Adele nodded weakly and muttered, "That's a good idea." She gently climbed into bed next to Caelan, curling up under the rough sheet. She heard his breathing, felt the beating of his heart and the warmth of his presence. Her eyes fluttered shut, but she didn't want to sleep. She wanted to make sure Caelan was okay. She would stay awake all night, and if she heard his heart fading, she would be there to help. Adele forced her eyes open and looked at his shadowy, pale face. She pressed a kiss to his forehead, lingering there for a moment, before wrapping her arms around him in a safe embrace.

"I love you so much, darling" he muttered

"Oh, Caelan, I love you too." Adele murmured, voice breaking.

"It's gonna be alright, Adele." He reassured her tiredly. "Sleep now. I'll be here tomorrow, I promise." He said, falling asleep as soon as she did. He woke the next morning--though, woke isn't the word most would use. He more gained half conciousness but couldn't respond. Doctors rushed in worriedly, trying to make him wake. He tried fighting the black wall that was slowly closing in but was losing. He heard Adele's name be mentioned a fought harder, the black wall disperssing

Adele fell asleep, half glad he had made her sleep and half worried that he was wrong about being there tomorrow. The minute he gained half consciousness, Adele woke. Three doctors she recognized from the day kingdom came in and began fussing over Caelan, asking Adele questions, and bustling around. Adele was glad they were here, but it was hard to answer them when Caelan was clearly near the end of the line. She grasped his hand tightly, willing him to pull through.

The black wall broke, Caelan gasping as he sat up. He wrapped his arms around Adele, sobbing from fear

Adele wrapped her arms around him, trying to be comforting, though she herself was terrified as well.

"I love you...I love you so much"

Adele would have responded, but she knew if she opened her mouth the only thing that would come out was a sob. Instead, she bit her lip and tried not to cry, rocking Caelan back and forth.

Caelan held onto her, feeling quite weak and small but not caring
