Max gave a sigh "I can't help but feel like somehow it is my fault..." She admitted before giving a small sigh and smiling some her tone lightening a little "Well I'm glad you don't hate me, and you better not get killed out there... You have a future wife and a daughter to come home too... Don't you forget that." She said firmly giving a sigh as Charlie started fussing "In my head I know you're right..." Maxine admitted "In my heart however... It needs a little convincing..." She said giving a sigh "I'm sorry... I've gotta go... Charlie is getting fussy..." She said gently "I don't care how or when you do it... Just come home." She told him "I love you so much Sage... I'll be with you in spirit I promise..." She told him... After he said his goodbyes she hung up the phone and put it aside looking at Charlie "I know... I miss him too." She said gently.

The next two days went by in a blur for Max... She stocked up on things she might need for a good month... Maybe two of she rationed it... Though she hoped she wouldn't have to wait that long for a call or something from Sage telling her everything was alright. On the third day her anxiety rhamped up and she found herself getting like she had been whilst she was carrying Charlie... Fiercely protective... She put the runes up on the walls and even managed to brand Charlie's wrist like shed done to her own... The poor little girl screamed because it hurt and made Max feel guilty... But she had to protect Charlie... She promised Sage she would. Though... She hadn't thought of one thing though... She hadn't thought about Charlie getting her first cold... That's right... Here she was alone... No medicine for her daughter and there was no telling how dangerous it was outside the house... But Charlie needed medicine... She had to do something... Right?

Roxie had used some magic to build up her strength rather quickly though she still wasn't at full strength yet... Her wounds still shown through even under the obsidian armor she wore despite the heavy material it was surprisingly light on the soldiers... Feeling much more like leather then obsidian... In the belt around her waist were her many sheathed long-ranged weapons... An obsidian and Silver snake whip that could take any shape she chose and that could send a bolt of un controlled lightning through it to her victim chains and other objects for long-ranged non magical attacks fitted into slots in her belt and the scarring on her face only made her look that much more determined after a few heartbeats she looked at Sage "Is our trap ready?" She asked him "I know I still need to put the blood magic seal over it but is it ready?" She asked

Sage nodded at Roxie's question, his face tense. He wasn't wearing much armour...it wasn't his style. He was a quick physical combatant, and the armour added too much weight for his taste. He wore protection, enough to stop most weapons, made out of enchanted leather. He wore a chest plate and arm and leg bands to protect himself, though he was confident enough he didn't need them. But he knew it would stupid to go into a fight without anything.

"The mages will set the blood seal when you give the word. I'm going to get my own troops ready. The others are already in position." He looked at Roxie and gave her a grin. "Let's hope we don't die," he chuckled, knowing deep down it was possible but there was no way he was leaving Max and Charlie home alone. He would come back to them, he'd promised them.

He strode off, checking all the last minute things before he got onto the horse that marked him as a leader of the army. It was like Anya regular horse, except fire crackled through its fur and it's eyes glowed a bright red, the glow reflecting off if it's many razor sharp teeth. It was a spirited animal, and lept about under sage, eager to run. Sage understood the feeling ...the two days he'd been waiting he'd spent furiously training. He hadn't slept or eaten much ...he was much to nervous and excited for the battle.

He knew Roxie wasn't at full strength, so after he led the first wave straight into the fight, he'd double back a bit closer to her. He didn't doubt she could protect herself, but he wanted to be somewhere he could go wherever he was needed.

Roxie nodded "Good..." She said giving a sly grin at his comment "You'll get home to your family Sage... Don't worry." She assured him a slight purr of amusement in her voice, never in her thousands of years in the rift had a demon she knew favored a human so much... Then again they weren't suppose to get near them other then to collect their souls... The fact that Sage had a family made him seem more like a human rather then a demon sometimes but she knew the devotion to his family was what would keep him strong and alive no matter how many feet under those demons may put him he'd come back... All for his family.

After the seal was created she got in her own mount... As death the powerful hellhound Cerberus was fitting... She held onto a golden chain attached to his collar as she and her troops prepared to Charge behind Sage while she was the true leader they shared the responsibility of the troops anything Sage said they'd obey. As the battle raged Roxie came upon some interesting information... Not all the troops were here minus about 50 soldiers... Their leader sent them in a special mission though what it was... He didn't know but Roxie thanked him for the information and relayed it to Sage when she was back to back with him "I have my suspicions as to what the mission is... Do you think she can handle herself?" Roxie asked shooting a glance over at Sage of course she was referring to Max, she didn't know how good Max could fight so she had to rely on Sage's confidence in his fiancee. He was confident enough to leave her be with their daughter but now that there might be a real threat coming for them she wondered if that would shake his confidence in how well his wife would fair... Especially with so many demons after her.

Max had grown desperate to help her daughter so... She ventured out into the cool fall air with Charlie strapped to her chest the store was right around the corner... All she had to do was get there and get the medicine Charlie needed. She had also worked her very own eject/ ripcord essentially for Charlie's carrier that was strapped to her... One pull and Charlie would be released from her and a strap of the carrier would be caught by one of the guardian dragons on either side of her... They were real enough to catch Charlie but the mortals couldn't see them... Whatever happened however Charlie would be safe at least thats what she hoped for anyways.

Sage brought his own mount to a halt beside Roxie's, a thoughtful look on his face. He was worried about Max...he'd promised to protect her, but he wasn't there to do it now. What if something did happen? It seemed likely....she was strong, and could fight....and surely her powers would help...but she still wasn't a strong demon. And against 50 troops....would she be alright. "She figured out her demon powers and she can fight. She has a mother's spirit...if Charlie's in danger she'll fight until she's deadd to keep her safe." He sighed and ran his fingers through his hair. "That's what I'm afraid of," he admitted. 'she won't give in easily, but she also won't give up, no matter what if Charlie's in danger. She can fight...but she's not extraordinary at it, and she's only done one on one fighting ...never practiced with a real group to fight against."

Oh, he wished he could be there to help her and Charlie if it came to it ...but he was needed here more. If he didn't stop all of this, they'd all be killed. By being here he gave the world that chance...which was why it needed to be done.

Once they received the signal that the traps were set and everything was ready, sage met roxies gaze with his usual crooked smirk. " Let's go kill some demons," he told her before nudging his horse to the front of the lines and looking along his soldiers. He knew he should say something....tell them something encouraging. But there wasn't anything he could think of. "Let's do this," he yelled over at them before turning his horse and kicking the stallion forward, letting the black horse stretch his legs out and race across the field. His soldiers raced along behind him with a roar... apparently those few simple words had worked more than he'd expected.

The ranks clashed mid field...sage was the first one to be swallowed up by the enemy. He tore through their ranks, using his dagger in one hand and the ring, in the shape of a dagger, in the other. Roxie was still death, she kept the powers, but he also had the ability to kill these demons for good. He was a ruthless force, slicing through the general soldiers of the enemy. He knew in order to stop this, he'd have to kill their leader.

He headed for the demon in question...a large, bulky guy who seemed like a mountain to Sage. He seemed to have the same idea, as he was powering towards sage with the same furious demeanor as sage had. This would be the fight of...well, ever. They met in the middle of the Battle, swords meeting with a clang that shook the entire ground, dropping soldiers left and right.

(What if Max gets attacked and then somehow ends up seeing the fight? And she realizes a, how much of an issue this is, and b, actually how good sage is when he's at his limit and whatnot? It might be interesting lol)

Roxie nodded "I get it I do..." she said "But we're up against more demons then she is at the moment... and if shes figured out her powers as you said she'll give them a run for their money..." Roxie smirked "Don't forget what she's been through and come back from..." she reminded him "Even if she were still human I'd wadger some money on her." she smirked. "Besides... if some part of you didn't have faith in her you never would have left her despite everything." she pointed out with a smirk as she slashed an enemy demon in half.

Roxie met Sage's eyes and gave a crooked grin of her own "Agreed." she said happly moving Cerberus behind the others and following Sage's command giving a whistle and having more of thier troops flank the enemy demons on nearly all sides. Roxie was just as ruthless though because of how she attacked she was more useful saving her demons from enemy demons rather then doing much of the fighting... besides with Cerberus's three heads taring at the enemy demons there wasn't much more for her to do.

Max was hurrying to the store when she felt the world shake under her feet whatever was going on in the rift had to be getting intense. The further away from home she got the more worried she got but Charlie needed the medicine. However she stopped when she saw a demon standing in front of her, she grabbed the cord on the harness she didn't know many demons but she knew this one was so not a friend. "Hello there Maxine... Yes... we know who you are." he purred "You're Sage's little pet..." he cooed "And of course your half-bred spawn." he smirked the wolves at her side growling at the demon their teeth bared in a vicious snaral and their ears flat on their heads.

Sage sighed and nodded. "Yeah. I'm confident in her abilities, but even the best of us can fall against numbers or trickery." He trusted Max, he did, but he couldn't quench the worry about what was going to happen...he didn't know how many were going against her, or what the circumstances were. They could just incinerate the house, and everyone in it, without showing themselves. He doubted that would happen, demons tended to favor scaring before killing....but he loved her and Charlie....they were his world, and if something happened to them he didn't know what he'd do.

He used all his crazy emotions to push forward into the battle, slicing left and right. He lept around, spinning, jumping, and more, all while staying around his horse. His horse snapped and kicked too, it razor sharp teeth and hooves as deadly a weapon as his dagger. He'd picked out the most firey horse he could find, and their personalities matched perfectly. A horse many would never dream of trying to handle was Sage's perfect mount. He was more than happy with the large stallion, though he didn't want to get too attached...other horses were falling, as we're their riders, all over the battlefield. The same could happen to them as well.

He plowed through the enemy demons, time seeming to slow as he rose to meet the lead demon of the enemy. He whole earth seemed to shake when their blades crossed for the first time, and clouds rolled over the sun, a perculiar type of storm forming above the battlefield. He wasn't sure what the normal people would see....their friends would be worried, he was sure if that, especially if Max had mentioned him being enlisted or going off to war. He supposed to them it would just look like people fighting, alibet old style, but it would still look like a war and a freak storm. But whatever, he had a different job to do now...this was a skilled fighter, and a strong demon, he could tell. He kept his horse tight and close to Sage's as they circled, testing eachother out. They both seemed to prefer close combat, as well as using their heads just as much as their muscles. They paused for a moment before crossing blades again, testing eachother out but actually using multiple moves as they whirled around, blades clanging. This would be a hard fight ...a hard victory. Sage knew that. But he wasn't just fighting for him anymore, he had a whole army behind him, as well as a fiance and daughter to keep alive. To care for. Ni, he wouldn't be leaving this fight as anything but a victor. He was not going to die. He set his jaw, determined to do anything necessary in order to win this fight.

"I know... But the only way you're going to help her and Charlie is by beating these assholes..." Roxie pointed out. "Whatever she has to do so that she and Charlie survive she'll do it no matter what her humanity tells her. She's a human, demon and a mother... That's the most dangerous combination in the world that I can think of." Roxie teased trying to make light of the situation "Focus on what you can control right now... Not what you can't." She told him shoving off his back and back into the fray demon blood spraying into the air shortly afterward before she hopped back into Cerberus covered in blood as Cerberus shattered a thick skull in one of his mouths before the two of them continued fighting.

Max balled her fists as the demon smiled at her "Now now... I would have thought you'd like to see your fiancee..." He purred "Were simply here to escort you and your daughter there..." He said simply "I'm not going anywhere with you my daughter is sick..." Max spat her wolves stepping in front of her forcing the small crowd of demons apart. "Oh... Human medicine won't do anything as quick as demon medicine will..." The demon said holding up a vial "Roxie sends her regards..." He said with a smirk. That made Max turn around "Yeah... Sure like I'd let anyone including her give anything to Charlie... Much less a bunch of demons I don't know." She hissed continuing on her way the demon popping in front of her snapping his fingers making her footsteps halt in fact... Her whole body halted blinded by panic her wolves disappeared and she watched as the demon poured the liquid down Charlie's throat one drop at a time... It did make her feel better... Even Max could see that but she still didn't trust them. As soon as she was unfrozen she pulled the cord on the harness that was strapped to her one of the wolves catching Charlie and running off just as she'd meant to do long before now. A small pack followed behind taking Charlie to a secret spot in the woods only she, sage and Charlie could get to. When the wolves were gone Max fought her best her wolves attacking and killing a few demons her need to protect Charlie was overwhelming more fierce then it had ever been... It kept the wolves running and charging at the demons and it kept her up and fighting despite her injuries... The way they were fighting was odd though... Instead of attacking as a group she faced 2-3 and the others (who weren't being taken out by her wolves.) cheered... What was this some kind of fight club?! She thought as a fist connected with her jaw... She heard and felt it break in two but she kept fighting with all she had... When the demons seemed to have had their fun those that remained were quick to overwhelm her "Out leader is eager to meet you Maxine..." The first demon purred in her ear just before she blacked out.

When they arrived back in the rift she was being held limp by two demons as the world around her swirled... Her limbs felt heavy and her jaw ached fiercely along with her other injuries as she blinked trying to look out at the world that blended together before her... She saw black castle-like walls and a slew of blurred figures. When her eyes finally started to clear the first person she spotted was Sage... He was unmistakable even covered in blood and cuts... She wanted to call out to him but in the back of her head she didn't want to distract him so she just watched him... Despite her dizziness she couldn't help but be in awe of her fiancee... Watching him battle was incredible... He waded through demons like a fish through water... Now she understood what he meant when he said he had his own fighting style.

Sage was getting irritated...he was ready to start really fighting. Maybe he shouldn't be so incredibly impatient...this was another incredible fighter after all, and he was sure to have some tricks up his sleeves, just as Sage himself did. But he'd felt him out well enough, and he was more than ready to get this fight actually started....so far they'd only tested eachother out, circling at a fast pace for many, but not very fast for the two of them. It was straight battle too, no fancy tricks or fake moves. It was just to feel the opponent out.

Sage growled and sent a hard pass the way of the lead demon he was up against, and when their blades crossed it sent a kind of shock wave all across the place they were fighting in, knocking demons in both sides over as the ground shook and wind blew and pretty much everything about that freak storm picked up as they picked up.

Sage couldn't help but grin when they started to really, truly fight...spinning and dipping and whirling as master close contact fighters. Eventually, things led on to eachother and instead of fighting on horses they fought in foot. Sage was smaller and lighter, but that meant he was a tad bit faster... He'd have to use his head for this fight. He could quite easily be killed if he wasn't careful.

Then he reconsidered. He'd fight no different than usual...he was strong, stronger than whatever life threw against him, including this demon. At least, he hoped so. But he'd made up his mind....he was going back home. He'd marry Maxine, and he'd be there for his daughter as she grew up. None of that was ever going to change. He was stubborn enough to prove that to himself.

Max watched her soon-to-be husband with pride *Keep fighting babe...* She thought glancing up at her captors *I'll keep fighting too...* She thought giving a small nod. While they were distracted she kicked her captors in the knees yanking her arms away with a struggle and kicking the two of them in the stomach before she ran off winding up directly in the fray of demons. Once she realized she was in the middle of the war she was quick to summon up a large Chinese dragon painted in brilliant beautiful colors... It was solid black with brilliant galaxy coloring on it's talons and other extremities. The dragon letting out an ear-splitting roar causing the castle-like stricture to rumble a few pieces falling from the ceiling as the dragon dove in and out from the crowd like a whale breeching it sprayed demons across the room flinging them into walls before it dove back down into the crowd. Whilst she powered the dragon she did her best to fight in hand to hand combat as well... Knowing Charlie was safe in the woods with her wolves she stayed and fought to help her fiancee. "Boss! She's here!" One of the demons wheezed out as the two demons Maxine had escaped from climbed to their feet.
