Mari could only smile back at the boy... the evening light was shining through the window, and the way the orange bounced off the boy just made him seem to glow. His eyes seemed to get even brighter, and she had to admit the sight of a smile on his face would make her buckle at the knees. She nodded quietly to the boy and gently reached out to rest a hand on the side of his neck, her thumb running gently up and down the small marks that had started to appear on his neck, which had admittedly made her smile grow a tiny bit. "Yeah, we can do that," she whispered in a kind of sleepy voice. "What were you thinking?" She hummed softly. She was happy to make anything up for him... and it was even better if he wanted to help.

Sage noted the girls slightly smile when she noticed the dark spots on his neck, and he sort of chuckled to himself about it. He hummed thoughtfully for a moment a yawned slightly before settling down again and shrugging. "Dunno. Something that's not the cooks cooking." He wrinkled his nose slightly and chuckled. "You do much better," he noted with amusement. "Maybe we can find a bunt cake recipie in that closet somewhere too," he hummed after a moment, still half asleep a bit. He didn't really care what they ate or made...he just wanted time with the girl, and he cooking was just really, really good.

The girl chuckled slightly and shook her head. "I don't think it's difficult to make something better than he does," she mused softly. She definitely did like the idea of a bunt cake, though... she'd said before that her baking wasn't amazing for some reason, but it wouldn't be awful, and they were doing this together so it might come out alright. "Can we do chicken strips or something... they're easy," she told him quietly. They were pretty fun to make, anyway. Messy, but fun. She'd like to make them with Sage, anyway... she found that she didn't really care, as long as she was with him. She just liked spending time with him... she just wanted to be his person, she supposed. "A bunt cake would be nice... I've not had anything sweet in a little while, not since the last one," she mused slightly before rolling onto her back with a little bit of a stretch, still pretty reluctant to get up at all.

Sage chuckled slightly at the girl's comment and nodded, an amused smile moving his lips upwards. He nodded when she mentioned chicken strips and hummed happily. "That sounds fine to me," he chirped, though rather lazily. When the girl rolled over, he sort of arched his back in a stretch and rolled over onto his stomach, propping his chin up on his forarms. The necklace the doctor had given him came to rest in the divot between his collar bone and was cool against his skin...he'd decided to just keep it on and wear the thing, since it was nice to have something from the doctor. And it did look good if he said so himself. Ambers eyes opened sleepily and after a moment she padded over to rub herself against sage, purring when he reached out to pet her before settling back down against his chest and closing her eyes again still purring loudly.

Mari watched as the cat went to sit next to Sage, and already couldn't help her smile. The little thing really was sweet... and she was glad that the boy had managed to fall for her. Amber clearly loved Sage, too, and it was nice to see. She watched the boy roll over, her smile still light as he petted Amber... she kind of had to take a moment to think about how lucky she was right then. She didn't have much in life, and she'd never really wanted anything... but she did want to be able to be like this forever... with Sage and Amber in the sun where it was warm and safe... it felt like everything she could ask for. She rolled back onto her side and trailed a finger up and down his spine gently after a moment, her other arm reaching around him to give the kitten a little bit of a fuss.

Sage glanced back at the girl when he felt her hand run up and down his spine and gave her a grin before looking back at Amber, who was definitely enjoying all the attention. No doubt she was a bit jealous of Mari in the previous few hours, so sage was willing to give her a fuss. Besides, he did love the cat....and having both her and Mari was pretty darn great. Suddenly, he just really wished it could be like this forever...and he hoped that he and Mari might one day have a house and a family. It almost seemed too much to hope for, but he did think it would be nice. He watched the girl play with the kitten for a moment before leaning over to rest his head on her shoulder gently, a soft smile on his face.

Mari have a soft hum when the boy rested his head on her shoulder, clearly very happy with the way things were going as of then. The quiet was nice... the only sound filling the air being the sweet kitten's purr as she got fussed by the two of them. She gently moved her nails around his back in a kind of soothing way, still fussing the kitten with the other. She moved to press a light kiss to the boy's head with a gin. "We need to get dressed," she prompted quietly, though didn't make an effort to move... she meant it when she said she was happy here. They had time, though... they could stay like this for as long as they wanted.

Sage groaned slightly in response to the girl's comment. "Do we though," he hummed. He knew they had to eventually...they couldn't just lay here forever, someone would walk in on them at some point. It would probably the doctor...which the doctor had probably seen quite a bit of him when he had needed surgery, but he assumed the girl wouldn't be thrilled to be seen by anyone but him and Amber right about then. He didn't move from the girls shoulder, though he did know they'd have to get up soon. "We have to wait for the cook to be done anyway," he huffed.

The girl gave an amused hum in response to him. He was right... they'd have to wait unless they wanted rock-hard potatoes thrown at their heads. After a couple of moments, she watched as the cat rolled onto her back with her paws stretching out, waiting for someone to stroke her belly. Mari smiled and went to do just that for a little bit before rolling onto her own back, though still happily watching both Sage and the little kitten... he really was smitten with the little animal, wasn't he? It was nice to see. She then couldn't help her chuckle at her next thought. "You do understand that you have a whole naked woman next to you and you're fussing a kitten," she mused lightly as she gently poked his ribs. She obviously wasn't upset about it, she rather liked watching him with Amber, but she'd just never met anyone like that... it was definitely a little bit refreshing.

Sage let out a giggle at the girl's touch, and wriggled around slightly, since he was admittedly still rather ticklish around his rib area and looked over at the girl with a grin. "Yeah, but I already had you on top of me for quite a while. Not that I wouldn't be up for a second round...but maybe after dinner," he hummed in a rather amused manner. "Amber deserves some love too, don't you, kitty," he cooed in a voice that one might use when talking to a baby funny. Amber let out a meow and reached up to bat lightly at his nose, which resulted in a giggle from Sage as he scooped the kitten up and rolled over so he was on his back next to Mari. He let the kitten just sort of cuddle up onto his chest, and he stroked her happily as she gazed up at his face with big eyes.
