The Old Gods
I always liked doing hair. It was easy to get into a rhythm with music
The Undercity
It seems like you can get more detail with it rather than trying to fight with colors to get the right shade
KPH Equestrian
I use a skin/pore texture brush for roan lmao. And cloud brushes for most other pattern edges
Jericho Stables
Also changing a horse body to greyscale makes it super easy to recolor. The horse I used in Endeavor's picture was originally a dark bay, now he's a chestnut.

I can't lie, hair was why I always hated doing art. That would've been a good hack to know lmao
The Undercity
Thank you both <3 It does seem easier so I might test it out on KPHs piece
Jericho Stables
It may because I also have experience with coloring greyscale. With that being the art style preference on HEE for ages. So I did that for yeearrsss.
KPH Equestrian
Eugh just coughed up literally mud. No wonder it felt like there was something stuck in my throat. There was. It was mud. ;-;
Jericho Stables
I only do greyscale. It is so much easier to just use shades of black/white than trying to pick out each individual color gradient
KPH Equestrian
Dory If i may provide an answer as well, I ONLY do hair in greyscale loll. Its way easier on my smooth brain :P
The Undercity
Do you find it easier to do your hair in greyscale rather than the color of the horses mane you are doing art for? because I have never seen someone do it like that before
