She pulled away for a moment, kissed his cheek, then let her head fall back onto his shoulder. "I love you," she murmered, lightly tracing the lines of his back with her fingers. |

(It's really the worst D:<) Adele gave in to his suggestion, flopping onto the bed. She surprised herself that she actually wasn't that tired. The naps earlier in the day must have helped her. But she cuddled close anyway, closing her eyes as she thought about the day. What a day it had been. |

"What do you think your mother will do if we get married?" She would have said 'when we get married', but it sounded too surreal to think about right now, so she kept it to the hypotheticals. |

Adele recoiled, fear on her face. "She wouldn't! Though..." She paused, thinking. "She would." She finished in resignation and sorrow. Then her face grew hard with anger. She pulled away from Caelan and propped herself up on her elbow. "I can't believe people can be that cruel! It's just... Sickening. Awful. Horrid. I can't even begin to imagine what you've gone through..." She trailed off, looking down at her hands. |

"What's happened to me is just scars now. In the past. Don't worry too much, darling. I'll protect you and our heirs" |

"But you just said she'd try to kill you! That's not in the past, and it's not scars! If it happens, I'll have worse than scars to worry about!" Adele exclaimed in frustration, clenching her fists. She gritted her teeth, angry that Caelan thought everything was all right. Clearly, it wasnt! Even if he protected her, that didn't mean she'd be safe! Even more importantly, it didn't mean he'd be safe! In fact, it put him in more danger. Adele tried to calm herself, though the determination and anger was still in her voice when she spoke. "Listen. You promised we'd do this together, no matter what." (Ummmm did he say that??? I have no idea :P) "So I can't stand by while you might kill yourself trying to protect me from your mother!" |
