The doctor glanced at Lizzie as he placed the small vile on the side. "It's a mixture of milk thistle, lungwort, lemon and ginger. Its normally mashed down into a pill, but it'll be easier for your friend to swallow like this." The man shrugged and pulled out a small tube so that it could be funnelled straight into the boys throat, considering it didn't seem likely that he would be able to drink from a cup. "It'll be about fifteen minutes before this will kick in. He's just going to have to hold on tight until then, I'm afraid. He's going to have a coughing fit, and it's going to hurt, but then he should be alright for a short while. Get his strength up and give him something to eat. I'll be back in a few hours to see what we can do to clear up this infecton." Anya sat quietly on the bed in the corner, stairing at the ground. It was hard to watch for a little while. She had known this doctor for years. He had treated her as a small child, and yet she still found herself questioning his ablitlites. Maybe it was because it wasn't herself she was worried about for a change. Obviously, if anything happened to Sage she'd be mortified, but it would hit Lizzie a million times harder.

Lizzie nodded slowly, thinking. "So if he needs to cough something more up after that, if I make him eat those herbs it will make him do it? I gathered some to see what would help the infection earlier." She tapped her lips thoughtfully and went over to the tiny piles she had laid out and rummaged through them. "I have everything here." She sat back and looked over at Anya. "And you don't have to stay here if you have things to do, you know," she added gently. She went over to the side of the bed and peered down at her brother. Fifteen minutes the doctor had said. Could he hold on that long? He was a fighter, and she could be sure he was fighting right now, but how long could he do it? She'd seen him in dire situations before, but a stab wound he could sew up himself even if he was bleeding out. This was different. She always wondered what he was thinking during times like this, where there was a good chance he would die.

The man gave a quiet nod, slipping the liquid to Sage before turning around. "It should do something for him, I suppose. If he can't swallow, then soak them in some warm water to make a tea and give the boy that." He grumbled, putting the lid back on the vile and placing it in his little tool bag. He bid them a short good bye before slipping back out the door, but only after giving Anya a slight glare; like he was warning her from asking anything else. Anya, who was now laying on her back on the opposite bed, seemed to pay no mind to him. She would repay him once Sage was better, and no sooner. The girl glanced at Lizzie for a moment before nodding. "I don't have anything planned for today. I'm meant to be resting... I do need to get dressed properly, I suppose," she noted with a soft chuckle as she swung her legs off the bed. She didn't really want to leave Lizzie alone with Sage while he was expected to be coughing his guts out at any moment, but she wouldn't be long anyway, and once Sage did start coughing, it wasn't like she had the gut to deal with it.

Lizzie nodded thoughtfully and then once the doctor left she smiled over at Anya. "You go do what you have to do," she told her. "Sage is gonna cough up whatever he has to. He doesn't need our help for that. We'll be fine " if what the doctor said was true, that's what would happen. Coughing it up would hurt, yes, but it would help him to breathe so it was well worth it. Besides, she knew Anya wasn't a fan of blood, so she didn't have to stay here while Sage's came up. Sage moved around a bit as the solution started to work, but he hadn't started coughing quite yet, that would come with time....the solution wasn't going to work right away, the doctor had said fifteen minutes.

Anya gave a shallow nod before wandering towards the door. Lizzie was right. She didn't need to be there, and she could always check in again in a few hours if she felt like it. "Yeah, I'm sure you're right." She murmured softly before opening the door a little, "hold on tight, I'm sure he's going to be better soon." Anya gave a smile before disappearing behind the door and going back to her own chambers. She wasn't sure why she was so reluctant to leave. She was risking her ability to leave the castle by having the doctor see to Sage, and she shouldn't really care if Sage or Lizzie lived or died at all. He was some tavern boy... replaceable to the likes of her in every way. She could find someone else to walk with her, and the tavern could employ someone else with a snap of their fingers. Still... the thought of him dying, that she'd never get to see the boy again, it made her stomach turn.

Lizzie walked back over to the bed once Anya had left and sat down at the foot of the bed with a sigh. All she could do now was wait for sage to cough up everything in his lungs, and then have the doctor check in on him later, which as supposedly already going to happen. She waited for about five more minutes before Sage started to cough. Sage was barely conscious when he started coughing, but the more he coughed up the more air he could fit into his lungs. By the time he had coughed up most up it he was fully awake, which meant he could feel everything, but the pain meant he was still awake and kicking so he couldn't really complain about that. Once he was done, he flopped back onto the bed and wheezed for a minute before he caught his breath again and looked over at Lizzie, wiping his mouth with his shirt. "You came back early." Lizzie giggled and wrapped her arms around him. "You were out for a while." Sage hugged her back and looked over at the puddle on the floor and made a face. Ok, so it was pretty bad. But he was alright for now. They could figure something out.

Once Anya had finally made it back to her room, she found herself just staring in a mirror. It looked like she had been dragged through a hedge backwards, and she wasn't even the one going through anything. Though she was a little tired from the night before still. Anya had gotten used to having little to no sleep over the last week or so, but she supposed everything that happened over the last two days, with the ball and Sage, was all rather draining, both physically and emotionally. The girl groaned a little before fixing her hair up so that it wasn't quite a birds nest any more, then swapped into something on the more casual side for a change. What she had on had to be nice or anything, not if she was only going to see Lizzie and Sage. She wasn't likely to run into anyone particularly important...everyone was snoring away happily, recovering from the night before.

Sage and Lizzie talked for a bit until he got tired, and then she slipped off the bed to let him rest. She went over into the corner to sort her herbs to keep herself busy. She was a bit bored cooped up in a room, but it was for sage so she couldn't complain. Sage lay down on the piles of pillows, tired and sweaty but he could actually take a somewhat full breath so he decided it was fine. He closed his eyes, not to sleep but just to rest. He didn't know what the doctor would do when he came back, if he came back, but wanted to be prepared for whatever it was he was going to do. Drain his lungs obviously, but how? Sage decided not to think about it since it was making his head swirl again.

Anya fiddled with her thumbs, starting to pace back and fourth in her room. After preparing for the ball, along with worrying over Sage and Lizzie, being in her room with nothing to do seemed almost... boring. She would normally sit and read a book or practice some sort of instrument... if she really had nothing to do, then she would resort to just sitting out on the balcony and watching the neighbouring village. Now, all of those things almost seemed still. Like they weren't quite enough to do. She had gotten used to company. When she was little, she recalled playing bored games with her nannies. All the basics, snakes and ladders, chess and three in a row were the main ones. Anya stopped her pacing for a moment as she thought, then set off rummaging through her cupboards. She should still have them somewhere... and if she could find them, then she could bring them back to Sage and Lizzie so they could have something to do while pinned up in their room.

Lizzie finished sorting out her herbs and tiptoed back over to the bed, crawling up beside Sage. He opened his eyes and smiled over at her and scooted over as best he could so she had room. Lizzie curled up next to sage and soon fell asleep. Sage himself closed his eyes too, though he probably shouldn't fall asleep. If he was out and started coughing he could very well choke on his own blood, and that wouldn't help any of the four of them, the doctor included. He found that though amusing and he grinned, wrapping an arm around Lizzie. He was content to lay there, though he knew he had to get up and do something soon. His work was highly demanding, and he had to get back to it as soon as possible. He knew Anya would take care of them, and he was thankful for it, but he also knew he couldn't just rely on her...he had to do the work on his own, too.
