Adele went silent, looking at him. Then she let out a laugh. "Yeah, like we can just do that." She scoffed a little, but tried not to make him feel bad.

Caelan got a ring out of his pocket that his mother had left him. "Adelaide Cleo Navvara, would you do me the honor of being my wife? I love you more than my own life and kingdom, I'd do anything you asked me to. It doesn't have to be in the next year or even more...but I want you forever. Please." He said softly

Adele stopped breathing when she saw him take out the ring from his pocket. Her heart skipped a beat, or maybe two. She wanted to say yes. She really did. But they couldn't. Their kingdoms were sworn enemies. "Caelan..." she said, voice breaking. "Oh, Caelan, we can't. Our kingdoms hate each other and who knows what might happen if..." She trailed off.
| |

"Nobody rules a kingdom like you could. My subjects will listen to me. I swear both our kingdoms will be safe, darling"
| |

Adele felt a tear slip onto her cheek, and closed her eyes. "We can't... They'll... It's..." She let out a sob, wrapping her arms around her middle. "Caelan, I'm so scared... I can't lose you..."
| |

Caelan held her. "You won't ever, ever lose me, darling." He said softly. "If you were to die, I would follow as soon as I can. I'll hold onto life as long as I can while you're alive."
| |

That just made Adele cry harder, because she knew it was true. She held on to him, and eventually her tears slowed, and finally subsided. She took a deep breath, and said, "Okay. Okay, Caelan. Yes, I'll marry you." Still held in his arms, she looked up into his eyes and kissed him, filled with hope, love, and joy.
| |

"Oh, thank you, baby" He said, kissing her deeply and holding her close
| |

Adele deepened the kiss again and held it for a few more moments, before pulling away slowly. She kept her face close to his, smiling at Caelan. "I love you so much," she murmured, looking into his eyes.
| |

"I love you too, darling" He murmured, slipping the ring on her hand and it fitting perfectly
