"Oh you know, I slept," Nate offered, smiling slightly. He was anout to speak again but a pan dropped in the kitchen, the big clank and rolling startled him pretty good. RJ "Oops. Sorry!" He called from the kitchen. Nate giggled quietly.

"Good." Tempe nodded lightly, flinching at the loud noise from the kitchen. She looked over at Russ in concern, raising her eyebrows. She smiled at his apology, waving it off and setting herself back down with a slight twitch of pain.

He looked down at her, wishing she would heal faster. Even though she was doing remarkably well already. But he didn't appreciate watching her suffer with every move. RJ "I'm gonna make bacon and eggs, since you're awake. Want some?" Nate glanced down at her.

Tempe perked up at the mention of food, as always. "Yes, please!" She called eagerly, grinning brightly at Nate in an innocently excited way. "I love being in the same house as someone who can cook." She said playfully, stretching her legs out slightly.

Nate made an insulted look at her. "Hurting my feelings like that." He sniffed. Dropping that look when he reached down, offering his hand to help her up. Her smile made it hard to be rven fakely insulted.

"Awe, I'm sorry. ...but it's true." Tempe teased, taking his hand and using it to stand. She wobbled a little when she got on both feet, but otherwise she managed okay. Gently releasing his hand, she made her way a little unsteadily to the table- but she made it, settling where she had yesterday and offering Nate a grin. If there was one thing that would cheer Tempe up instantly, it was food. Always.

He rolled his eyes. Using his other hand to steady her with a hand on her shoulder. He took his hands off as she let go and trailed behind her. He sat down where he had last night, leaving Russ to put a plate full of pancakes in the table's center with a few other toppings. He'd made Nate's favorite, strawberry pancakes. "Thanks maaan." He teased childishly, though obviously pleased. skippe?) Edited at February 27, 2024 10:18 PM by Prismatic Cove

Tempe was simply sitting on the rocking bench on the front porch, curled up a little. She was alone; an increasingly common occurence as she distanced herself from Nate. It was a combination of things that made her pull away, really. Mainly the fact that every time she looked around, all she could imagine was another, younger, similiar girl strolling around the house. Shooting smiles and making Russ and Nate laugh or grin. Brown eyes instead of blue, but still so scarily familiar when put side by side. She had never thought, of all things, she would be jealous of a dead girl. Of course, the twisted reasoning in her head that tried to say her withdrawal was for Nate's sake, and not because of some selfish, child-like... infatuation. Not love. Dead people didn't... do love. Tempe didn't do love. She pulled herself out of her thoughts and tried to focus more on the forest instead of whatever the slowly churning whirlwind of feelings was in her brain. Her wound was healing nicely, which was welcome relief. It was less painful to move now and most of the pain that did occur was internal, seeing as her skin had mended over the wound a small while ago. She didn't need help with basic movement anymore, which was both a dissapointment and a relief for various reasons.

Staying here at the junkyard with his honorary dad hadn't meant to last so long, he wanted to be out there hunting, but now he found himself worrying. Stressing over her slight pains. Nate knew she had to be tired of him babying her by now, he'd been trying to back off too. Attributing her withdrawal to his attentiveness. He stared out the window, uneasy. He figured she'd want space, but he was wondering if that wasn't it. She had always preferred it when they were side by side, sleeping in the same bed. Now she was better, now she didn't want that. He had gotten used to it. He liked it. Nate paced about the kitchen for a minute before he walked outside. His steps light and even as he opened the loud and squeaky door, it shut with a bang, and then a second smaller bang 'cause it wouldn't latch the firist time. "How ya' doin' Tempe?" Nate asked casually, arms crossed, slightly slouching, he was a bit tired.
