Auni's mouth almost dropped but then she remebered that he lived in France and so he could go to a Michelin star resturant whenever he wanted.

"I've followed the chef there for a long time he does excellent work," she commented and then pondered his comment she is coming to the conclusion that his family was very different than hers. "Well you will have to get used to southern style cooking we love our cornbread, pies, and cookouts," she said to him as she finished her plate and got up to grab the pie and bring it to the table.

"This is a family favorite and has been passed down for 3 generations," her grandma said with a giddy smile and she grabbed a serving knife and put a piece on everyones plate.

"This will be your good luck for tomorrow the first day is always slow and brutal," Auni said not trying to scare him but shes already been dreading going back. She sat down and dug into her pie even though her grandma had made it she knows the recipe by heart.

"Final rating of tonights dinner and dessert?" she asked and looked at Theo to see what his thoughts were.

Auni smiled as if her job was done. She helped clean up the table and then hugged her grandparents as they said goodbye. They got back into the car and went home. Her parents took care of Sadie who was eager to see them.
"be ready bright and early, tomorrow morning," she said to him and then went upstairs to get ready for bed. She probably should've let him go first as he's a guest but she wanted to get comfy and have some down time.

Auni’s alarm went off and she got up. She had put on a pair of jean shorts that weren’t too short and a tank top with a floppy blue and white striped shirt over top. She put a baseball hat on and her sneakers. Sadie got up and followed her downstairs and she put her food in her bowl. She was surprised to see Theo up in time.

“I wasn’t expecting you to be ready yet,” she mentioned as she grabbed some grapes and a yogurt from the fridge. She ate them quickly and then grabbed her brown backpack and her keys. She petted Sadie and then went out the door to her car. It wasn’t anything fancy it was an old jeep wrangler.

“I always park in lot B it’s closest to the door and it’s the easiest to get out of,” she had told him so he knew where to meet after school is over. She cracked her window slightly and her radio automatically came in and it played Summertime Sadness by Lana Del Ray.

The drive isn’t very long luckily the school is only about 10-15 minutes away. Auni was relatively quiet but softly hummed to the song as she pulled into the high school. It was a smaller scale brick building with blue and white. “Welcome to Coastal Heights,” she said as she parked her car in space 32.

She got out and grabbed her backpack as kids were walking through the doors.

“So we have homeroom together I’ll give you a brief rundown and then good luck,” she said as she wasn’t super excited for the first day. Out of the corner of her eye she saw Kelsey and Layla and waved to her as they walked in. “The other blonde with shorter hair is Layla Kelsey’s sister,” she commented . “If you need one piece of advice…don’t make friends with Austin Grove,” she hesitated before deciding to briefly explain. Auni had a crush on Austin for a long time but he never really had any interest and after her and Ben broke up In Sophomore year they started talking. They went out a few times but then Austin ended it after Auni told him her feelings and said he only talked to her because it was a bet that he can get any girl to like him and that she was boring and no one would go out with her anyway.

“He runs with a rowdy crowd and he’s an ass…he thinks anyone and everyone will fall in love with him, he is the one person who is never allowed over,” she said with a hint of bitterness. They went down the hallway.

“Homeroom is straight on the right, down this hall is Mr.Lidals class room, and then I think most of everything else you’re taking is upstairs.” She said as she dropped her stuff off at her locker.

“You’re is right across from mine your code should be on your schedule,” she told him as she put her code in and her locker was lightly decorated with a seashell magnet, a picture of her and her grandparents, and a picture of her riding Rosie.

Then she grabbed what she needed and went to Mr.Phautz room “take a seat wherever he doesn’t make assigned one’s,” she said as she walked away and sat down on the right near the window. Her friend Paige was right behind her.

Auni probably should've sat next to Theo but she didn't really want to babysit him the whole day the whole point was for him to be able to make new friends. She chatted with Paige for a little bit and then the announcements started and Auni just doodled on her notebook edges. She glanced over at Theo and then the bell rang she got up and waited for him. "I pointed out Mr.Lidals room this morning so you should be good if you get lost use your map or just ask someone I think Kelsey is in a few of your classes she can help you," she said to him and then paused.

"I'll see you at lunch but umm... I can introduce you to some of the hockey team, so you can sit with them instead of me. I just don't really wanna draw a lot of attention, rumors spread like wildfire here," she mentioned to him and headed out the door and she walked with him.

"My class is upstairs but good luck," she said attempting to be nicer. She isn't much of a morning person.

Auni was unamused by her classes today and when it was finally lunch time she was relieved to see Theo sitting with the hockey team. She gave me an approving nod and since she packed her lunch she sat down next to Paige and then Kelsey and Layla came over.

"I see Theo is fitting right in," Layla mentioned as she was pretty close with Jacob and she spotted Theo next to him.

"Yeah I didn't know he liked hockey...You should come with us to watch sometime!" Kelsey exclaimed.

Auni froze hockey wasn't really her thing she would watch football and tolerate basketball but hockey was...cold.

"Ehhh, I don't know, I don't really even know how hockey is played," She admitted

"Just because hockey players are your type doesn't mean they are mine," she joked as she could tell Kelsey was practically drooling over Theo.

"Oh Come on, you will never fully know for sure unless you try one," she joked.

"Fine, I will go see ONE game," she said as she took a bite of her food.

"I am pretty sure the first game is next Monday its a home game too," Paige said to them as she was on student council and she knew all of the teams schedules.

"Is Theo single, do you think you could ask?" Kelsey asked and surprisingly that statement kind of hurt Auni's feelings but it has no right too because she doesn't even really know him.

"He's single, my mom already asked him for you, you know her and her intrusiveness. Kinda seems like he might have dated a lot of girls though but that's just me and my trust issues," Auni said telling her the truth.

"Thats okay, Grayson has basically dated the whole school so has Austin," She stated and unfortunately she wasn't wrong. Grayson Atwood the schools darling star QB he's definitely going to be a D1 kid. Then Austive Groves the star Center for Basketball don't let either of their charm fool you. At least Grayson is kind of funny.

Auni watched as Kelsey ripped a piece of her napkin and took a pen out and scripple on it then got up.

"What are you doing?" she asked with a concerned look unsure of what her motive was.

"Trying to score a date to prom," she said as she walked over to the hockey table and handed Theo the paper.

"Here this is for you, I thought it might help having another friend here in case you need to study or something," She said as the napkin had all of her social medias and a number on it and then she walked away to go back to her table.

"He can read english right?" she asked and Auni shook her head...

"I guess you'll find out," she said to her and finished her lunch with a few moments to spare before the bell rang. As much as she loved Kelsey she was kind of a typical "dumb" blonde sometimes. She was just a boy crazy teenager who wanted to be popular. Auni is much closer with Paige and Layla as they are little more introverted like her.
