"I'd think your age is a pretty important factor in your life." Kate chuckled, glancing at him. "Oh, I see. The strategic Lieutenant Thatcher." She said teasingly, a mocking tone. She raised her eyebrows as his tone took a turn. "I sense a difficult topic of conversation; so, do you like games?" She asked lightly, quick for a subject change

"When you get asked several times why you're so young and so high ranked, you start to black it out a little." He snickerex. He glared slightly at her teases. "I'm also s great teacher if you haven't noticed, the Jubilee hasn't flown away permanently so far." He gave her a 'beat that' look. "My dad wasn't the best father figure, its fine. I do like games, yes. What kind are you thinking of?" He asked in return. He didn't mind a subject change.

"Mm, 'So far'." Kate said playfully, glancing over at him to find the littlest of glares being sent at her. "Oh, I'm sorry, Lieutenant Thatcher. Does my teasing bother you?" She asked, a fully patronizing tone in her voice. "Understandable. Well, I was thinking of a race, but you don't seem like the fastest rider in the world, so it might not be fair." She shrugged, wearing a slightly mischievous smile.

He smiled slightly. "I think I'm more surprised than anything that you tease me, I could've sworn you were going to kill me when you opened the door." He adjusted his seat with the trot, it was hard to keep up with it. "He merely has more uscle than your horse." He said in a posh manner. "However, was that a challenge?" He grinned.

"I still might. Don't get too comfortable." Kate warned. "I'm just trying to figure you out." She huffed, teasing nonetheless. She raised her eyebrows at him. "I wasn't doubting his ability. I was doubting yours." She joked, nodding. "It was, yes." She smiled, urging Aristotle on. He took the chance eagerly, lunging forward and into a gallop. He lifted an eyebrow at her threat. "I don't have very many secrets, I doubt it'll be very hard to figure me out." He smiled, tilting his head. He face her an offended look. "My ability? Bold of you to assume I have any." He smirked, nudging Zephyr gently, letting him have his head. He was barely behind Aristotle. Zephyr was eagerly galloping, Sam was half afraid he was gonna buck kick. Because he has, and he would, because its fun. But he attempted to not let that show, he was having too much fun for it to show really.

"Everyone has secrets, but you don't need those to figure someone out." Kate shrugged, smiling at his next comment. Aristotle was a more aerodynamic horse, bred for racing, rather than a draft like Zephyr. But still, Zephyr was holding his own comparatively. It was a quick trip back to the house and Kate had to work to slow Aristotle to a trot before they turned onto the property. Even then, he was chewing and snapping his bit impatiently, half rearing until he calmed a little more. Kate gave Sam a challenging look over her shoulder. "I daresay the lobster lost to a girl." She mocked, patting Aristotle's neck.

He grinned at her, she'd figure him out faster than he would expect. He hadn't asked a word about her. He didn't need to do very much figuring out if he was just supposed to live there. He was up in his seat though the gallop, Zeph's plentiful black mane in his face. As they came to her property, he sat back, gently pulling the reins and slipping into a rocking canter. His smiled at her, letting Zephyr catch up before he slowed down. He glared. "I think Jubilee won actually." There he was, stood on a tying post near the barn. He glanced back frok the bird toward Kate, his hair was effectively mangled, drooping over his face. He hardly noticed it. Edited at November 13, 2023 09:37 PM by Prismatic Cove

"I never said I won. I just said I did better than you." Kate scoffed, trotting Aristotle up to the barm and then slowing him just before they reached the aisle. She hopped down lightly, leading him into his stall and beginning to quickly untack. "Don't you have some sort of actual job to do, Lieutenant? Besides squat on our property and race me?" She asked sarcastically, hauling her tack into the tack room easily. Edited at November 13, 2023 09:41 PM by Widow Valley Farms

He rolled his eyes, letting Zephyr walk to the barn, his ears on swivels. He slipped off the saddle(I really thought about having his foot get stuck in the saddle for a minute but I wanna save that for later), leading Zeph in the stall. Sam whistled sharply and fast, a surprisingly birdlike call. In came the falcon, it perched on the stall nearest to Sam, he peered at Kate. "I do have a job, they just assumed it'd take longer for me to find a place to stay so I get the day off." He slipped the saddle and pad off his horse's back and onto the stall door as he spoke.
