"Wow, okay." Iris said, writing that down. "Let's start on page one..." The session went by slowly, but Iris thought Carmen had a better idea of the chapters she'd read now. She began packing her things.

Carmen packed up as well, hesitating at the door. "Hey um, about Caden. . ." She trailed off, looking back at her. "Just watch out for him, okay?" With that she slipped out, smirking the second she was out of Iris's sight. -Easy, get her paranoid so she leaves him, then he'll be mine again. Simple plan.-

Iris just sighed and shook her head. Finished with packing her things, she sent a quick text to Caden. -Hey. Sorry I left in a rush. What days are you available to study?- She wanted to add that she also just wanted some time to hang out with him, but she thought there wouldn't be time for that, with finals and all. She left the room and checked her calendar in the hallway. She had an English club meeting at a local coffee shop in half an hour. That was enough time to change and reset her bag for the meeting. She began to head towards her room, crunching through the snow that nearly blinded her in the late morning light.

-My schedule is jam packed the next 2 weeks, then once we're on break i'm heading back to Arizona to see family and stuff. Sorry.- He shot back, knowing 'family' was friends he'd made there, and his actual family---or more so, what was left of it---were all back in Russia, and he didn't plan on going there anytime soon. Caden kicked the snow off his shoes and walked into the library, finding a quick spot to study for his calculus 2 final.

Iris saw the text and replied. -No problem! See you around.- She got back to her room and kicked the snow off her boots. Then she prepared for the English meeting, leaving the room about ten minutes before the meeting started. That should get her there on time. Edited at December 9, 2025 04:54 PM by Fantasy Horses

(All good lol) Iris saw the text and bit her lip, worried. That didn't sound good. Just the way he'd typed it suggested he was... what? Depressed? Whatever it was, it worried her. She made it through the meeing and actually enjoyed herself, to her surprise. One of the members said something about Iris's favorite book series, and they got into a discussion about the last book.

Caden attempted to focus on his material, yet nothing was making sense to him. Well, the math was, everything else wasn't. He wouldn't be able to see Iris for almost a month, had to somehow manage in Arizona, all while balancing what kept him able to afford college and everything inbetween---his constant source of wealth. His head started pounding as he attempted to shove the thougths away, though they crept back like a poison slowly spreading. -Maybe another time I can study, i'm getting nowhere now.- Caden thought, slipping his books back into his bag before starting the trek back to his dorm, head down, avoiding any conversation.

(I'm sensing that you are getting a good plot idea. Or maybe I'm crazy.) Iris said goodbye to Jenny, the woman she had talked about the books with, and walked back to her room. The snow had piled up at least three inches, but the sun was out and it had stopped snowing, so Iris knew it wouldn't last. But she enjoyed it for now, as she walked along the path, every sound muffled by the heavy coat of cold.

(>:D) Caden walked along the paved pathway back to his dorm, his coat covering his features as he pulled his hood up, disguising his face in a casted shadow. The man bumped into somebody, not glancing back to see if it was her as he somewhat gave up, figuring maybe a few calls he would be able to make, though he was unsure as he reached his door, slipping into his building after kicking the snow off his shoes. He down the hall to the elevator, ascending to the tenth floor where he got down and made his way to his door, unlocking it before walking in and shutting the door behind him. The Russian rested his forehead against the cold wood, standing there for a moment before huffing a breath and stepping away, slinging his bag off his shoulders onto the ground before collapsing onto his bed, utterly exhausted.
