Mari sat peacefully in the room, kind of just... watching Sage. Looking for any little movement or grumble or noise from him. she just wanted to make sure he was alright, and it was taking everything in her not to just go over to him and wrap her arms around him. She had a feeling that wouldn't help anything, though. He needed a little bit of space, she knew that. She did want Silas right then, but he would be loud, and she didn't want to put Sage through that... no doubt it would make him feel awful. The child would just want his father, and she knew better than anytime that right then, the baby couldn't have him.

Sage was in a rather deep sleep for a while...he slept the rest of the day and through the night. The doctor had snuck in late at night to give him some lighter pain killers. It would dull the pain without keeping him asleep for so long...he did need to wake up at some point. He was still asleep when the doctor made his morning rounds, so he refilled the IV bag and threw in some more antibiotics to help the boy out a bit more. He made sure they were both alright, and then slid away again. Eventually though, sage started to wake up a bit.

Mari eventually fell asleep after she'd eaten... she was tired normally, but even more so now that she was pregnant. And stressed. She was actually really, really stressed out. She didn't want her husband to be in pain... she wasn't even sure how he'd managed to get an infection. It didn't sound like just a chest infection, considering when the doctor touched his abdomen he seemed to be in pain. She woke up early enough, though, early enough to be sat at Sages side when he started to stir. She reached out to take his hand, gently running her thumb over it. "Hey hun," she murmured softly to him after his eyes had opened. "How are you feeling?" She asked quietly.

Sage had really only started to stir, but when he felt Mari reach over he sort of started to wake up a bit more. He blinked his eyes open and looked over at the girl, sort of looking at her for a moment to let his brain catch up to where he was and what exactly was happening as of right then. "better," he murmured softly with a slight shrug. "Still tired," he said with a yawn. He did feel a bit better....not so run down, and not so sore, though he was probably pumped full of medicine for that. But his chest definitely didn't feel as tight, and while his lungs were definitely heavy with stuff, he felt like he was breathing a bit easier than when they'd first got to the office. Then again, getting here was much more work than just laying in bed.

Mari gave a soft nod and smiled gently to the boy. "Good," she stated quietly before sighing. It was good, too... for some reason, she was just so, so worried about him. Always. She knew why, because so much as breathing in a fly could set him off down the wrong road. But he was alright... he was feeling alright, at least. She smiled to him after a little bit, though. "The doctor has pumped you full of medicine anyway. So you should be feeling better," she told him gently. She pecked his hand after a moment or two. "Silas is coming along later. I have a feeling he's gonna be happy to see you," she told him happily.

Sage hummed lightly and then chuckled and nodded when she mentioned that the doctor had pumped him up with medicine already. He chuckled slightly, rather amused. "I figured as much," he admitted with a slight grin forming on his face. The smile grew when she mentioned Silas stopping by, and he nodded happily. "I'll be glad to see if too," he mused lightly. Then he cocked his head. "I had wondered who'd be taking care of him...I take it the old man knocked me out for a good while," he added on. He wanted to make sure his baby boy was safe and taken care of while they were away.

Mari chuckled lightly to him after a moment or two. "Well, Sage, you're smiling so I take it that's a good thing," she mused gently to him. It was nice, though... she liked having him smiling as though he was happy, even if he wasn't so comfortable. "My mother has him. She'll be along later, I think," she told him with a small smile. "He only ever wants you so I'm sure he'll be happy to see you," she chuckled lightly to the boy. "The doctor is going to come and see you first, though," she told him gently. "Be ready, I don't think you're gonna enjoy the yourself," she warned with a slightly wrinkled nose.

He hummed lightly and shrugged. "Well, I'm going to say that the fact that I have large amounts of medicine in my system helps things," he noted in a slightly amused manner. When she mentioned that her mother was caring for the baby, he nodded, glad that she was the one who had grabbed him. "You didn't go walking around did you," he asked, frowning slightly. He didn't want her to stress herself trying to care for Silas, especially while he was just laying there asleep. "Oh please, he's always happy to see you too," he snorted, then cocked his head in a rather curious but also slightly heasitant manner. "What exactly is the old man going to make me do," he asked. "Make you feel better," the doctor chirped as he entered the room. The boy was obviously awake enough to handle coughing, and they may as well get it done while he was up. He shoved a small cup full of a really quite foul smelling, even foul looking drink under his nose. "Drink up," he instructed the boy with a grin when he noticed him immedietaly wrinkle his nose and hold the cup away from his face. "That looks like you're trying to poison me," he joked, not really wanting to drink it...It looked awful.

Mari smiled happily to him after a moment or two before shaking her head. "No, don't worry about me too much. I can still walk and everything," she promised the boy happily. "But a guard was sent to her," she added gently. She then rolled her eyes. "He's always happy to see me, but you have to admit it, he is a daddy's boy," she mused lightly. She was about to answer the question when the old man came it, a slight chuckle escaping her at the comment... she was going to put it in a way that would make him less nervous, but she just supposed shoving the medicine in his face was another way to go about it. She then smiled at his comment. "Well, that kind of is the just of it", she mused. "It's gonna make you cough. So all that gunk in your lungs can come out. You will feel better, promise," she added gently.

Sage sort of just wrinkled his nose at the girl's comment and squinted into the cup, swirling it around a little bit. "So I put gunk in my stomach to get it out of my lungs," he noted. "Wonderful." The doctor sort of just chuckled and leaned against the bed. "well the longer you think about it, the worse it's gonna seem," he said with an eyes roll. "so drink up," he chirped. Sage groaned and huffed out a slight breath, grumbling something under his breath about doctors and old men before drinking the liquid in one gulp before chuckling the cup at the doctor. "Good God that's nasty," he scolded the doctor slightly before his lungs constricted and he started hacking up his guts again. At least this time got everything out of him, he supposed. Though, by the time he'd coughed everything up and then upchucked the drink he was wheezing like he'd just run a marathon. His chest aches from so much activity, but he did feel better.
