The stallion's audits pinned slightly as Noda started going off. They were not pinned in anger, but rather worry and sadness. "You have NO IDEA what you did to me. How can you feel bad?" He asked, his brown orbs widening slightly as she continued, growing hopeless and angry and everything. It was rather overwhelming how she just exploded, but he ducked his cranium and waited it out. At the very end, his gaze flitted to her, softer than before. Words that he didn't understand came out, but they were clear as day. "I don't want you to leave." Riptide stated quietly, holding her gaze for a second. His words were the most truthful thing he'd said this whole time, and totally out of the blue, for him. He then glanced down and continued, feeling the need to explain, and to try and make her believe it. "You did hurt me, I cannot deny that, but it would be childish of me to hang onto it and would be childish of you to keep regretting it. I did hang onto it, for quite some time, but you've made me realize there's no reason to. I don't hate you. I can never hate you. I care how you feel because you are a horse, like all these other mares, and you have feelings that matter. I care about you because you were part of my herd. I care about you because you used to be the center of my life, and that'll never completely change, Noda. It doesn't matter what you did anymore. It matters what you do now. You have been kind, and smart, helpful, and resourceful. That's someone who I'd want to be near. YOU'RE someone I want to be around. No one needs to tell you memories, and no one needs to tell you who you are. You are who you are, no matter what you remember. You can make your own future- stop worrying about the past. The only reason we have memories is to learn from our mistakes and love our accomplishments. You need to find a new life, where you have a horse who loves you, a herd to care for you, and a place to make NEW memories that you CAN love. You're not hopeless at all. You are missing the beauty in this. You are an empty slate. Your mistakes are nothing but a mist in the wind, blown away. You can write your own story now. If you want to leave, if you think that is the best for you, then you should do that- I want the best for you. It doesn't matter what I think, anymore. You can decide to leave, or you can decide to stay, it's your decision. Everything you do now is your decision." Ripp let his voice idle into silence, his dark orbs again looking at hers. He had needed to get it out. Needed to say something. He knew she was still special to him, and would always be, so the part of him that didn't want her to stay quickly faded away. Now that the words were out, he was absolutely terrified about how she was going to take it.

“A clean slate?” She laughed at the thought. “You have no idea what it’s like. Yeah, I don’t remember what horrible things I did to you, but I see it in your face nearly every time you look at me. The hesitation in your words and actions SCREAM what your mouth fails to say.” She hissed, her tears brimming, on the very edge of falling. “But you know what else? How about the good things? Those are gone, too. Hell, I can’t even remember my own mother! Let alone you, that stupid stallion, or anyone else that was a part of my life. When I’m alone, I can’t reminisce on ‘good ole times,’ to lift my spirits or remind myself that things get better. Because I have no idea how they’re going to turn out because I have no experiences. No triumphs, no home, no happiness. I’m just the shell of a horse I used to be.” Her words dropped off, nearly to a whisper as she spoke her last sentence. A tear rolled down her cheek, but she didn’t hide it, nor bring attention to it. She was too caught up in her rant, having taken a breath, she inhaled for her second wind. “Don’t you see? I can NEVER have a clean slate so long as I’m around you and horses from my past just keep popping up. And there doesn’t seem to be a way to avoid that, obviously.” She rolled her orbs just mentioning that stupid pale stud. “There will always be little comparisons, even if they’re never said out loud … not to mention the reoccurring horrific nightmare that reminds me of whatever happened the night my entire life was taken from me. I’m so scared to close my eyes because I’m convinced that one day, it’s going to be real, all over again.” ‘It’s astounding that I haven’t already died of exhaustion!” She thought to herself. “I don’t have answers, I don’t know what the best choice is. I don’t know what to do.” She was spiraling, completely losing touch with her reality as her mind’s most terrible thoughts she had suppressed for so long came flooding to the forefront, and unfortunately, also on her tongue. Many of those thoughts she had never dared to speak out loud and especially never to Riptide. It was only in hindsight, did she really understand how her last words were hurtful. "I'm sorry, I think my lack of sleep is getting to me. I need to rest." She admitted, sighing deeply. Her orbs trailed over to the willow, but she feared being alone as that always seemed to be the time she found trouble with a particular equine.

Riptide's orbs widened slightly as Noda.. exploded. The rants that came next were, well, expected, from a horse so drowned in her own misery, but they hurt him as well. He hated seeing her like this, and he hated every hopeless word she said. There was nothing he could say to justify, to help her. There was no one phrase he could utter to help her. That, alone, made him hopeless as well. It made him feel like his heart was being slowly crushed. "No.. I don't know what it's like. I'm sorry .. sorry for everything..." He whispered, his audits laying back as she continued, pointed out every horrible thing he feared she was thinking about. The despair in her voice as she said she couldn't remember her mother, the look on her face. He knew these were things she had been thinking about nonstop, that have been burdening her as long as she had been awake. Every word seemed to stab at his heart as much as it burdened her, and every phrase brought shame to his face. As she started talking about the nightmares, his audits laid back even more, and he seemed to shrink back slightly. He knew, he realized, there was NOTHING he could say that could ever help her enough. Or at all. As she finally fell silent, then apologized, he said nothing for a second. "I... y-yeah... you can... you should rest... I'm... -I- I'm sorry..." He mumbled lowly, turning around and walking off with his head low, pain throbbing in his mind. Ripp didn't know how to deal with this or help her. He just wanted to be alone, to get away from all of this. He wanted to burn his former life and start fresh. Noda could, but she didn't want to. He couldn't, but he wanted to. A cruel twist of Fate.

I may woken up this morning and chose violence XD But I'm so ready for some adventure!) . As Riptide turned away from her, that's when she really broke. Noda trotted off towards the willow, seeking any form of comfort she could, from anyone (or thing). She peered up into the branches of the willow, the sun shining through the different colors of green and it only made the tears fall faster. "Where are you?" She snorted aloud. Her ears pinned slightly, showing the frustration she was feeling, but she kept searching for the dark figure she was desperate for. Having been out in the sun for so long, the Marigolds she had put on her wounds earlier in the morning were dried out and beginning to flake off as they once had, but Noda was so fixated on her task at hand, she hadly noticed the pain, even as some wounds opened under the pressure of her swift movements. "I know you're here! Come out, now. I need you." She gritted her teeth and held back the sobs threatening in the back of her throat. This was fruitless, she knew that. Her dam was not a spirit she could summon at will, though right now more than ever, she wished that were possible. . "Who are you yelling at?" A familiar, dainty voice pulled Noda from her shattering thoughts and made her blood run cold. Her eyes landed on the rich, blemish free appearance of the mare and she let out a defeated sigh. "No one, Minnah." Was all she could muster. "So, talking to ... trees?" The mare chuckled, not even trying to hide it. "I think all this excitement has really gone to you head!" Her grin, though soft, held a poisonious resemblance as her orbs stared menacingly at Noda. "I am fine, Minnah. You can return to the herd without worry." Noda simply stated, refusing to look the mare straight on. She wouldn't give her the satisfaction of the taunting she no doubt was looking for. "I'm sorry if I made you feel some type of way, Nora, it was never my intention." Minnah paused, trying to strike a nerve in any way with the mare, however, Noda didn't care what she called her. It would never make her feel as bad as she already did. A frown tugged on the dark mare's face when her efforts seemed to be in vain, but there was still one string she wished to pull. "Listen, our stallion is a special one indeed. He's charming and gentle, which is a rarity these days ..." Minnah began and for whatever reason, Noda couldn't help but tip an audit at her mentions of Riptide. "but he isn't a jealous type so your theatrics are a waste of time." Noda snapped her head around at the mare's salty words and she was met with a smile ... just as Minnah wanted. "Do you really think that all of this is for a stud?" Noda exclaimed, her muzzle wrinkling into a snarl. "Well, I must admit, using the unplanned arrival of the palomino was quite resourceful. It definitely had Riptide for a moment, but as you can see," She gestured to the lack of his presence. "He isn't going to follow you around. If you want the other stallion, he will let you go and I will make sure he doesn't dwell on it too long." A smirk rested on her muzzle as she arched a brow at Noda. 'Your turn', is what she appeared to say. "I don't have these feelings you're implying that I do for Riptide." She pinned her audits, tossing her head threateningly. She was lying. Of course she was! All Riptide had been trying to do over these last couple of days was try to help her. After she was able to feel less scared and more comfortable in his presence, that intention was very obvious to her. They had a past together, so of course she left some kind of draw towards him, but her fearful nature never allowed her to pursue it. Now that this mare was very loudly staking her claim on him, she wondered if she ever would. "Why do you feel so threatened by me, Minnah?" Noda asked. "If you're relationship with him is SOOO great, why would he even give me the time of day?" Noda mirrored her smirk and her efforts were clear to see to be working as the dark mare practically had smoke coming from her ears. "Riptide doesn't care about you. You're just part of his duties as a leader. He HAS to look after you to make sure you don't go off and end yourself on his land. Even the predators around here wouldn't sniff such desperation." Noda shook her head. "And I'M the pathetic one." She smirked once more. . The liver mare seemed to really seemed to be losing her patience with Noda's refusal to roll over and take the verbal beating she wished to give her. She stepped forward, giving her best threatening stance, but Noda couldn't help but chuckle. "I know your herd may fear the words you speak Minnah, but there is a clear difference in them and I .." Noda paused, allowing the other mare to think for a moment. "I don't have a thing to lose." She snorted and watched the other mare grow in frustration. She popped forward on her front end with a squeal. Noda returned the guesture with a snort, throwing her head and striking the ground, offering a glare. Did she really want to do this? A brief scuffle broke out between the two mares, but untimately, Minnah went trotting for the hills. Little did Noda know at the time, she had simply given the mare what she wanted. With minor abrasions from the mare's small, but jagged hooves, Noda retreated to the lake, walking in deep enough to cover her body and feel the first bit of relief she had felt all morning. She contemplated her next moves. Her explosion had no doubt caused a riff between her and the stallion, unsure if there was a way to recover from that. She did feel bad for her outbursts, but she felt as though he just didn't understand. He could only see the "good" in her amnesia, not all that she had lost. All the ways it was killing her. She peered over at the tree once more, sighing deeply. I need to go home. The thought made her hurt a little less and that's when she decided. She would stop causing pain to those around her here, especially the stallion, and she would go back towards her natal herd and find her mother, the one thing that seemed to calm her. With the thought, Noda brought herself from the water and shook her brightly red coat before taking in her sense of direction and starting towards the meadow she knew of that grew marigolds - but not before she took a few more pieces of the willow bark with her first. . Minnah released a returning cry as she rejoined the herd. The other mares joined her, all wearing the same confused and worried expressions as the next. Minnah played her part extremely well, being sure to explain how she was attacked unprovoked by the red stranger in their midsts. Showing off her wounds from her "attack" across the side of her neck. The wounds wasn't deep at all, barely bleeding, but she didn't need severity, she just needed "evidence." The mares under her charge believed her without a shred of doubt, however, Riptide would be the one she truly needed to convince. She was determined to make sure that any chance the red mare had with him was gone.

(Yeesh, poor Noda XD! How is Riptide ever supposed to get her back now lol- or WAIT- I have a different idea Also i apologize for my post being fathoms shorter than yours lol) - The grey stallion stopped a ways away, standing there and staring at the ground, trying to figure things out. Nothing seemed right anymore. He was 98 percent certain Noda was going to leave, and even thinking the thought, pain stabbed at his stomach. He didn't want her to leave. He REALLY didn't want her to leave. However, all he had done was push her away, apparently. He needed to completely forgive her before he could ever try to go back. Any negative thought that had ever passed through his mind, he pulled to the front, and mentally imagined burning them. It was actually quite entertaining, which just reminded him how insane he was. He then thought about Noda, and he knew for sure... all that was left was the stuff he believed. The good things. Now, that wasn't enough. When there was a problem, it was always with him, so what else had been doing wrong? He could think of a few things, but gaining clues from her words.. he guessed it was about HIS words. He kept saying she should find the good in her amnesia... but she didn't want to. Maybe he had to just be there for her, and try to understand how horrible it must be, forgetting everything and everyone you love. Thinking about it from this angle made his heart ache. He would never want to truly forget EVERYTHING. He would never want to forget his mother, or his herd. His friends. The fun Times he had frolicking in the fields. Everything he had learned. He didn't want to forget all that, and thinking about it now? He felt like he understood, as much as he could, anyway, how terrifying that must be. He had said she could make a new her, but she didn't know who she WAS. That sounded terrible. His audits pinned as he thought about it. Now, he needed to go see if this was enough, if Noda wasn't too broken yet. He wanted to help her, but he didn't know how, and she didn't want help. He could be there for her, though, even if that meant never seeing her again. This was just one more vain, desperate attempt to make her stay. Ripp turned around and trotted quickly back, straight towards the Willow tree, not even glancing at the herd. He went a little past that as he saw her red pelt already disappearing. Hesitating for a second, he wondered if he should just let her leave. A stab in his chest said he couldn't. He trotted after her. "Noda?" Ripp asked quietly, slowing. "I know you're going to leave, and I know there's probably nothing I can say to get you to change your mind... I just wanted to say that I'm sorry for not trying to understand. I just kept trying to change what you thought and I now get how that hurt. I can never know how much pain you're in, but I can try, and it makes me more aware of how horrible it really must be. I don't care about the past anymore, either. It doesn't matter what you did to me. I hope you find your mother. Good luck." He stated quietly, every word truthful, and there was no resentment in his gaze... that quickly flitted to her pelt and widened slightly. "What happened? Why do you have hoofmarks on you?" He asked out of pure concern, his audits swiveling slightly as his orbs flitted back to her face.

Most of my post was dialogue, so no need! XD ) . Noda begn to walk into the meadow, quickly finding the yellow flowers she seeked on the far end. She closed her orbs and breathed in deeply, allowing the sweet scent of the junipers and wildflowers to overtake her senses. The more distance she put between herself and the herd, the better she felt about her decision to leave ... though, the thought of leaving the stallion still pained her a great deal. But if she cared for him, truly at all, she'd let him go and continue his life as though she had never been apart of it. To let him have peace in his life and build his family with the herd he had created ... it almost sounded perfect, though Noda had to remind herself that she was no longer a part of it. She forced her mind to return to the task at hand as she continued to make her way across the field of color. It was soon as she reached the flowers, she began to hear hoof beats. Her body shuddered for a brief second, believing it to be none other than the stalker she'd come to nearly hate at this point. Of course he would still be around, probably having followed her from the time Riptide had chased him off. She would guess he would have stuck around long enough to hear the conversation between she had Riptide and then with Minnah short to follow. The though made her go numb for a moment. But for a brief moment, she thought of him ... useful? Perhaps he could take her to their birth herd if she was to never see Riptide again - another painful hit to the gut - all she wanted was to go home and he would be her only way to find it. But that plan was deadly. Convincing him to take her would be the easy part, it would be the life on the road there that would be dangerous. There was no doubt that he was interested in continuing their past relationship, but Noda had no such interest and playing along with the emotions of such a stallion could be fatal, even if she did make it to her herd. What would happen if he discovered her act? What if her mother wasn't even still with her birth herd? What on earth would she do with that dreadful stallion then? . Thankfully, it was not Rock's form that came into view as the equine broke through the trees. Noda was instantly relieved, but only for a second. What was he doing here? Noda corrected her posture and turned to face Ripp. "What ar-" She was cut off by his words, forcing her audits forward, clinging onto every word he spoke. Her look of concern slowly turned into one of slight saddness as she realized he was asking her to stay without saying the words. She almost hoped that he wouldn't because if he did - if he gave her the slightest hope, there was no way she could keep going. In his presence, nothing she had previously thought continued to make sense as she stared into his umber orbs, her own glinting in just the smallest amount of hope. But this feeling too, was washed away as he drew attention to her newest assortment of abrasions. Self conciously, she stepped back on that front hoof, shielding the wound from further being seen. "Nothing," she finally found her words. "It's just a couple of scratches, I don't even know from what ... Probably just some branches that scraped me as I squeezed by the foliage to get here." She offered a simple explanation, not daring to even think about telling the truth. If she was really leaving, there was absolutely no way she would cause strife between the stallion and his herd. She couldn't leave chaos in her midsts. "Please, I'm fine, I-" She began fumbling over her words, getting lost in his concerning gaze. It made her gulp, she felt so guilty lying to him. "Please," She continued to plead, stepping just the slightest bit closer to him. "forget about it. I'm fine; it's alright." She nearly whispered, trying to calm him of his worry. "I have to find find my dam, some way. I can't stay without her." She simply stated, hoping he wouldn't ask her to stay, knowing that she would falter on her insistance to keep going. She almost asked him to come with her so they could avoid a goodbye, but she knew he had responsibilites, and she could never ask him to leave or choose. She couldn't live with that, so instead she stood in silence, once again, allowing her timid gaze to fall to the ground beneath her.

The grey stud dropped his cranium slightly, knowing it sort of sounded like he was pleading. He didn't mean to, and although he wanted her to come back, he wasn't here to convince her of that. He was here purely to apologize and wish her on her way. Still, the stomach wrenching hope that she WOULD stay was all but painful, as he knew she wouldn't and there was nothing, absolutely nothing, he could do about it. As she stepped back and hid her wounds, his audits flicked back slightly as he winced.. another mistake he had made, drawing attention to it. However, he couldn't stop now- those obviously weren't branch marks. Still, a small part of him was hurt that she still didn't trust him at all. Not even enough to tell her where a couple scrapes came from. Her obvious lie was like a slap to the face, denying he had ever tried to help her. She mineswell just tell him to leave- he knew she wanted him to. He sighed slightly, his orbs flitting to the ground before he steeled himself and tried to concentrate, swallowing a couple remorseful comments. At her pleading that he drop it, he averted his gaze for a second again, but didn't say anything more about the matter. It was obvious she didn't want his help and protection, and although he couldn't help caring, he could try to hold back. As her explanation started, he brought his dark orbs back to hers, understanding her want to find her dam. It was rather short, and again, he wished she would trust him enough to say more, but it wasn't like he had given her much reason to. Anxiously swishing his tail, he lifted his cranium slightly, glancing around, looking anywhere but her as he thought about what to say. A sudden thought popped into his head, one he deemed completely insane but couldn't quell. It rose up to the front of his mind and sat there, like a neon light in the middle of a darkened forest. He didn't want to leave her alone, let her go off into the wilderness with Rock still roaming around. If he went with her? That wouldn't happen. A quick thought back to his herd was the only thing that brought a momentary stop to his idea. However, when he weighed it ... he knew, deep down, he would never be fully okay if he just let her go. He hesitated for a second before taking a breath. She was going to turn him down, but at least he would've given it a shot. "Can I go with you, at least until you find your dam? If she's not at the place of our old herd, I know a couple other places she might've gone..." He said quietly, bringing his umber orbs back up to her. "Don't say no because of the herd, please. If you're going to say no, say it because you don't want me along, not because you're trying to make decisions about the herd for me." He explained quietly, glancing down.

Okay, the long posts took it out of me XD ) . Noda didn't need to think hard about her decision. Of course she wanted him to go with her. She wanted to scream her exctitement and embrace him! But that wasn't real life, and it couldn't be that easy and perfect, could it? She sighed deeply, and brought her orbs to his. "If the herd wasn't a thought, then yes, I want you to come with me." She smiled softly at him, letting their gaze linger just slightly too long. Truthfully, she wanted to convonce him; tell him she honeslty had no idea where she was going. She had no idea where her birth her was or used to be! She wanted to say how terrible it would be for her to go out alone without a clue, but that wasn't right, and it wasn't her place to burden him with that choice. "But, with Rock ... and Minnah ... " She let the thoughts rest there, not making the decision for him or trying to sway him in either direction. She couldn't help but think about how the mare would react to such a decision. Her anger would've made Noda feel slightly better. Edited at May 22, 2024 04:18 PM by Arabian Heritage

(That's fine lol, my last two were rather short) - The grey stallion didn't want it to, but he felt his hope return like a crashing tidal wave. He was so hopeful she'd say yes, as he didn't want to admit, but he knew he'd never be fully whole again unless things between them got completely cleared up. The herd could fend for themselves for a mere week or two, as he had gone on little trips to find better food and water before. Minnah usually did a good job looking out for them. Of course, he couldn't just disappear, as he'd have to at very least tell them he was leaving. Honestly, it was a small thing. At her sigh, a tiny bit of worry flashed across his expression, as even though he knew it wasn't likely she said yes, he was still worried she would say no. Because of that, when she spoke, momentarily surprise flitted across his vision, but it disappeared quickly and was replaced with ... he wasn't quite sure. Relief? Joy? Thankfulness? He didn't know exactly how to feel, so he settled on a small smile, which shone a little more than he wanted it to. Now he could help her, and hopefully she would find her dam. He would do quite a bit to make that happen, as now he had switched his focus from trying to help her to trying to understand. Because of that, he understood, as much as he could, how HARD it would be to see flashbacks of someone you knew loved you but not remember them at all. Her next words, even as they trailed off, caused him to shake his head. "Rock isn't after the mares I protect. That wasn't his goal in coming here. And Minnah? Why would she be a problem?" He asked with a slight head tilt, his orbs flitting to hers. "In any case, if you do allow me to come, I have to go tell them. Disappearing wouldn't do anyone any good."

Im at work, my phone is about to die, and I have no charger! This is what I could manage for now 😂) . Noda watched a smile flash against his muzzle at her acceptance of his proposal, her her audits listened to the words he spoke with a concerning, faint frown. “You wouldn’t suspect that he might try his luck with the herd to get back at you over that last scuffle?” She asked, but the second he brought up Minnah, she was ready to move on from the topic. “Nothing, she just seems to have a stronger opinion about things than the others.” Noda simply implied. “I’m sure she’s the one you would have to discuss it with.” She paused, searching for her next words. She was happy and relieved that the stallion would be joining her, but that didn’t mean she still didn’t feel a little guilty about pulling him away from the mares that relied on him for protection. But she now also needed his protection … it was just too complicated, plus, if he did come and she did return with her dam, she was more than sure Minnah was going to make her life a living hell for taking her man.
