Gale awoke to see her staring at him, still half asleep as he sat up. "What is it?" He asked, feeling her hand on his wound. The man winced internally, wishing she hadn't really seen it. Gale swallowed hard, trying to remember what it was from. "Last battle I fought in, enemy attacked and yanked by breastplate off, just about stabbed me before Thom deflected it and made it just drag across, better than dead." He murmured, noting he had a few others. "I've got a few others, some worse, some better." The man explained, looking up at her. |

Selene tensed a little when he woke up, feeling bad for bringing him out of his sleep and touching beneath his clothes without permission. Slowly she withdrew her hand after caressing his side with a gentle brush of her thumb, her heart sinking a little when he told her about how he'd gotten so close to death, barely avoiding it. "Most certainly better than dead," she whispered, chewing on her bottom lip as she studied him. He didn't have to tell her about it, or any of them, yet he did. "I didn't think you'd make it out of war without injuries.. I just didn't realize how closely you might've came to death at times," she admitted, still worried that she might be able to cause him pain or discomfort somehow. Had he told her, she might've treated him more delicately, she might not have hugged him quiet as tight or cuddled quite like she did, but she understood that he might not want to talk about his injuries and risk reliving the moment. |

Gale listened, cocking his head from side to side. "Well. . . it's iffy to say not everyone has some, especially from the begining of the war. Sickness, food shortages, battle wounds, all of those added up and took their toll, some knight's minds even got so messed up they killed eachother, terrible sight to see." He murmured softly, looking back up at her. "I didn't do it, though. There were. . . a lot of times I thought about it but, you always popped back into my mind and I realized I had something to fight for so, you were definitely my motivation, if I do say so." The man explained, taking her hand and brushing his thumb over her knuckles in hopefully a soothing manner. Gale offered a small smile as he talked, hoping to lighten the mood. "Only reason i'm talking about this is because eventually i'll have to, might as well start with somebody I trust." He explained, flicking his gaze out the window as a hawk flew by. The man thought back to the mention of his wounds, noting he had many more in his head. "I've got more cuts and stuff, gonna make cool stories here in a few years. Never got them properly looked at, mainly because if you went to the medic at base, you never came back out. So they could be healed, could be healed wrong, who am I to know?" He mused with a chuckle. |

Selene listened, shuddering slightly as he described how some of the men went mad with their circumstances. She knew it couldn't have been easy, but she was glad that Gale had her to think of as his reason to keep on going down the right path. It made her happy to know that the thought of her had been enough to help. "Well.. I'm glad you held out for me. I don't know what I'd do without you," she told him, offering a weak smile as he took her hand. It was indeed a soothing motion as her head dipped to rest against his shoulder. "I know.. but don't feel like you have to talk so soon. I'm always willing to wait and I'm always willing to listen, no matter how curious I may get. They are your stories to tell, and only you can decide the right time," she told him, smiling faintly as she gave his hand a little squeeze. She chuckled as he mentioned his poorly healed cuts and such, reminding her of how she had to mend herself that one time. "I have no doubt they'll make interesting stories one day, especially if they look anything as terrible as mine after they healed," she mused, her finger tips brushing over the covered area of her arm where that jagged, raised scar sat. |

His arm settled around her shoulders as he head dipped against him, the man cracking his neck as he tugged the edge of his shirt back down. "Only reason I never got them looked at is simply because I don't trust those medics, took a few of my buddies in, never saw those guys again. So, honestly I don't care if they get infected or anything like that, i'm not stepping foot near those tents." Gale explained, a light shudder ripping through him as he thought about it. The man absently traced a line of stitches on his hand, the wound from a misplaced arrow tip. He pressed a kiss to Selene's cheek, glad to be back with her. |

Selene nodded in understanding. If it meant that he'd come back to her, she didn't care if he refused the medics. "I can always take a look at them if you want me to.. I'm not much with a needle, but I can at least ensure that you won't catch your death thanks to infection," she mentioned, though she wouldn't force him to let her see his to his injuries. She hummed softly as he kissed her cheek, the affection warming her as she turned her head to return it, her lips soft against his skin. "Gods... having you back still feels like a dream, and if it is I never want to wake up," she murmured just before pressing a brief, gentle kiss to his lips. There was so much they hadn't gotten to do together before he left, but now there was a chance they had forever to do as they pleased. |

"You mind looking at a few? Might need a few things, i'm unsure though." He noted, the three being medium depth gashes on his back. Her kiss caught him off guard though, Gale leaning towards her and kissing her before pulling away, smiling softly as he did. It still felt surreal that she was his again, not the king's, not the kingdom's, and certainly nobody else's. She was his, and always would be. When one day whether they'd be taking care of their kids running around, or staying alone as two, he'd enjoy it anyways. Whatever she wanted, long as he was with her. |

Selene grinned bashfully, knowing she never truly kissed him first on most occasions. She just couldn't help the urge to claim him as her own and show love to her husband while she had the opportunity. She belonged solely to him. Those three years had been spent in solitude, but she didn't care. His very presence and loyalty to her made it more than worth all of the lonely nights. And now, they could choose how to mold their life however they wanted. "Now... let's have a look at those injuries. Can't go getting carried away without seeing to the important stuff first," she mused, though she genuinely wanted to make sure that he was alright. |

He nodded, pulling his tunic off before laying on his stomach, leaving the gashes on his back exposed upwards to her. "Those three big ones, got dirt and soot and everything under the sun in them." Gale mused, the taste of her still lingering on him. He still felt the phantom of her lips brushing against his, knowing it was what he loved and how sweet she tasted adding onto it. The man stayed as he was as she drew nearer, examining his wounds and her perfume dancing its way into his nostrils. Gods she smelled good. She smelled like peace, and trust, and love, and most of all, his. |

Selene sucked in a quiet, sharp breath as she saw the gashes. They didn't look very good at all, though thankfully seemed mostly clean despite what they'd been through. "So I can tell. Do they hurt at all? They look angry," she questioned, leaning close as she touched her hand around the wounds gently. They weren't warmer than normal, so at least they didn't have fever. They were just really red and irritated, likely from his tunic and armor rubbing against them. "Other than that, they could probably use a more thorough cleaning and actual bandages," she mused before pressing her lips to his bare shoulder. She loved being able to touch and to kiss him. He was the only person she had ever wanted to call her own, and there he was, being exactly what she wanted without even trying. |
