Anya smiled inwardly at the sound of Sages voice, pleased to hear that he was awake. She quietly poked her head through, adjusting her eyes to the dark before slipping through the door and gently shutting it behind her. "You're up." She whispered softly, placing the jug and cups on a little side table. "How do feel?" She murmured, taking a seat on the opposite bed. She could hear it in his voice that it was hurting to talk, but she hoped at very least he was comfortable. The girl wasn't planning to stay long... not if Sage wasn't overly well, but long enough at least to tell him what had happened.

Sage chuckled slightly, though it hurt like crazy. "Like I've been through hell, but that's pretty much what happened." His lips curled up into a sort of tired smile. "Don't worry, I'll manage." He shifted his weight slightly and winced before settling down again. "But, uh, when I woke up Lizzie was already asleep. Care to explain where I'm at and how I got here?" He was curious, and didn't say it in a rude or upset sort of way. He looked around slightly, though there wasn't much to look at.

Anya pursed her lips into a thin line before giving a soft smile, shifting a little before speaking up. "You're in the castle." She grumbled, her gave falling to the ground. "I tried to find you at your house last night... when I got there, you had been beaten to pulp. We weren't sure what to do, so we brought you here, to the castle." The girl glanced back up slightly, "I had the castle physician fix you up. Then Lizzie and I decided it would be best for you to stay off the streets for a while, just until you're well enough to work again." The girl shrugged slightly, giving a sly smirk, "I carried you all the way here." She grumbled like a proud child.

Sage nodded thoughtfully and then sighed. "So Lizzie drags me around, and now you're carrying me around like a baby doll," he notted, amused. "Well, thanks. Although how you managed all of this I have absolutely no idea and right now the less thinking I do the better." He wheezed out a slight laugh at the girl's tiny bit of pride she got from carrying him around town.

Anya nodded slightly, resting her head back against the wall. "We would have done anything to help you... only, I'm afraid my medical knowledge is no better than Lizzies." The girl noted. "It's just fortunate that the doctor agreed to sort you out. You'd be done for otherwise." She shrugged slightly before standing up. "Speaking of the good doctor, he mentioned that you need to try and stay awake. Something about a coma." She murmured quietly before letting out a muffled laugh. "Oh, I carried you out bride style." Anya grinned, "nothing but the best for our Sage." She teased before pouring a small glass of water for whenever he wanted it. "I'm just checking in. Big party tonight, remember?" She murmured, rolling her eyes slightly. "I'll be back in a few hours, hopefully with something for you guys it eat if you're up for it."

Sage grinned at her joke, which was funny despite the slight blush that was spreading a ross his cheeks. "Something makes me think the 'good doctor' as you say had some convincing to help me out," he said in an amused tone. He made a face. "If I hadn't been knocked out I could have probably seen myself up but by the time I would have woken up from that I was out because of blood loss," he muttered. "Funny how that worked out." Then he shrugged. "Well try to have fun at the ball. For both of us, since I'll be laying here for a while." He grinned. "An exploding lunch bowl would be entertaining," he giggled, humor showing through the pain in his eyes.

Anya chuckled at him slightly before shaking her head. "I suppose it would be." She murmured with a teasingly thoughtful face. She felt a little bad for having to leave Sage... he was in pain, and while he had Lizzie with him, she was flat out asleep, and wouldn't be able to keep him up. Sure, the boy could look after himself perfectly well, but she was still worried that would let himself slip into a slumber. And to think, while Sage was recovering from being jumped by his own father, she was going off to a ball, supposedly to enjoy herself. Anya pursed her lips slightly, deciding that if she didn't leave right then, she would convince herself to stay. She took a few steps forward before ruffling his hair playfully, "Later, Sage." She grinned before slipping back out the door.

Sage grinned over at her as she left, her touch gentle. He wasn't sure why he noticed that little playful touch so much...maybe because no one had ever been that gentle with him, except for maybe Lizzie, but she was his sister. That was different. He sighed and closed his eyes again, wanting to sleep but knowing he shouldn't. He opened his eyes again and stared at the ceiling, thinking about a lot of things. Anya mostly. She cared about him, he knew that, but friend didn't really cut it anymore. Neither did sister, although that was closer. He wasn't sure how to describe it, and he didn't know what he was thinking or feeling. It was all so new and weird. Maybe he had hit his head harder than he thought, but Anya was special. He just wasn't sure what it was yet. Was it love? He couldn't imagine it...that kind of thing was alien to him. And there were rules. Besides, she was promised to someone. That thought send a jolt through his chest. That was almost worse than his physical pain. He closed his eyes again with a groan, wondering if something was wrong with him. What was he thinking? She was never an option. And never would be...he would have to deal with that.

The girl paused outside the door for a moment, still debating if she should stay a while longer or not. This was her own ball though... Anya was a living centre piece, and god forbid she was late. As much as she hated it, Sage would have to wait a little while. Taking a breath, the girl treaded away from their little room and towards the main hall, where guests were flowing in from all angles. It was almost a wonder that they all managed to fit. While it would be considered proper for her to mingle a little, she was already late, and she was expected to seek out her betrothed. They already knew each other... they would be forced to get together a few times every year, and it had been that way since they were around four. It wasn't like they hated each other, more like they simply had nothing in common. Anya was a slightly kinder soul where as Prince Luther was a little more... well, brutish. Not in the way Sage was where he'd defend himself, more in the way that he'd go out of his way to hurt people. A very stereo typical royal. All they could talk about was the weather, which most of the time still drew a blank. It wasn't an ideal arrangement, but it was quite literally what she was born to do, and Anya had come to terms with it years ago. This ball was be like any other - they would talk, maybe have a dance or two, get some food, get bored and go speak to someone else. Her mother had assured her that she would learn to love him, though, it didn't seem likely. Anya had been so sheltered, so it wasn't like she knew what it was to love someone like the Prince. Of course, she had it the concept of love, in some strange, twisted way. There was only one person that she felt even remotely such a way about, that she genuinely exited to see every day... and he was some tavern boy. Most likely battling for consciousness in a servants room. It was a stupid thought. She liked Sage, they were friends, and that was it. Anya glanced up at a large clock in the corner if the hall. It had been a few hours. She looked around for a moment, scouting out the food stand before filling up a few plated and tip toeing out the the hall, back towards the servants quarters at the other end of the castle.

Sage lay around for a bit before sighing and slipping out from Lizzie's grasp. He was bored, so it couldn't hurt to try and get up. No one had said anything about staying still, so he may as well try to walk around a bit. As soon as he started to sit up, though, bolts of pain shot through his body and he groaned slightly, laying back down, panting. He scowled and stared at the ceiling, annoyed and worried. If he couldn't move, how was he supposed to work? He had to get back to the tavern soon, or he and Lizzie would both starve. Not that he could eat much anyway, he had a feeling he would throw up anything that was given to him currently, though he would have to try and eat at some point if he wanted to get better. Beside him, Lizzie stirred and opened her eyes, and when she saw he was awake, a wide grin split her face and she hugged him gently. He patted her back lightly, gritting his teeth as he did so. Lizzie started telling him all about their crazy adventure that day, and he half listened with a smile on his face. At least it gave him something to do, kind of. A

He listened to her talk until he felt like he was going to fall asleep and then just concentrated on staying awake. His lungs were hurting worse, but he was breathing heavier now, so he supposed that was normal. Although he wouldn't be surprised if something was wrong still...that would be just the kind of luck he had.
