Death scowled and clenched his fist, and Sage's collar turned a bright white and he screamed and collapsed to his hands and knees as Death laughed |

Maxine could only see the glow and heard Sage scream, she knelt beside him and grabbed for the light, she didn't know what exactly she was grabbing at but her intentions were clear... she wanted to help him. Shortly after that began a women entered the building... apparently out of nowhere "Fate?!" Roxie cried her eyes wide. Her hair was silver and she wore a long lavender-colored gown "Yes Roxie... It's me..." she smirked "Death stop it... now!" she snapped at him her eyes narrowing at him. She had a hand in everything... it stood to reason she had a hand in this too... she was in fact Fate. She knew death hated it when she interfeared like this, but dying now wasn't a part of Maxine or Sage's fate. |

Death snarled and uncurled his fist, and Sage took a shaky breath. He looked up at Fate in wonder, confused as to why she was doing what she was doing. Death put his hands behind his back and smiled at Maxine. "Well, I guess interacting with a demon can give you good luck after all." Sage winced he he said that and closed his eyes, sure that if Maxine made the connection she would hate him. |

Maxine looked from Death and Fate to Sage "You're a Demon?!" she asked her eye widening in pure shock. "He is." Fate said gently "And your fate and his became intertwined the moment he spared your life... even if it was out of spite..." she smirked eyeing them knowingly as if she knew what had happened between the two of them whilst they were in the room together. "However... because your fate is altered... so is your death." she said gently "However... the two of you will be bonded in a way no demon and mortal have been before..." she said gently "A tie no one and nothing can break..." she murmured softly turning to death "You'll have your pound of flesh one day... and in her death you'll gain not one but two new demons..." she said "Weather they follow your command or not... is entirely up to them." she said firmly. |

Sage groaned and shook his head. "That wasn't what he had imagined would happen. Death smiled and shrugged. "Well, the girl is mortal so she's yours. But the boy is mine. I own him. And as long as he doesn't die and stay dead, it within the limits of what you're saying. Torture and regeneration for the rest of eternity fits into the boundaries." Sage cringed. "Wow. To imagine I actually liked working for you when I was young and stupid. Well, stupider." Fate sighed and snapped her fingers Sage's collar opened and fell at his side. She them looked at Maxine. "put it back on," she urged her gently. Sage recoiled in shock. "You want her to-" Fate nodded and Sage sighed and bit his lip."fine" |

Maxine was so confused and terrified at the same time... she didn't know what to make of all of this... When the collar fell to the floor beside her Maxine shrank away "W-Why?" she asked looking up at Fate before turning to Sage "Why does she want me to put the collar back on?" she asked looking at him "Doesn't it hurt you?" she asked "I-I don't understand any of this..." she admitted. |

Sage shook his head "only if my master wants to hurt me. And someone's a petty bastard so he did it often," snapped glaring at Death. Fate nodded and Death snarled. "Stop wasting my time I'm going to own him and continue the torture for rebellion." He lunged for sages collar and sage looked back and forth between everyone in the room rapidly. |

Maxine nodded when death started coming after them Maxine was quick to react "I'm not going to let you hurt him anymore." She snapped quickly putting the collar around Sage's neck again "Nobody ever will hurt him anymore..." She said looking at Sage as she slid her bloodied hands off his neck looking up at him "I promise." She said gently. |

Sage shivered as she clipped the collar around his neck and then gasped when he felt the change of power. He could feel her sincerity. He looked up from the ground for the first time in the confrontation and smiled softly. "Thanks," he whispered. death screeched in anger and got up in Sage's face yelling so sage scowled and kneed him in the groin and he dissapeared |

"You're welcome..." She whispered back but when death came over she was quick to go behind Sage. She only came out from behind him again when Death and the demons had vanished "You're safe now..." Fate said "Go get yourselves taken care of..." She said gently "But I'm afraid you can't remain in one place for long..." She said gently "In fact as soon as you're able to you both should get out of the city..." She said gently "They're going to be hunting you both..." She pointed out "And death is going to be looking for a way to get his hands back on that collar..." Fate said. Maxine gave a small nod "Alright... Thank you." She said gently standing up and offering a hand to Sage "Come on... Let's go get fixed up..." She said gently. |
