Gale drifted back off, finally looking at ease for once.

He awoke the next morning, walking to the bathroom before coughing up blood, wiping his mouth before staring into nothing for a moment as he washed away the evidence.

He sighed, walking back out and strapping his armor on, grabbing his sword before silently slipping out.

Kayla woke, saw he wasn't there, and sighed sadly. "Guess he couldn't even say good morning..." She muttered, getting dressed

Gale quickly strode down the hall, looking at the sundial and cursing as he realized he was already late to the meeting. Though, he stopped, glancing around as something felt off. Where. . .was. . . everybody? He shook his head and continued walking, paling at the sight of bodies littered all over the floor, dozens of them, young and old, even his favorite squire---dead. -Get to Kayla, keep her safe.- Was his only thought in the moment, breaking into a sprint up all twelve flights of stairs back to their level, and out of the knights level. He skid around the corner, the rug curling slightly where he did so before he propelled himself forward, legs starting to ache as he continued on. Gale burst into their hallway, seeing the door open just slightly and a figure slip inside. He tackled the figure to the ground, teeth bared as he fought with all he had left. The man looked up at Kayla, pupils dilating as he did so before an uppercut caught his attention, the two men tumbling onto the balcony.

Kayla yelped, frightened at the men fighting so close to her. "What the fuck?" She muttered, grabbing her dagger and putting it in her hip sheath and snatching one of the swords on the wall next to her vanity. She peeked around the corner to their bedroom before gasping and shutting the door quickly. She locked the door, turning back to Gale and the man fighting
