Sage hummed in response to her comment, a cocky shrug moving his shoulders slightly. "We'll see," he just missed after she spoke up, already wondering how the heck he was gonna do this. He had the suspicion the crew always let him win because he was captain .... He could very well be bag at this. Then again he thanked in caverns too, and he'd win there as well, so maybe not. Whatever. Either way, he was determined to say the very least give Jora a run for her money. |

Jora raised an eyebrow, catching the cocky shrug and the uncertainty flickering behind Sage’s eyes. He was trying to play it off, but she could see right through him. The confidence was there, sure, but so was the doubt. "Yeah, we’ll see, Captain," she said, her voice smooth with just the right hint of challenge. She leaned back slightly, arms crossed, studying him. "You’ve got the title, but I don’t think that’ll save you this time." She gave him a slow, teasing smile. "But hey, maybe you’ll surprise me." She wasn’t going to make it easy for him. He had the whole crew convinced he was untouchable, but Jora knew better. She’d make sure to keep him on his toes. |

Sage couldn't help but laugh when Jora challenged him again. He really did enjoy the friendly competition between them...whether it was this, or something as extreme as her deciding to make him beg for her touch. He knew she was never doing it to be mean....and he enjoyed messing around. So he was more than happy to oblige, no matter what it was he was agreeing to. He knew she'd be playing it cool, doing her best to win. But so would he. "And what are we betting then, if not money," he asked, curious about it but also.. come on, you needed something on the line. That added to the fun. |

Jora smirked, her eyes glinting with that mischievous spark he knew all too well. "Oh, something much more... interesting than money," she said, leaning in just enough to make him wonder if she was about to tell him something shocking. But she didn't, of course. "The loser has to give the winner *one* thing they’ve been too stubborn to offer up until now." She watched him carefully, not breaking her cool composure. She knew that would make him second-guess himself. They always went back and forth with these games—tests of patience, willpower, and, occasionally, their ability to outlast each other when it came to playing hard to get. It made every challenge feel like a new level of intrigue. "I'll leave the specifics up to you," she added, tone laced with a teasing edge. "But I think you’ll find it... more than worth the effort." |

Sage felt an eyebrow creep up as Jora mentioned what they'd be betting. "Interesting," he mused, contemplating what the hell that would even be. "You mean I have to come up with something for you to give me now," he added, wrinkling his nose slightly in a teasing manner. It very well could be him giving her soemthing.....either way he had no clue what would be offered up. Especially what he would offer up. That was a good one. "I suppose I could deal with that," he mused, eyes glittering. It was risky...but that was how they both liked it. Risky in a way that wouldn't wind up with someone hurt or anything. Besides, really any excurse to spend time with her would be worth his efforts, and he got that just by playing a game. So really it was a win win situation. Although, he was bound and determined to win the game either way. |

Jora’s lips curled into a mischievous smile as she caught the glint in Sage's eyes. He’s always so damn confident, she thought, resisting the urge to roll her eyes. She could practically hear the wheels turning in his head, no doubt already scheming. But she wasn’t the kind to back down, especially when the stakes were so... intriguing. "You’ll figure something out," she replied coolly, voice low but with an undeniable edge. "But don’t get too cocky, Sage. I’m pretty good at making people give more than they intend to." Her gaze narrowed playfully as she leaned in just slightly, enough to make her point clear but not so much as to lose the upper hand. After all, if this goes the way I want, he’ll be the one working harder for it. Her fingers tapped rhythmically on the table, the sound almost deliberate as she watched him. He thinks he's got the upper hand, but I know him better than that. “And if you think you can outplay me, then be my guest. But fair warning... I don’t lose.” She leaned back again, exhaling in mock indifference. Let him think he’s got a chance. |

Sage hummed in response to her comment, bobbing his head up and down and waving her comment away after a moment. "I don't think I'll have to, " he hummed. "it'll be you giving me something, after all," he added, a gleam in his eyes as he glanced over his card cooly. It was a decent hand...but it could be better. No matter. He could still win this. "Are you now," he mused, looking back up at her a cocking his head slightly. Maybe he could distract her...no, that wasn't the right word, she wouldn't be distracted. Frazzled a bit maybe, but not distracted. Either way, the simple movement could help him gain a few points he supposed. At her next comment though, he hummed and let his grin widen. "Well then, you've met your match my dear," he cooed. "Because I don't lose either," he added, eyes gleaming with mischeif and daring. Only one of them could win this though. "Why don't you start us off, miss confident," he added lightly. |

Jora smirked, glancing up at Sage with a raised eyebrow as he made his challenge. His confidence was almost as amusing as it was infuriating. She shifted her cards slightly, the cool surface of them barely making a sound. "Oh, I’m sure you’re good," she said, her tone light but with an edge of warning. "But I’d be careful with that kind of attitude. I’ve got a way of turning the tables when people least expect it." She could see the gleam in his eye, that cocky confidence that made him such a pain to beat. But Jora was no fool. She wasn’t about to let him get under her skin. If anything, his little quips were only fueling her focus. She’d make the first move, let him think he had the upper hand for now. "Don’t get too ahead of yourself," Jora teased, her grin almost as sharp as his. "I think you might be in for a surprise." With a casual flick of her wrist, she placed the first card down, watching him intently, gauging his reaction. This game wasn’t over yet. Not by a long shot. |

Sage just shrugged in response to her comments, glancing back down at the cards in his hands. "I've figured that one out by now," he hummed. "I think i'm getting rather used to it," he added, clearly enjoying teasing the girl. He knew she was playing it cool, acting like he wasn't annoying her...but he knew he was, even if it was just a little bit. And that thought just made him grin even wider. He watched as she set her first card down, thinking about what move to make after a moment or so, before placing his own card on top of the pile now beginning to accumulate on the floor. "Well, I do like surprises," he hummed after a moment or so. "You'd best make it a good one, if you think you can manage that." They were teasing, and enjoying it...but really he just liked spending time with her. Was he stubborn and competitive? Absolutely. Would he complain about doing anything for her if she did win? Yes, 100 percent. But would he just be glad to have enjoyed the time anyway? For sure. But he would definitly do his best to mess her game up in the meanwhile. |

Jora rolled her eyes but couldn’t hide the smirk tugging at the corners of her lips. "Getting used to it, huh?" She leaned back, folding her arms across her chest, eyeing him with mock skepticism. "You're really going to claim that, Sage? I thought you were supposed to be better than this." Her fingers brushed over her deck of cards, considering her next move. She could feel his eyes on her, and it only made her want to make him wait a little longer. The teasing was mutual, after all. He didn’t think she noticed, but the way he grinned after every little jab told her everything. He was enjoying it way too much, and she was trying to figure out how to get him back for that. “I always manage to surprise,” she said, her voice a little quieter but with that edge of confidence. She let her card drop, watching it settle onto the pile, a sly little glint in her eyes as she added, “Just wait. You might want to rethink that statement before the game’s over.” She leaned forward, resting her chin in her hand as she surveyed his next move. “You know, you could just save us both the trouble and let me win already. I’ll let you keep that smug grin, at least for a little while.” But even as she said it, she knew she wouldn’t let him off that easily. It was a game—sure, it was about the cards—but mostly, it was about having fun. And no matter how much he teased her, it wouldn’t stop her from keeping him on his toes. |
