Dont worry, Mercy never does as shes told anyway lol)) Mercy smiled at him and nodded teasingly. "Yes, this is what you get." She looked quite surprised as he mentioned that his compliments were genuine. "Well, thanks-" She blinked in surprise as his tone changed massively. "Ajax, I'm sorry, I didn't-" She shrank when he started speaking again, giving him a somewhat meek look. "I- Ajax, I didn't-" She blinked in alarm, shaking her head as he placed her on the couch. "Ajax, don't leave." She pleaded. She curled up quietly as she watched him leave, conflicted over what to do. He said he wanted to be by himself, so she should leave him alone, right? But what if he wanted to be chased? Would it be worse if she didn't? The decision almost brought her to tears. After a short while, she decided it was better to be yelled at for caring than acting like She hadn't at all. She took off lightly from her window, flying in the general direction of his cave. When she got there, she found it empty. She let out a frustrated groan and sank to her knees, laying her head in her hands. She slowly lifted her head when she heard faint singing, glancing up. She walked slowly to the cave entrance, looking toward the sky. It was in time to hear the end of his first song. At least, she figured it was Ajax singing. She took off lightly, flying silently to where he was to see him seated at a piano, singing again. She leaned against a wall and watched him quietly. His first song had been depressing, but this one felt more... outward. It clicked that he was obviously singing about someone. She wanted it to be her. But would that be presumptuous? She walked closer to him as the song neared its end, watching him curl up. "Ajax..." She whispered, gently laying a hand on his back. She used the other to gently brush against the feathers of his wing, almost asking him to uncurl them. Edited at October 1, 2023 02:28 PM by Widow Valley Farms

Ajax kept his eyes shut and let flow the tears that had been cooped up inside for decades. All the tears from every scar he had gotten. All the tears from dying and the pain. All the tears from every broken bone. All the tears from all the abuse and ridicule he had endured. In Everything, he had never let himself cry, but now... it was just to much. He flinched and his wings tightened around him as Mercy spoke, since he hadn't even heard her come in. Ajax's shoulders sagged as he forced himself to stop the unhelpful sobbing. It wasn't fixing anything, just making him look like a foolish five year old. Is wings grew almost limp under Mercy's touch, disappearing again to only reveal Ajax's black shirt and the back of his head, staring at the white and black keys on the piano. He wished he could just express how he was feeling through words, but he couldn't, and right now he just needed to pretend like Mercy wasn't there for a moment. Ajax ran his fingers over the keys before playing the slow chorus to the first song he had played, his voice even quieter and more withdrawn as he sang along. "Would anyone care? Would anyone cry... if I finally gave up and turned out the lights. Would anything change? Would you be just fine? Cause I need a reason to not throw the fight..." He slowly sang, finishing with a shake of his head. "There's another song by that artist... it is actually my theme song because I find it comical. While listening to that I happened to hear this one. Since then I have played it hundreds upon hundreds of times whenever I felt like the world was against me." Ajax murmured quietly, his voice hoarse, still staring at the piano.

Mercy let him cry, sinking onto the piano seat beside him when he unfolded his wings. She gently draped one of her wings over his back, wrapping an arm around him as well. She blinked in surprise as he started playing again, watching his hands on the keys. She took in a slow breath as he sang, pressing herself close into his side. She listened to him speak afterwards, staying where she was hesitantly. She knew he didn't like to be touched. "Ajax, I wasn't kidding when I said I was always gonna be here. I always am. And I'll always be on your side." She said softly, gently curling her arms around him so he could push her away if he wanted. "Ajax, I'm... who was that... second song about?" She asked softly.

For once in his life, Ajax was comforted by Mercy's closeness, happy he could trust her to always be there.... even if he didn't feel like she was. He took in some slow breaths, not wanting to go back to his old, angry ways where he just pushed away whoever tried to help him. Mercy meant well, and he knew that, and he would never just yell at her if he could help it. When she spoke his eyes fell down to the keys again, not meeting her gaze. A tiny, itty bitty smile flickered across his face at her next sentence. "This one?" He asked with a slight tilt of his head, playing the other tune again... this time the whole song .. mostly because for him it was Therapuetic. Believe it or not, after he died he learned how to play the piano and found he really loved the sound of it. "You burn so bright, i see stars. When you laugh, it's like a heavenly choir. You made me feel, invincible. When you're with me, I could take on the world. You are a comet, and I lost it... watching for comets, will I see you again? You burn so bright, you burn me up tonight." He just sang the chorus, using the foot pedals to get the tune perfect. It was sad, yes, but also held a hopeful ring to it. "Say my name, I'll be there. I didn't know, you should've said that you cared. It's not too late, for broken hearts. Take my hand, and make a wish on the stars. You were a comet, and I lost it. Watching for comets, will I see you again? Everybody needs someone, how can I feel like this? How can I breath, with this burning in my chest? You were gone so fast, I want you back. You are a comet, and I lost it. Watching for comets, will i see you, again?" Ajax finished, leaving out the other part of the song that he hasn't even sang the first time. His voice had been perfect for the tune, pouring his emotion into the singing to make it sound real. "Well that song... that was about you." Ajax answered with a swift glance towards Mercy, his dark eyes glinting blue in the faint light flickering into the cave.

Mercy watched him silently as he went to speak, gently pulling one hand away so he could play. She nodded with a smile as she recognized the tune. "Yeah, this one." She said softly, pressing into him slightly as he started to sing. She looked up to watch his face as he sang, a slightly mesmerized look in her eyes. She was holding her breath by the time he finished, giving him a sweet smile as he answered. "I was really hoping you would say that." She murmured, sitting up straighter and gently tilting his head toward her so she could give him a kiss.

Ajax was comforted by the gentle, lulling tune of the piano. He may not have played it when he was, cough, alive... but it was very helpful now. Plus the fact that it flabbergasted anyone he to,d was enough. *No, wait, you? Play the piano? Haha good joke* Was the response he got most times. Or.. *Oh yeah, sure, by punching the keys?* Was another he had. "Oh you were? Really? Why-" Ajax questioned, then paused as Mercy leaned in to kiss him. Well, you can only imagine how many emotions flashed across this poor sap's face, but really... he felt like the luckiest man alive... or dead... at that moment. "I- you- Mercy- I-" Ajax tried, and failed to find the right words. After all, it was literally his first kiss, in life and after it. Obviously for a man who had never liked anyone before, of course he hadn't kissed anyone, but for the few people/demons/angels who asked... were actually surprised by his answer. Now he'd have to change that answer. Mind blowing.
