Kennedy fluttered his gaze across the room at the all the people, when he finally laid eyes on Mercy. His heart fluttered as he saw her for the first time in what felt like a year, he examined every inch of her loving the way her dress complimented the makeup, and how her hair framed her face perfectly. Kennedy then moved his gaze over to Xander, seeing the arm wrapped around her waist made him clench his jaw as a visible tick appeared on his face. After that Kennedy couldn't bare to see it anymore so he excused himself and got up, walking out of the banquet hall and to the garden. He only had something basic on since he didn't have the money for anything fancy, it was dark grey slacks, with a white button up that the top two weren't buttoned, a loose dark grey tie around his neck, and black dress shoes. It had been around an hour of pointless royal chatter, and Mercy had been doing her best to keep up, staying the perfect, charming princess she always was at these things. "Excuse me, I'll be back." She said, giving the group a light smile and walking swiftly across the floor. Her first stop was to a mirror out in the hall. She looked at herself and gently repositioned the twinkling silver and diamond tiara on her head. She sighed and made her way out into the garden. She knew the announcment would be made quite soon, or at least, Xander's proposal, which she would have to accept, and so she decided to make her visit quick. As she walked quietly through the garden, she saw a few couples milling about. She observed them quietly as she passed, until she saw a single, familiar man. She sighed and cast her gaze down, trying to pass by him unnoticed.

Kennedy had found himself in a favorite part of the garden, it was a giant apple tree that was surronded by rose bushes. He had his gaze up looking at the lights that had been put up in it making the tree more beautiful than usual. As he stared up at the tree her had a small smile on his face, suddenly he snapped out of his gaze hearing footsteps. He looked behind him seeing a familiar girl walking by with her head down, he turned his head back forward towards the tree just going to let her passby. As she did he gave her one last glance before implusively calling out to her "Hey Mercy... He called out while walking over to meet with her "I just wanted to let you know that you look very gorgeous tonight..." He said quietly while rubbing the back of his neck

Mercy stopped, wincing slightly as he called her name. She bit her lip, looking up at him. "Thank you. You look quite handsome as well." She nodded, blushing a light red and looking anywhere but his eyes, watching him rub the back of his neck quietly.

Kennedy noticed her light blush and smiled slightly "Of course.. Thank you as well.." He stood and watched her for a few moments wanting to pull her in for a hug but didn't. He brought his hand back down and pushed it in his pocket "Well I'll let you go.. Hope you enjoy the rest of your evening Princess" He said softly, giving her a small bow then turned to walk off but right before he was out of earshot of her, he stopped and turned looking at her "Oh and... I'm sorry.." He finally spoke as a tear rolled down his face and he continued walking again

"I'll do my best." Mercy said softly. She stood quietly for a moment, fighting herself not to cry. She turned around at his words. "Don't go." She called softly after him, hurrying to his side and grabbing his hand, reaching up to brush his tear away, otherwise keeping her distance. "And don't cry, please don't cry. Don't be sorry. I- I-" she looked up at him quietly, unable to find the words.

Kennedy stopped in his tracks hearing her soft call, he kept his gaze down as he fought off more tears from rolling down. As she grabbed his hand he finally looked over at he, he tilited his head the tiniest bit into her hand as she spoke. "It's hard not too... I hurt you that morning and I lost you sooner than I wanted too" He explained with a shakey voice

"I hurt you too. It's okay. I promise, it's okay. You'll never lose me, I'll just... be misplaced for a while. Come here." She cooed, gently pulling his head down to lay on her shoulder, stroking the back of his head gently.

He visibly wilted at her words, to him it wasn't okay but hearing her say that meant a lot to him. He willingly let her pull his head down onto her shoulder where he let out a few quiet sobs before not ebing able to hold back anyore and pulled her into a hug

She closed her eyes and wrapped her other arm around him to rub his back, continuing to stroke his hair gently. She leaned into his arms, tears welling in her eyes that she refused to let spill. "I can't do this, Kennedy. I can't stay away from you." She said quietly, laying a kiss on his head.
