"I HAVE A FAMILY!" The admiral's words rang in my mind as I walked out, eyes wide, hands stained a color they shouldn't be. I was seeing things. I pushed the door to my room open, slipping it shut behind me before walking to the bathroom, scrubbing my hands bloody to try and get them to be the color of skin again. When did it end. When did it end? When did it end?!
It was everywhere. Covering every surface. My hands, splattered on my armor, on the sink's countertop. Blood. Everywhere. When did it go away?
He had a family. He had a family. I have a family. I protect my family. He died protecting his. A part of me died leaving his family unprotected, and vulnerable. |

Kayla headed back to the room and saw Gale. She set Malakai down next to his toys and went to Gale. "Hey, look at me" |

"I'm sorry---h-he had a family, now his family doesn't have a father," I managed, still scrubbing at my hands just for the blood to appear again. "When does it fucking stop?!" |

"It was everywhere, every inch was covered in it, every inch still is." I muttered under my breath, pure panic still in my eyes. |
