Ella, after a little while, re entered the room from the bathroom, wiping down her face as she had splashed water over it to somehow calm herself down. She glanced down at Sage who was pretty much cowering in the same corner, her gaze flitting from the drawings to him. She hadn't mean to leave them out for him to see, but by this point she didn't care. It wasn't her problem if he thought her weird now was it. After a couple minutes, she looked up from where she had placed herself, giving a false smile. "Are you okay?" she asked politely, stuffing the drawings into a folder and under the desk.

Sage had sort of frozen in place when she looked from the drawings to him, but forced himself to relax a little bit when she asked if he was alright. She obviously didn't really care if he was or not, but he nodded silently anyway. He'd have to respond somehow, after all. "Yeah," he said quietly after a moment, sort of scooting over to attempt to nibble at the food he'd grabbed. He'd gotten himself all nervous though, so even though he had pretty small servings, he barely ate anything. Oh well, it would save him a trip later.

Ella gave a slow nod in Sages direction as he responded, albeit a bit dry, and reached round to the back of her her, sliding the pin out to let her hair down. Once she had finally settled in in sections in front and behind her shoulders, she set her hands back down on her knees and looked in the boys direction, intertwining her fingers. "Did you like the drawings?" she asked, a slight twinkle in her eye. Her tone wasn't exactly patronising, but it wasn't friendly either. It more more..teasing, Playful, almost.

Sage was rather surprised to hear from the girl when she spoke up again, though her tone did relax him a bit more. He gave her the ghost of a smile and a nod, shrugging slightly. "they were pretty good," he admitted. "That little girl....is that your sister," he asked after a moment, cocking his head curiously. "If you don't mind me asking," he added in hurriedly after a moment. He certainly didn't want to get on her bad side. Then again, he certainly wasn't on her good side either. She just seemed to care less if he was there or not. Which, if he was being honest, was almost worse than before. At least the old queen had liked him for something. He was good for something. Now, he wasn't so sure he was doing anything. He certainly wasn't worthy of much.

Sages words left Ella holding her breath for a good 30 seconds, and her exhale came out rather quickly as she remembered to breathe again. After a couple more seconds she leant back against the chair, twirling her hair around her finger, watching as the curl bounced back when she let it go. "Yes. Shes not..here anymore" She said, her voice trailing off slightly as she pictured the blonde 9 year old girl in her head. It was strange for Sage not to know, the girls death hadn't been spread to the public at all, but he was part of royalty. "Didn't you know? My father definitely let absolutely everyone in this palace know what happened, i thought you'd know too" she added, her tone coming out a little softer than before, and less teasing.

Sage frowned slight when she mentioned that the little girl wasn't here anymore and then shook his head in response to her comment. "I've been kept in this room for three years," he reminded her quietly. "I'm not exactly told much," he pointed out with a shrug. "I'm sorry though," he added. "I lost a sister too...but she only lived for a few weeks," he noted. It was sort of random....but maybe it was something could connect them a bit. He wasn't asking for a friend....not at all, that would probably never happen....but at least they could find something to talk about here or there.

"Oh" Was the only reply that left Ella's mouth in regards to Sages first comment, and she looked down at the floor for a quick minute, relaying her possible answers in her head. What exactly was she meant to say to him saying he was left in a room for three years? Congratulations? I'm sorry? Neither of those were exactly fitting. Instead, she let her one word answer settle as he carried on speaking, her uninterested expression turning to that of slight sympathy. "I'm sorry too. About your sister I mean. What happened?" She asked, rubbing her arm nervously as she asked the question. Ella most definitely wasn't used to being so forward with questions about sensitive topics, let alone one that they both shared trauma with.

Sage sort of let his first comment pass, since he really wasn't even sure why he'd said it. Though, he nodded when she said she was sorry. She seemed genuine about it too...she may be faking it, but he was going to pretend she cared about it enough to mean that. A darker look flickered over his face at her question, before he replaced his mask over his emotions and shook his head. "The cold got to her," he hummed. "She was born in the dead of winter, and mom got sick and all, and then they both just went one night. Don't know for sure why," he murmured. "I couldn't say that my dad didn't have something to do with it either," he grumbled. He noticed he'd started to scratch at his arm...an old habit that left scars and scabs everywhere he could reach. He forced his fingers to still before he drew too much blood, since he really didn't want to bother or upset Ella.

Ella listened to Sage speak, keeping her lips firmly pressed together until he had completely finished talking, her eyes flitting from her desk to him and so forth. She gave a slow nod of acknowledgment after he had finished his comments, relaying the words through her mind. "Well again, i'm sorry." she said quietly, her words this time sounding a lot more genuine than they had the first time she said those two words. Because they were. In no way was she planning on bonding entirely with the guy over the same line of trauma, but at least they knew something about each other, right? Her gaze quickly landed on Sage's arm, and she quickly looked away at the sight of the scratching. Though Ella didn't have any habits like that, it still made her feel slightly ill at the sight and she never had any clue how to react, even with her helpful nature. "I won't pry anymore, anyway. Did you get all the food you wanted?" she asked politely, speaking with a fresh breath to remove the solemn tone she had picked up.

Sage sort of only shrugged in response to her comment about being sorry. She sounded genuine this time around too, which was certainly nice. "It happens out there," he said quietly. They were rather poor....so it wasn't uncommon for someone to die overnight without anyone knowing how or why out there. "I still have someone left anyway," he commented after a bit. "That's why I'm trying to make at least a bit of money and send it to them." He nodded when she mentioned the food though, glancing back at the half eaten tiny servings of food. "I had enough for what I needed," he hummed. He had a feeling it was just to move the topic on, though.
