was a bookstore and she couldn't do that. At least at the bar, everyone there was just as miserable as she was, drowning themselves in alcohol. Although, after Kai alcohol scared her even more now. She still never drank, and she sold her body off to drunk men. She was used to it by now, getting taken advantage of, but at least she got paid for it now. The drunk men had destroyed her body, but at least she provided some sort of happiness to other miserable people, even though it made her condition even worse. This night was no different. She was currently at the bar, wiping down the counter. She had a customer later that night, but she tried not to think about that too much.

Lorelei didn't even look up from the counter. "Sorry, shift doesn't end until 11 and I have a customer after, you'll have to wait till Wednesday," she muttered. She was so different. Dark circles under her eyes from no sleep, her cheeks hollow and her body thin from not eating much.

Kai's heart felt like it was ripped out of his chest, watching the broken version of the woman he still loved despite everything he'd said. "Aw, c'mon...I'll pay triple" Jim offered, flashing the hundreds Edited at June 11, 2025 05:35 PM by Blue Diamond
