"Youre the boss here."Caleb said, loping next to Jaxon.

Jaxon smiled, he let that comment play on his ego, as he straightened in the saddle, spurring on his mare to keep up with the truck in front. They stopped at a gate into the Eastern part of the estate. Jaxon turned his mare and unlatched the gate. He stood back to let the guy with the truck park up and get set up in his usual spot. The channeling system in place already with its giant wooden fence posts to hold a herd of cattle. Jaxon let Caleb pass and then swung the gate closed. Jaxon turned to Caleb while the guy set up. "Right so, we need to round them off the top and then drive them up the hill into the corral here" He said briefing Caleb on the job and pointing in the direction of the cattle. "Fairly easy for us today cause once they're penned, we can chill until the guy is done" He nods to the guy testing the hydraulics of the crush. "You ready?" "Gotcha." Caleb said, already clicking to Splash and asking for a lope. He started driving the cattle on the left first, then double checked the other guys were surrounding the other sides. Caleb cut off a heifer that was veering off the course of the herd, expertly putting it back in place. Caleb sighed from the day's work, pleased with the job he had. The guy finished with the last of the cattle and untied the cow, turning it loose. "Damn that was fun." Caleb muttered

Jaxon waved off the guy in the truck once he'd finished loading up. The gate open for Caleb to walk through with Jaxon and his mare. He swung the gate closed and they walked back towards the barn. "So... I had you asked my sister on a date" Humour tickled in his voice as he raised an eyebrow at Caleb.

"Not a date. Just go to my competition with me, really." Caleb said, immedietly defensive. "I'll see you later." He said before loping off to the barn, giving Splash water before loosening the girth and exchanging the bridle. He left everything else on just in case they were needed again soon.

Jaxon smirked and loped after him. He reached the barn and jumped off his mare. "You know... I swapped her shift so she could go" He said walking past his stall, looking at him with a sort of apologetic look for getting him all riled up. He pulled his mare in, took all her tack off. "We're done for the day if you want to turn your mare out for a few hours" He paused passing his stall again, saddle cradled in his arms. "Fancy a beer?" He asked, eyes twinkling.

"No thanks. You got any chutes around here so I can practice calf tying?" Caden asked, putting the bridle back on Splash

Jaxon shrugged, leading his mare out to pasture, on his way past he pointed to behind the barn. "Out back but there is no cattle in it, you'll need to catch one to pratice" And with that he left.

(Sry it's short, trying to catch up on all my other RPs. Left for an hour and came back to 11 messages and 8 RP responses lol) "Never mind." Caleb said, untacking. Once he was done, he decided to clean his saddle and grabbed some cleaner and conditioner before he grabbed the saddle he had just used.

John appeared in the barn. He looked around and spotted Caleb. "Ahhh Caleb there you are. Thanks for your help this morning, it's really appreciated, how are you finding settling in?" He asked. Before Caleb could answer there came the familiar sound of hooves crunching on the gravel. A horse snorted, as the black stallion that was Salem appeared into view of the barn. Cass and Beau beaming. "Oh hello!" John threw his hands up in the air to greet them. "Dadda!" Beau squealed. Salem had stood, slouching into a rested position. John came over to his side and picked Beau up of the saddle, squealing as he lifted her into his arms. "The western perimeter is all good" Cass said to her dad, she spots Caleb working on Splash inside the barn. Cass jumped down and lead Salem into his stall as John and Beau followed. She untacked and gave the stallion a good rub down. Suddenly a golden retriever appeared in the barn. He barked once. "Ooooo lunch is ready" John called loudly. Cass smiled, she huffed a laugh at Caleb. The dog turning back up the path towards the house, followed by John and Beau. "I'll be right there! Just going to turn Salem out" She called after them. She lead Salem out of his stall towards the pasture, not before pausing to turn to Caleb. "Good ride this morning?" she asked. Edited at November 29, 2024 03:28 AM by Velaris Stud
