Anya watched as Lizzie rushed to her brothers side... still slightly in shock. The chances were that the little girl knew more of what to do with wounds than she did. Anya could barely keep a wound clean, never mind treat whatever had happened to him. As Lizzie started picking up glass, the realisation that she actually had to do something kicked in. The girl slipped through the door before fiddling with a latch on the other side to lock it. As Lizzie ordered, she rumaged around for Sages dagger, to no avail. She pulled out the little knife he had given her before slipping the blade between his skin and the ropes, then sawed at the rope until it finally snapped. They had left blood and purple marks on the boys wrist - no doubt making the injuries from the nights prior worse. Anya took a breath as she slowly carried his arms to his side, careful not to make matters worse for him. They needed to stop the blood, and the sooner the better... though, she wasn't sure how. The girl rummaged around again, until she found some if the clothes she had gifted him. They wouldn't do much... but they would do something. Anya totted back to his side, wrapping some of the smaller wounds up. The girl looked him over quietly, her brows furrowing slightly. The cut... the bone peeking out of one of it, she couldn't do anything about it. Sage was so pale... like he would vanish at any given moment. Anya glanced at his sister, going a little pale herself. Anya was near to useless. "I don't know what to do." she whispered as she stood up and went to dampen some of the rags and pushed his hair out of his face before placing one on his forehead, using the others to clean him up a littls. She wasn't sure what that would do... something, hopefully. Anya thought for a moment. The castle had a physician. If could get either Sage to the castle or the physician to Sage, maybe he would have a better chance. Though, she would have to keep him hidden a little while. She didn't particularly want to move him either... not if he had broken something. The girl cursed her lack of knowladge, knowing that right now, if they couldn't fo anything, the chances of Lizzie loosing her brother seemed realitively high.

Lizzie frowned slightly, thinking. "Sage can usually stitch himself up, but the broken bone and tied hands would have prevented that." She put a hand to the wound on his head and inspected him closer. "No, dad knocked him out too. There's no way sage could have done much to fight back. Especially not if his side was the first hit he got...I saw the scuffle back by the tavern and some blood, but I didn't think much of it since Sage said there's always fights there." She looked over Sage, biting her lips, worried. She was scared...Sage couldn't lose much more blood. She didn't know how long he had been like this...it could already be too late. "There's a doctor up in the next town over, but she only helps the lower classes if we pay enough. The price is too high though, and I don't want you to have to pay that much either. Even then she may not care enough to do much..." Her voice trailed off as she bit her lip, trying to keep her composure. She didn't really like the doctor she was talking about, and her hopes of her actually helping Sage much were low. But neither her or Anya could fix a bone that was broken like that. And the jagged edge was likely to cause internal problems, especially if he was moved too much. There were risks no matter what they did, but neither of them could seem to make a decision about what to do. She put her fingers gently on Sage's cheek, trying to come up with a better solution.

Anya looked at the boy for a moment, wondering what to do with him. He looked so... ill. Almost as if he were some sort of zombie. She glanced up at Lizzie for a moment. Sages best shot was the physician. They'd have to get him in there, which could cause issues, but she had no doubt he would be better off with someone who knew what they were doing. "I know someone who could help. Though, I doubt he'd come out, so we'll have to get Sage there somehow." She murmured quietly. She didn't even know if the doctor would help when he saw the boy... he was a lowly tavern boy, and no more to a stranger. Still, she wanted to try and help him, at least. The girl hovered her hands just in front of the boys nose, making sure she could feel a little breath. She wanted to get him awake, and while she knew he would be in pain, it meant she could keep him from going into a coma or alike. Anya needed the boy to keep on going, for a little while, because really, as worried as she was, she wouldn't forgive him if he died. Anya ran her hand through his hair, keeping it out of the damp cloth, "do you think we could move him," she croaked quietly. Edited at August 11, 2022 11:17 PM by Belle

Lizzie frowned for a moment and then nodded. "If you think it's his best chance." She reached over and grabbed a small stick and a bit of thread, shoving the stick under the bone and tying it to it so it wouldn't move and hurt him any more. Sage flinched slightly, even unconscious, before relaxing again. "He's super light...you could probably carry him," she thought out loud. "Whoever you know is probably more experienced and knows more about injuries like this than the doctor down here," she admitted. She looked down at sage and sighed, then looked back at Anya. "Try to carry him while I check for dad," she instructed the girl. "If you need help I can try to help, but two of us carrying him might cause other issues. I don't want him to not have that kind of support if he was hit hard enough to break things " She ran to the door and looked outside, scanning the area for their father. Anya pursed her lips into a straight line before giving a quiet nod. The castle wasn't far - so hopefully, if they were quick, the boy would be in safe hands soon enough... just so long as the physician agreed to help him. She breathed out before carefully slipping a hand under his kneck, and then using the other to pick up his legs, almost so that she was cradling him. The girl took a breath before slowly standing up, though, she wasn't expecting him to be quite so light. "Come on then, Sage." She murmured out loud before carefully adjusting him so that it was slightly less awkward. She wandered out the cabin, looking around the area to spot the boys sister before motioning towards a small track leading past the taven and into the woods. The girl paused when they got to the little tunnel before turning to Lizzie, letting out a soft breath, "I need you to be silent throught here, alright? If we get caught, that'll be game over." She noted simply before slipping through the tunnel and speed walking to the servants quarters. Anya treaded over before using her foot to knock on the door. The door swung open, revealing a tired, middle aged looking man. Anya pushed through him before he could say anything, walking into a room that seemed like a whole sciance experament. There was a small bed in the corner, surrounded by all sorts of tools. She carefully placed the boy down before shutting and locking the door behind Lizzie. The man let out a yawn, still looking a little oblivious, though, he was coming about. "What are you doing?" He murmured as he glanced from the bed to Anya. She had been soaked in Sages blood while carrying him... it almost looked as though something had happened to her. The squinted her eyes at him before pointing at Sage, "What do you think? I brought him here, therefore he needs your help." The man raised a brow at her before wandering towards Sage, looking his wounds over. "Anya, my lady, he doesn't work here does he? Its not my job to care for commoners." He scoffed, going towards the door. Anya slipped infront of the door, blocking his way. He was right; the castle physician wasn't meant to treat anyone but the castle workers. Servants, maids, cooks and guards. Sage however, was none of those things. The girl took a shallow breath as a worried look crossed her face. She wasn't going to let him leave - not until he had seen to Sage, at least. The girl argued back and fourth with him, at first trying a nicer approach before getting bored and flipping a switch. Her pushed him back a little, her face moulding into a glare. "I swear to god, if you don't do anything for him, you wont have a job." She hissed, giving the man a cold stare until he let out a sigh and turned around to gather some supplies. "Fine. But Anya, if I get into trouble for th-" The girl cut him off. "You wont, I'll make sure of that." She noted as she watched the man start to work before turning to Lizzie, forcing a small smile before pulling two chairs not far from the bed. "He should be in good hands. You're welcome to stay for a while, if you want."

Lizzie nodded and stayed quiet, even when Anya argued with the man...she wanted to speak up, to plead with him to help her brother, but she but her lip, trusting Anya to make the man help him. Sage smiled back at the man when he offered her a chair and sat down. "Thank you," she whispered. "I'm sorry for giving you all this trouble, but there's no one else we could think of to help him." She fidgeted slightly, hoping that her kind words wouldn't be taken wrongly. She looked over at Anya, who was still standing, not wanting to be left alone with the man who obviously wasn't too keen to help them. She looked back at the man, who seemed to be a doctor. He was rummaging around, getting tools. She hoped he knew what he was doing ... Sage needed major help, and she hoped he could give it to him. He worked at the castle, so he must be good. She was just praying he was good enough to save sage.

Anya stared blankly into the room, her foot tapping on the stone floor as she thought. What would they do in the morning? Neither of them could stay in the castle... they would be caught. Though, Sage wasn't anywhere near fit enough to go back out there. She had no idea how long he'd be out for either. The girl rubbed her eyes before perching on the side of the little bed. While the doctor was skilled, she didn't quite trust him enough to look after Sage during the day if she left. She didn't really want to leave Lizzie in the little room either, but she really didn't know what to do with the two of them. Perhaps they could stay for a day or two, just until Sages wounds had started to heal, but even then he would have a broken rib... maybe a few broken ribs. Her heart started to pound a little, realizing she might have put the siblings in an even riskier situation. What if the doctor opened his mouth so someone? It would be classed as breaking and entering, even if Anya was with them. She didn't know what would happen to them, but whatever it was would be her fault. The girl took as short breath to calm her breathing a little before the doctor spoke up again, "Do you know what happened?" He asked shortly. "He was jumped... by his father, we think." She murmured, quietly taking his hand and running a thumb over the back of it, avoiding the marks the ropes had made, trying not to look at whatever the doctor was doing. "When we got there, he was tied up." She added, though the physician didn't seem too interested in the last bit, and just continued working away. The girl glanced to Sages sister for a moment with a thoughtful look on her face. "Do you need anything?" She murmured quietly, wanting her to relax a little, although it would be difficult considering the situation they were in. The poor girl was in a strange place, with her brother barely alive, with a complete stranger tending to him. The least Anya could do was make it comfortable for her. Lizzie watched the doctor closely. If she could learn something maybe she could help people if they needed it. She looked over at Anya and shook her head, smiling at her. "I'm alright. And I don't want to leave him. Thank you for offering though." She didn't think she could eat anything even if she tried. She tried to read the doctor's expression...if there was even a tad bit of sympathy or something like that it would make her feel more comfortable with him operating on her brother...it would show he cared at least a little bit. If he didn't care he wasn't trying his hardest, and was more prone to making a mistake. She wondered what would happen once the sun rose....if sage hadn't woken up by then, it could be an issue. And where would he rest and heal? He couldn't stay at their house, for sure. And he couldn't work either, which out them in another difficult situation. If he couldn't work they wouldn't have money to eat. She could forage for a few days if they really needed it, they were used to eating almost nothing, but sage needed more than some roots and berries to heal. Besides, she really didn't want to leave his side, especially not while he was unconscious. And even though the doctor was helping him, it was only because Anya had threatened him. He didn't really care if either of them lived or died, did he? She assumed not...most people didn't. Edited at August 12, 2022 07:35 PM by NightClan

Anya nodded, quietly biting the inside of her lip. She wouldn't be there the following night, and she would be expected to be preparing during the day. The physician wouldn't be able to watch them all day, and Anya couldn't tell any of the maids to set them up in one of the servant rooms, surely they would be ratted out. The girl wandered for a moment, glancing out the window then back towards Sage, still avoiding whatever the doctor was doing to him. She supposed she could slip away from this party once or twice... it would be going on from early afternoon to rather late at night, so no one would miss her if she left once or twice to bring them something to eat. There was a few spare rooms that werent likely to be occupied soon, so she could always put them in one of those until Sage had recovered a little. She supposed they could get away with pretending to be dish washers or something, but people would surely become suspicious if they weren't doing anything. They wouldn't be there for long, though, so it wouldn't really matter. Anya jumped a little as a small crack caught her attention. The doctor had almost rebroken the rib and put it back into place. The girl gagged a little, shaking her head. "Ribs are normally quite good at fixing themselves. It'll hurt for a while, but he should be back on his feet in a few days." The man grumbled, starting to stitch the wound back up.

Lizzie jumped slightly at the crack and then sighed in relief when the doctor told them that sage would be up and walking around again soon. A few days they could handle. She just needed to figure out where he could stay where no one would find him. He couldn't fight like this, and if someone found him she knew he would try, only hurting himself worse. She went over to Sage's side, carful not to get in the doctor's way as he stitched up the wound. She looked sage over again, and spoke up quietly. "He was hit pretty hard on the head.... he'll be alright from that too?" She spoke heasitantly, knowing the doctor didn't really like either of them, but she needed to know. And head injuries could be serious...if it was bad enough he would die even if his side was perfectly fine. And then of course there was infection to worry about with both wounds. The doctor most likely wouldn't give them any medicine, which was usual, but they would have to be careful. And as dirty as the slums we're, infection was almost unavoidable. But that could mean dying too...the wound on his side was deep and large, and an infection could easily spread to his organs, especially his lungs, which had already been harmed a bit with the broken rib.
