Adele bit her lip. "It's just... I don't understand why everything has to be so hard! First your mother's evil plans, then the battle, and my parents..." She forced herself to keep going. "And now the kingdoms don't trust each other and you're sick! I just can't..." She trailed off, then finished strong. "I don't think I can keep living like this!"

Adele's panic rose with her voice. "But it's not okay right now! And I'm here, right now, and the bad things are all I can think about!" She knew she needed to stay positive, but it impossible.

He took her hands, kissing each knuckle with the strength he had before letting his head drop to the pillow. "I'm here, baby. Come here"

Adele obeyed, lying down next to Caelan and burying her head in his shoulder.

He couldn't talk anymore, too tired, so he just rested a hand on her back and kissed her head

(Wanna do a time skip?) Adele whimpered into him, accepting his embrace, and comforted by his touch. She was too burdened to sleep, but was glad she could escape from the emptiness of the room in his arms.

The next afternoon, Adele was summoned back to the palace. It hurt to leave Caelan, especially when he was still recovering, but she was needed back at home. The nurses promised they would take care of him, and said he was on the mend, though it might be a long recovery process. Adele kissed Caelan's cheek and waved goodbye, making her way out of the night kingdom castle.
