He hugged her tightly and stroked her hair gently, trying to let her calm down. He was thankful that Roxie had left...otherwise this would be a whole lot harder. He didn't say anything...he just tried to let Maxine calm down a bit.
After a good 10 minutes of honing in just in his heartbeat she pulled slightly away "I can't hear the other noises as much now..." She murmured her stomach growling rather loudly Maxine realized how hungry she was she looked at him "I'm hungry..." She murmured a ravenous light in her eyes... She hadn't been this hungry even when she was feeding their daughter. She wanted to get back to her but she wanted to be more under control first... She didn't want to accidentally hurt her little girl... She had so many questions in her mind... Would this change her completely? Would she still like everything she had before? She wondered.
Sage smiled and stood up. "You're demon side wants energy," he explained. "Roxie had it ready for you. Come on, let's go eat. That really the only thing that will change...you'll need a bit of energy from time to time."
Max nodded and followed him out pausing when she saw herself in a mirror in the hallway... She didn't care for the gown but at least overall she didn't look different aside from her eyes anyway... They were a more piercing blue now but she seemed pleased to find that physically she hadn't changed she hoped when she got home she'd feel more secure... She didn't care for this place one bit... But even she couldn't deny freaking out here was better then freaking out at home where she could have hurt their daughter.Roxie was waiting, she had a full buffet for them everything on the table was foods Maxine recognized but they were still different... She noticed the energy signatures radiating from them and licked her lips hungrily though she tensed when she saw Roxie her hand balling into a fist and a low growl erupting from her throat. "Easy..." Roxie said "You'll feel better once you eat..." She said "Why?" Maxine hissed "Are you trying to ease some kind of guilt?" She hissed "Hun I have no guilt... I got what I wanted... Why would I feel guilty...?" She asked "But that's not the point... The point is you're hungry and need to eat... So eat." She said firmly.
Sage put his hands on Max's shoulder and steered her away from Roxie and towards the food gently. "Roxie and I made a deal. She won't mess with us anymore and gave me permission to do this to you, as long as I get her some extra souls now and then. She's not going to play with us anymore."
Max eyes Roxie like she still wanted to kill her... But she was quick to dig into the food... She was so hungry... Max looked at him "That's all...?" She asked looking at him curiously " What's the catch...?" She asked suspiciously.
He raised an eyebrow. '"no catch. I was clear about what I wanted." He shrugged. "Shes curious about how this will all turn out since it's never happened before. All I have to do is send her a few extra souls from time to time." He smiled. "You're still my master, I didn't sell myself or anything...don't worry."
Max nodded hesitantly sitting down at the table to eat "So I'm an experiment as is our daughter..." She muttered softly before she nodded "Okay..." She said gently looking around at the food around her before she finally selected something to eat... It was easier to associate this with food when it actually looked like food though really she was just going through the motions of eating as she absorbed the souls she needed. When she was full she turned to Sage "Can we go home now? I want to see our little girl..." She said gently.
Sage sighed. "Not really any more than I was when she wanted to see what the old death would do. She's curious but isn't going to do anything but watch us every now and then." Then he nodded gently and held his hand out to her. "I think home is a good idea. We need to get back anyway. Even though Fate is babysitting and she's asleep I do want to get back to her "
Maxine nodded and gave a gentle content sigh "Okay... I guess I can live with that..." she shrugged before taking his hand nodding in agreement "I just want to see her." Max said gently, she also wanted to get away from Roxie... she both hated her and was grateful to her at the same time and she hated it. She changed into some different clothes and left with Sage... When she got to the outside world it was much harder to ignore the heightened sounds around her and she covered her ears again with a whimper "Its too loud..." she whimpered sinking to her knees as she grabbed at her ears.
