Abby and Jessica rested in the tree, talking about what was happening when an ambulance drove up, horn blaring and lights flashing. "Abby! What's happening!" Jessica practically pushed Abby out of the tree when she hit her, jostling her awake. "I don't know!" Abby slid out of the tree before she actually fell. Jessica was right behind her "is it that cute guy from yesterday? Come on! I told you it was him!" Abby's eyes widened. Was it actually him? She booked it to the driveway, stopping when he paramedics came out but told her and Jessica to stay back.

Ryker let his eyes sag shut, and kept them that way without falling asleep until he heard the sirens. He then opened his eyes and pushed himself off the ground with a groan as paramedics started rushing in. Before he even knew what was happening he was whisked away to the hospital. +I hate hospitals..+ He thought before passing out. Hours later he woke up- blurry eyed- to fine he was in a hospital bed alone. Monitors were beeping, a million things were connected up to him, and it stunk like a hospital too. He groaned and tried to slide up in the bed- gasping with pain as his ribs screamed in agony. His leg was all stitched up and looked rather horrible. Everything just... hurt. Abby sat at the end of the driveway, watching the grooms bring the horses to and from the barn. She wondered if he was ok. She had seen a glimpse of his leg and gagged. One of the grooms came up and asked if she wanted to ride one of the horses before they put them up but she shook her head and watched as the groom walked away. Jessica had left and was riding her horse, Trigger. Trigger tossed his head and kicked, but Jess stuck like glue. After a while, trigger was sweating and finally behaving.

A nurse came into the room, looking at the chart before slowly looking at him. "Well, Mr. Rivera... you sustained some mighty fine injuries." She commented before putting the clipboard down. "We can't do anything about your ribs. Three broken. My advice is to not ride for a month, the doctors orders is to not ride for 3 weeks. Your leg, on the other hand... tsk tsk. I have no idea how THAT happened. Very deep wounds with something jagged, like nothing I've seen before... then again, most of my clients are city people and they don't act anything like you. So I am interested, what happened?" She asked, crossing her arms. Ryker let out a small groan at the *wasn't allowed to ride for 3 weeks* thing. That would suck. He sat through the rest of her words before mentally gathering his thoughts enough to answer. "You're right- I am nothing like a city boy." He snorted, his southern accent prominent. "I was taking a walk with my horse in the woods and made a mistake, going too close to a cave. A grizzly came running out... the poor thing was terrified. Thought it was cornered. My horse spooked and kicked me in the ribs before taking off. The grizzly gave me this beautiful leg wound. The rest of the damage was from walking out of the woods up a hill to a barn and using my brain cells that weren't dying from pain to call 911." He explained drily "Hm. We have not had a case like that before. Anyway, your leg is stitched up, the stitches will come out in about a week, then you can go home."

Abby looked around, wondering when he would be back. Jessica cantered her work out horse around the arena before cooougnhim down bareback. She had taken his saddle off and managed to pull herself on. Abby watched Jessica, wishing she could ride Fly right now

A week later his stitches were pulled out and he was released from the hospital. If he could run, he would have. Ryker limped quickly out of that wretched place, immediately wondering how he'd get home. His truck was at the stable. Upon asking where he was, he found it was just a local hospital only 5 miles from the stable. "Here goes nothing." He mumbled, starting the long limp home. Finally making it down the stable drive, Ryker was exhausted from a week of no moving straight into a 5 mile walk while your leg tells you it is gonna die and your ribs just ... hurt. The first thing he did is half limp half run to Serpant's stall, hugging his horse. "I missed you so much boy..." He whispered, while the stallion nickered and nuzzled him.

Abby wandered around the arena, trying to plan out a new pattern for Jess when she got a call. Her mother told her to drive to their house. They had a surprise for her. She immediately took off running to her car and jumped in, driving to her parents house down the road. She saw the surprise as soon as she pulled up. "A horse! " she jumped out and hugged her parents, staring at a tall dapple grey splash white Quarter Horse mare. She stood tall, her head tossing at every movement. Not long after she was loaded into a trailer and driven to the barn. Abby led the mare out. "What is her name?" Abby asked. "She has no name" her dad said. Abby smiled and led her to the quarantine stall. "Just to be safe" she murmured. The mare looked around at everything. When they passed Surpent's stall, her ears pinned and she gave a squeal, flicking her tail and trotting a few steps. Abby put her in the stall and watched her. The mare pawed at the ground, snorting a lot.

Ryker closed his eyes and tried to forget the pain and just breathe in the scent of horses. Anything but hospital. He then pulled away from Serpant as a loud whinny and hooves echoed, glancing outside the stall. "That's a beautiful mare." He commented rather quietly, deciding it was high time he found a good change of clothes and took a nice looong shower. Knowing that most likely nobody would try and talk to him- Ryker swore nobody even noticed the ambulances- he went out of the stall and down towards the cabin, every step painful.

Abby watched the dapple grey mare, trying to think up names. She didn't want anything to do with cold. In fact, she wanted the complete opposite. "Competition name... Completly Summertime. Barn name... Sun " Abby smiled at the mare. "Hello Sun" the dappled mare bucked at the stall, noticeably uncomfortable. Abby grabbed a lead rope and halter and led the mare out of the stall, leading her to the arena just to walk around. As soon as the barrel pattern came into sight, Sun reared, bucking and pulling away. "Easy girl easy" there was something about the barrels that scared her. Abby stood with Completely Summertime until she calmed down, her breathing still heavy and her ears flicking everywhere. She eventually lowered her head to graze, her body still tense.

Ryker went to the cabin and collapsed in a chair, trying not to breathe hard, pain blossoming in his ribs. After about ten minutes he stood back up and went to the bedroom, gingerly pulling off his shirt with a groan of pain and looking at his chest, which was black and blue... bruised badly. Finding new jeans he laid in the bed, staring at the ceiling with a sigh of pain. He still wouldn't get to ride Serpant for 2 whole weeks. 2 weeks of torture.
