"You don't need to repay me, I promise." She assured.

"Well I mean, kinda do, you practically made it illegal for my father to come near me so, gotta repay you best I can." He explained, offering a smile.

"Just you being safe is enough for me."

"Sure, then." He murmured, leading her out to his truck before hopping in and starting to drive back.

"Are you okay?" She aked.

-Hell no- "Yes, what makes you ask?" Marco questioned, glancing over at her.
| |
| |

"You seem stressed." She responded.
| |

"I'm not," He assured, voice somehwhat shaky.

| |

"Marco, you can talk to me. I'm not crippled." She assured.

"I know," He replied, keeping his gaze forward and ignoring how his voice wavered. Marco's grip on the wheel tightened, his knuckles turning white as he swallowed. The man huffed a laugh, an echo, really. "Really wanna know what's wrong?" He asked, glancing over at her before back at the road. "You on that hospital bed like that reminded me of my mom when she had to say she was fine to satisfy him while I stood useless, I sure felt useless not being able to help." Marco conffessed, not looking at her knowing he would break. "I can't lose another person I care about, might as well end it all if it happens again. I care about you, more than I should and I--I just don't wanna see you hurt." Edited at November 26, 2025 12:56 AM by RFS Thoroughbreds
